What do you know about national parks? Are they the same as the common ones?
National parks are much bigger and they give a safe home to plants and animals. They help keep the environment clean. They are also great places to travel to. You can see colorful plants and wild (野生的) animals there.
China now has five national parks. They keep nearly 30 percent of the important wildlife species (物种) safe in China. Let's take a look at three of them.
Park I |
It is the largest national park in China. It is much bigger than Yellowstone National Park in the United States. It is home to the sources(发源地)of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers. It's also home to hundreds of animal species. |
Park II |
More than 70 percent of China's pandas live there. There are more than 1,600 wild pandas in China. The park joins 82 small panda homes in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu together. Pandas and some other wild animals can live and play together in the park. |
Park III |
It has the largest tropical forest in China. The forest covers nearly 74 percent of the park. More than 400 kinds of plants grow only in Hainan. There are 35 Hainan gibbons(长臂猿). They are the only members of the species in the world. And Hainan's three highest mountains are also in the park. |

Many years ago, there was an old man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge(判断) things too quickly. So he told them to go and look at a pear tree. It was far away from his home. The first, son went in winter, the second in spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in autumn.
When the sons came back, the old man asked them to say what they had seen.
The first son complained the tree was ugly. The second son said the tree was covered with buds and full of hope. The third son said the tree was full of green leaves. The youngest son said that the tree, bent down with heavy fruits.
The old man explained that all of his sons were right, but each of them had seen just one season of the tree, He told them that they couldn't judge a tree or a person by only one season. "If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the hope of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and the harvest of your autumn." said the old man.
It is true that we shouldn't let the hard season break the happiness of other seasons. Never give up during the difficult days and better times are sure to come some day.
