The Internet has become part of young people's life. report shows that 38% of students often use the Internet. Most of them get (use) information on the Internet and use the Internet (help) in their studies. But many students don't use it a good way. Some play games too much, some visit websites that shouldn't look at. So bad things may happen students spend too much time on the Internet.
is important for students to use the Internet properly. Now we have a textbook, uses many examples to teach students some good ways to use Internet. It gives useful advice.
Some students also make friends on the Internet. But if you want to have a face-to-face meeting your online friends, let your parents know and meet in a proper place.
Britain's highstreets are dying slowly
Twentyyears ago, the prosperous high street(繁华商业区)was the heart of most cities. It was crowded with customers.. Nowadays, high streets aredeclining, with very few shops and shoppers. With about 14 shops down everyday, Britain's high streets are dying little by little.
?It's fairly easy to understand. To start with, people are spending less becauseof the economic recession(衰退).On top of that, more and more people are using the Internet to do theirshopping. And it is not easy for shopkeepers in the high streets, either.. Finally, there are the outoftownretail parks with free car parking that sell just about everything at very lowprices.
Whatcan be done? Prime Minister David Cameron has hired Mary Portas, a Britishbusiness woman and star of TV show Mary Queen of Shops, to bring some life backinto Britain's high streets. She's talked about creating “magnets(磁石)” to attract people back to the centre.. In one town, a bicycle rickshaw(人力车) service is delivering people's shopping to their homes.,where children can be cared for while parents are shopping.
Membersof the public have also voiced their opinions. “My ideal shopping center is onewhere there's a wide selection of attractive looking shops, with cheap parkingand good public transport links,”said a 28yearold man. “I'd like to see Night Shopping evenings where shopsare open through to 10 pm or later,”said a 22yearold girl.
A.They have to pay increasing high rents
B.But he is not the only one to solve the problem
C.But that's all changed
D.In another town, they set up night shopping centers
E.In another town, they set up a nursery
F.They can make a fortune overnight
G.Why are high streets in such a desperate situation
Once upon a time in a land far far away, there was a 1old man who loved everything. Animals, spiders, insects…
One day2 walking through the woods the nice old man found a cocoon(茧) of a butterfly. He 3 it home. A few days later, a small 4 appeared;he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours 5 it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to 6making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go 7farther.
Then the old man decided to help the 8, so he took a pair of scissors and9 the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then came out 10.
11 it had a swollen body and small, shriveled(皱缩的) wings. The old man 12 to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would 13 to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened ! 14 , the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling(爬行) around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to 15.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting 16 and the struggle required for the butterfly to 17 the tiny opening were nature's way of forcing fluid(液体) from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its 18 from the cocoon.
Sometimes 19 are exactly what we need in our life. If we were allowed to go through our life without any challenges, it would weaken us. We would not be as 20 as what we could have been. And we could never fly.
Last October I left the UK behind and joined Gillotts School on their rugby and hockey tour in sunny Italy. It was my first time away on a sports tour and I could not have enjoyed it (much)! Five days of sports, between training and matches with Italian players, but also plenty time for sightseeing and free moments to enjoy an ice cream in the sun.
our flight had landed in Milan, we got on our coach and drove for a couple of hours towards our home for the week, the Hotel San Zeno, a (comfort), family-run accommodation, with a splendid view of Lake Garda. Starting the day with a self-led training, enjoying a boat tour on the lake, wandering along the streets of Sirmione for a few hours and heading off (play) a sport — these are just a few (example) of the kind of adventures you could be having!
The girls and boys on this tour seemed to enjoy (they) thoroughly, especially after winning ALL of their games! I found myself (cheer) them on like a proud aunt and celebrating afterwards with food, drink and social time, hosted by rugby clubs after matches. On the last day we headed back to airport, but not before stopping in Milan! We (pay) a visit to the San Siro museum and enjoyed a stadium tour before moving on to Milan city centre for anafternoon of shopping.
Jane asked ____ about _____.
Alison Malmon was a freshman when she got a call from her mother: Her fun, outgoing older brother, Brian, had taken his own 1.
When Malmon returned to school after Brian's funeral that spring of 2000, she was still 2 . But when she looked for help on campus, there was nobody to 3Back then, said Malmon, "Students weren't encouraged to talk about their worries about 4 . I started 5 on the fact that there was a great need to give help."
She was only 19 and had no 6 with mental health issues, but that didn't 7 her from launching Open Minds at Penn. Now, 20 years later and with a new name - Active Minds - it is the largest young adult mental health advocacy 8 in America. "What V m most 9 by is that my generation and the generations coming behind me are taking on mental health as a social justice 10" says Malmon. "Our tools are changing not only their campuses, but they're 11 their families too."
Active Minds' techniques are more 12 than ever. A survey found that 45 percent of students reported feeling so 13 in the previous months that it was difficult to function; 66 percent felt overwhelming anxiety; and 13 percent 14 considered suicide (自杀).
Malmon's goal has always been to 15 the prejudice against mental illness, the language and 16the word we use to talk about it. Take the word suicide for example. You don't say" commit a heart attack or cancer", 17 you will say "commit suicide". Suicide is the only death where we use that pejorative (贬低 的) word, she says. "If we take that 18 out of our conversation, we can make significant changes in how we 19 suicide to the point. If we change, we can give the people the20 they reach out for."
I want to do something special for my 15yearold son, who has always been a perfect boy. He worked all summer to earn enough money to buy (he) a new racingbicycle instead of asking for money from me. Then he spent hours and hours on it. I loved my son so much I bought him a pair of sunglasses and gloves. When my son rode the racingbicycle with him, he looked very cool. He dreamed taking part in a race and winning.
On November 10th, my birthday, when I went to the kitchen to start the milk and bread in the morning, I found beautiful guitar on the table, beside which was a card, (say), "Happy birthday to my wonderful mother." I was surprised and then began to sob. I remembered once I (joke) to my family that I wanted to learn the guitar to make my life wonderful. I (forget) it, but my son remembered. He took it (serious), and bought me one as a birthday gift. After (wonder) how my son could buy this expensive gift, I realized that my son had sold his racingbicycle (get) me the guitar.

A neighbor told us about a trip he took with his 3-years-old son. It was the first time the father and the boy have been away by themselves. The first night their spent in a hotel, the father moved his bed closely to the boy's and when they were all ready to sleep, he turned the light. After a few minutes, a little voice said, "It surely is dark, isn't it?" "No," said the father, "It's pretty dark, and everything is all right. " There was silent for a few more minutes, and then a small hand reached over and took the father's hand," I'll just hold your hand," said the little boy, "in case of you get frightened."
