It seems that Americans are more willing to help strangers than Chinese.
Once I walked on the street and tried to find my way to my hotel. I found that I was lost. So I stopped, took my map out and began searching for the right way. Then a lady came to me with a friendly smile. I wondered if I was in her way. Before I was about to stand aside (到旁边), the lady asked, "Do you need any help? I can show you the way." I was very surprised. In China, most people won't give you a hand unless you ask. I said yes to her. She carefully gave the directions to me. I was touched by her selfless behaviour and warm attitude (态度).
After experiencing many such things in the USA, I thought about the situation in China. My teacher in China told me that several years ago he travelled to another city by himself. After a whole day's hard work at a factory, he bought a pancake at a stall (货摊). But he later found that it was bad. The seller cheated (欺骗) him. Since then, he always checks the food he buys on the street. Even today we often see news that shows we don't trust strangers.
Chinese people are more vigilant to strangers because they are afraid to get hurt. But many American people believe that if you love others first, you will be loved. I think we should learn from this attitude and rebuild the trust among people.
Helen is my friend from London. She always tells me that London is a (绝妙的) place. And she believes (每人)will enjoy themselves there. There are lots of tall (建筑物). And she is (外向的) and she is interested in travel. She travels with her parents at (至少) twice a month. She believes that travelling is an important part in her life. It is (健康的) for body and mind. Of all the places she has visited, she likes New York best ,because it is both modern and (有名的). She was told that China is a large country with a long history. she is interested in Chinese (文化). This July, her family (计划) to come to China. I'm very happy they will first come to my city. They will stay here for two days. So we can (分享) many things together.
The cheese smells and it tastes sour.
Dear Patti,
I'm writing to you for some advice on my studies. As you know, football is a very popular sport in the world and I am very interested in it. I spend lots of time doing many things about football, like watching football matches, reading newspapers and magazines, and searching the web for more information about football. As a result(结果), it has certainly disturbed(妨碍)my study. Though I know to be a football fan is my hobby and my main task is to learn more knowledge in school, I can’t put my heart to my lessons and gradually I am tired of them. I am still a middle school student, and I'll have my own business when I grow up, and I don't want to do a job in the field of football much. But now I can't stop myself from loving football. So I feel very depressed(沮丧) and want to know how to deal with my studies and hobby.
Yours sincerely,
Patti

It was a beautiful spring morning. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the sun was warm but not too hot. Mr. White saw an old man at the bus stop with a big black umbrella in his hand.
Mr. White said to him, "Do you think it's going to rain today?"
"No," said the old man, "I don't think so."
"Then are you carrying the umbrella because the sun is too hot?"
"No, the sun is not very hot in spring."
Mr. White looked at the big umbrella again, and the man said, "I am an old man, and my legs are not very strong. I must have a walking stick. But people will say, 'Look, the man is so old.' And I don't like that. When I carry an umbrella in fine weather, people only say,' Look at that stupid man.'"
