It is reported that millions of Chinese students who entered the first year of primary or junior high school in September have received new versions of Chinese language textbooks, which attach more importance to traditional Chinese culture.
A man bought a donkey at the market one day and took him home on approval. Now the man owned several donkeys already and he knew each one's character very well.
One of the donkeys was very strong and brave. Another was eager to please but quickly exhausted. One donkey was very lazy. He hated going to work in the morning and he did as little as he possibly could all day long. When the other animals were being loaded up he always tried to be the last so that he would get the lightest load.
The man led the new donkey into the stable yard. For a moment he stood sniffing at his new companions. Then, without hesitation, he trotted up to the lazy donkey and began feeding comfortably at his side.
Though it was late in the day, the man immediately led the new donkey out of the yard, straight back to the market.
“You cannot have given him a fair trial yet,” said the merchant. “It is only ten minutes since you bought him.”
“I don't need to try him any more,” replied the man. “I know just what he is like from the friend he chose for himself. Take him away and give me my money back. I can do without donkeys like him.”

Significant numbers of high school students are receiving additional assistance from tutors. That requires a measure of time, commitment and sometimes a lot of money.
Tutors may be good for improving test scores, but they may harm a lot if students become overly dependent on tutors. Tutors' role should be one of assessment, monitoring and assistance, not to take over and perfect. Tutors may be used to "bridge the gap", but the responsibility stays on the student to take an active role in mastering the content and skills required for success.
I know kids who refuse to open their textbooks before the tutor gets in the house. Now I want to ask you a question: are you improving your study skills and developing learning intelligence with the "help" of your tutors?

Most people think it's fine to be “busy as a beaver (海狸).” But actually, although beavers may work hard, often they don't get much done.
Beavers are good at building dams and most beaver dams are wonders of engineering. The best ones are strongly built of trees, stones, and mud. They are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top.
Beavers think nothing of building a dam more than two hundred feet long. One dam, in Montana, was more than two thousand feet long. The largest one ever seen was in New Hampshire. It stretched four thousand feet. It made a lake large enough to hold forty beaver homes.
So beavers do build good dams. But they don't always build them in the right places. They just don't plan. They will build a dam across the widest part of the stream. They don't try to find a place where the stream is narrow. So a lot of their hard work is wasted.
Beavers should learn that it's not enough to be busy. You have to know what you're doing, too. For example, there was one Oregon beaver that really was a worker. It decided to fix a hole in a man-made dam. After five days of work it gave up. The hole it was trying to fill was the space that boats go through.

A post titled “Goodness, what have I done wrong to have to do homework with my kids!” caused a tremendous response in the society.
After millions of views on Sina Weibo, parents flocked to social media to share their own frustrating stories and experiences screaming and shouting their way through homework with their kids.
Now, millions of parents in China are calling for something that China's tiger mothers would have considered unthinkable only a few years ago - a break from homework.
Education chiefs are already fighting back against challenging workloads, with officials in the eastern Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and also the northern Ningxia province, ruling that homework should not become “parental homework” or be set “above the level of the curriculum or the ability of the student”.

Smartphones have become a necessary part of daily life. A study shows that smartphones owners usually start to use their phones in the morning. It appears that they can hardly go without their phones even for one day.
"I feel chained to the phone all the time. I use it for everything and I am in cellphone prison. It is time that I should do something to change the situation," 17-year-old Johnson said to CGTN.
According to new research carried out by Asurion, a global tech protection and support company, people all over the world check their phone on average once every 12 minutes—burying their heads in their phones 80 times a day and spending over five hours on the phones. That seriously affects their daily lives.
"Using smartphones definitely causes poor attention control," Abraham Zangen, a professor told CGTN. "It also leads to social stress ‘What are they thinking of me?'"

Parents always want the best for their children and giving them; the best education is always on top of the list. But if you think education is all they need, maybe you should think twice. Sure, you learn a lot of things in school, but there are important lessons and skills you will need in life that one can only learn at home. Therefore, teaching the children to do household chores is very helpful in their growth. Most families nowadays hire housemaids to do the chores, so children don't get to experience doing it anymore. But studies argue that it's still necessary to let children do them.
Helping at home can be a training place for your children to whatever responsibilities they may have in the future. By doing so, they can learn what might be of their advantage when they grow up. "Performing chores offers kids a feeling of self-sufficiency, helps them develop a work ethic, is tied to academic success in school, makes them feel useful and teaches them the importance of helping others and contributing to the greater good."
Although, most parents can also argue that it is not easy to force their children to do chores. It is a nature for the children to refuse to do chores when they are told to. But there are ways that can turn household chores into a more likely activity for the children. First, start them young. This doesn't mean that you let your children do huge tasks at an early age. You can gradually increase the level of tasks as they grow old but never ever push them too hard. Second, appreciate every little achievement. Praise them or give them something. Children love rewards and it drives them to do better.
Most importantly, let them know that asking them to help-out is not a punishment. Chores should never be used as a punishment. They might get done in the short term, but the effects won't last. This approach does not give the child the feeling of doing something because it is the right thing to do. It only makes them hate chores and hoping out even more. Chores should be used as a sense of purpose. Explain to them that it is for their benefit and everything they learn from it is for their advantage.
