I'm David．When I was 13,my parents decided that I should go to England to improve my English．I had never been to other countries before，so I felt a little worried．My parents prepared everything for my journey．My plane was due(预期)to leave at 9：30 a．m．and arrive in two hours．I phoned the English family who I would stay with and they told me they would wait for me at the airport(机场)．

Unluckily my plane to London was delayed (延误)．I tried to phone the English family again but I couldn't speak to them because they had already left home for the airport．

When I arrived in London．it was already 1：30p.m．I went to get my luggage(行李)but I couldn't find it．I became very worried．Luckily, the airport staff(工作人员)was very helpful and efficient ． I didn't wait long-they found it 10 minutes later．

My English family were still waiting for me! I was so happy! Then my new life in London began．My English family were quite kind．I learned a lot of English because I spent most of the day talking in English．I played computer games with the little boy in my English family．I also taught him how to play chess．Sometimes I told him stories I learned from my family．

I missed my family during my stay in London．but I also feIt sad when my stay there came to an end．My English family held a party for me．I enjoyed it very much．I’ll never forget that summer in London! It is one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had．

    One morning, it was already a quarter to eight when I got up. I was afraid that I would be late so I put on my clothes hurriedly and left without breakfast.

    There were so many people at the bus stop that it was not easy to catch a bus. Five minutes went by, I still couldn't get on one. The only thing I could do was to walk. I rushed through the crowded and ran towards my school. Unexpectedly, I hit an old woman, and she fell down. Without saying sorry, I left her and went on my way.

    That evening, when I was back from school, I learned that the old woman was badly hurt in the leg from the fall. Some kind people sent her to a hospital after I left. I felt very sorry and nearly cried. The only way for me to ask her pardon was to pay her a visit.

    The next day, I went to the hospital, I met the old woman and told her who I was. At first I thought that she would give me   .   To my surprise, she didn't, but smiled. For me, that smile was worse. She touched my hand and said, “Never mind, my girl, I knew you didn't want to hurt me, did you? Don't worry, I will be better soon.”

Long long ago, King Swan (天鹅国王) had a beautiful daughter. On her 15th birthday, she wished that when she was old enough, she could choose her own husband. King Swan agreed with her.

When the princess was old enough, King Swan called all the birds to his home. Birds came from everywhere, even from far away. King Swan told his lovely daughter to choose one she liked. She looked over the many birds. Finally, she chose a green long-necked peacock (孔雀). She told her father, "This bird, the peacock, will be my husband."

Hearing that the peacock was the lucky one, all the other birds crowded around to congratulate (祝贺) him. The excited peacock said nothing but held his head high. Later he began to shout and show his beauty in a strange dance. The other birds started to laugh.

King Swan was angry. Standing in the middle of the birds, he said, "Sir Peacock, your voice is sweet, and you're really very pretty. But you are not modest at all. I will not allow my daughter to marry you!"

The princess also learned she was wrong. Then King Swan married his daughter to a modest bird. The peacock flew away, having lost a beautiful wife.
