I went to the seaside to spending my summer holiday with my family. We stayed there for two week. The weather was much hotter than in my hometown, but I got used to it or felt at home. Every morning, I got up early than my parents and went for breakfast ahead of the time. Then I went to have a chat with my new friend, John, whom I happen to come across during my holiday. John was a native and quite warm-heartedly man and he was familiar to the seaside well. Soon we became very good friends. Since we parted, we have kept write to each other.
As a teenager, I felt I was always letting people down. I was rebellious (叛逆的) outside, but I wanted to be1inside.
Once I left home to hitch-hike (搭便车) to California with my2Penelope. The trip wasn't3, and there were many times I didn't feel safe. One situation in particular kept me4to still be alive. When I5home, I was different, not so outwardly sure of myself.
I was6to be home. But then I noticed that Penelope, who was7with us, was wearing my clothes. And my family seemed to like her8than me. I wondered if I would be9if I weren't there. I told my mom, and she explained that though Penelope was a lovely girl, no one could10me. I pointed out, "She is more patient and is neater than I have ever been." My mom said these were wonderful11, but I was the only person who could fill my role. She made me realize that even with my12—and there were many—I was a loved member of the13who couldn't be replaced.
I became a searcher, wanting to14who I was and what made me unique. My view of myself was15. I wanted a solid base to start from. I started to16pressure to act in ways that I didn't like any more, and I was delighted by who I17was. I came to feel much more sure that no one can18take my place.
Each of us holds a unique place in the world. You are19, no matter what others say or what you may think. So20about being replaced. You can't be.
Recently I have found many of us students spend too much time sending text messages or (play) games on cell phones, which has negative effects on our students and also does them to our eyes. Worse still, it is waste of time. We have little time to communicate our parents and friends. do we have time for physical exercise.
What shall we do (improve) the situation? All of us should be (full) aware of the harmful effects of frequent use of cell phones. To begin with, let's limit our time (spend) on cell phones and start other hobbies. And we should spend more time playing sports, which is (benefit) to us. besides, talking with friends is also a good choice to help us relax and get rid of the (addict). I hope that my suggestions will be of help to you.
Let's put down our cell phones and focus on is happening around us!
We are a primary school in England. Our students start arriving at our playground from about 8:45 a.m. Most of the children live nearby, so they walk to school. But some children have to travel to school by car. Each of the children is dressed in a school uniform (校服) and carries the homework and packed lunch in a schoolbag.
School starts at 8:55 a.m. The teacher on duty blows a whistle (哨子) and the children line up in their class groups. They wait quietly for the teacher to send them to their classrooms. When they arrive at their classrooms, the children empty their schoolbags and put their homework in their boxes. After the children take their seats, the teacher reads out each child's name in turn. Upon hearing his / her name, the child replies “yes, Mrs. (the teacher's name)” and the teacher writes down whether the child is in school or not.
And then at 9:10 a.m. the children attend an assembly in our main hall. They sit on the floor in rows with the youngest children at the front and the older children at the back. As the children enter the hall, they listen to music quietly. Each week we have a different musical theme (主题). Besides, the children also listen to stories.
After the assembly, the first lesson of the day begins at 9:30 a.m. Our morning lessons are usually English and Maths. Each of these lessons lasts an hour. Between classes, the children have their morning break from 10:20 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. They eat their snacks (小吃) or play games like football on the playground. At the end of the break, the teacher on duty blows a whistle. The children stand still and wait to be told to line up.
Each day, the children have their lunch break from 12 noon to 1:10 p.m. Most of the children bring their own packed lunches from home. A packed lunch usually consists of sandwiches, fruit, a drink and a packet of crisps. Some children have a school dinner cooked in our school kitchen. While the children are waiting to have lunch or after they have finished eating, they play games on the playground or attend lunch-time clubs. We have teachers on duty, who look after the children during lunch breaks. After the lunch break, the children have afternoon lessons, which continue until 3:15 p.m. when the children go home.

Our family once got into a difficult situation. My father's1came to a stop after a serious crisis(危机). All that my father was2with was some experience. At the same time, he had to be3for a family of four.
My father was a very hard-working person and he did not lose4even when he was facing difficulties.5he was the only person that earned money in our family, he had6in deciding what to do at first. He didn't know7it was better to find a job or to start a new business, but he chose the8in the end. This was because he thought he had many9and had nothing to fear, as he had nothing to lose.He was a person10to follow his dreams and was not11of the challenges and troubles he faced. He kept approaching(与……接洽) different companies and12the business was successful.
He used to tell me when you stop13it is then that you fail. From him I learnt that if you believe in yourself and14moving towards your goals, then there is nothing you cannot achieve.
Today, our business is going well.It is from him that I have learnt that when we are facing a15, or are not able to realize our dreams, we don't always have to do anything special—we just need to try harder.
There’s a trend that more city people decide that they want to grow crops and raise some live-stock (家禽). After all, there are few things more satisfying than biting into a bunch of tender, red carrots you grow yourself, or a fresh egg from the backyard.
Most gardeners understand that the soil in big cities is often polluted with lead and know to get their soil tested. But most are pretty clueless about how to prevent other types of pollutants, like heavy metals and asbestos(石棉)from getting into their vegetables.
Part of the problem is that “there might be pollutants that gardeners can’t test for,” says Brent Kim, a program officer. Most soil tests look for lead, cadrniunt(镉)and arsenic(砷). But they don’t test things like chemicals left behind by cars, which might have escaped into the soil.
So if you’re thinking of staring an urban garden, Kim says, once you’ve found a plot of land, you should learn what’s now an empty plot or a backyard might once have been a parking lot, a gas station or a chemical ground. “Knowing its past will give you some idea about what might be in that soil,” he says.
“People tend to think raised beds are going to solve their pollution problem,” Kim says. But polluted soil could easily kicked onto your plants, especially if the beds are low to the ground.
“Another consideration is that you have to be careful about the materials that you’re using to build a raised bed,” Kim says. Recycling wood from an old construction site might seem like a good, eco-friendly idea. But that wood could be treated with chemicals you don’t want touching your fruits and veggies, Kim says. And it’s always a good idea to use gloves while gardening, and wash all your produce thoroughly.
“I see these urban growing spaces as these oases(绿洲)in the middle of these urban environments,” Kim says. “They bring communities together, and they help people save money on fresh produce. Urban growing spaces are amazing. Let’s keep doing this, but let’s do it safely.”

There’s a science to setting goals. Below, we share some research-backed tips to help you carry out successful goals.
Choose a goal that 61 (matter), not just easy win.
A meaningful goal— 62 that truly inspires you to change—requires going deeper. Think about what you want in the coming year, then ask yourself why you want that. For example, if you want to quit 63 (smoke), ask why do you want to quit? Then, if you want to quit for your health, ask why do you want good health?
Set up your goals positively.
How you describe your goal makes a big 64 (differ). Focusing on what you want to bring into your life—not what you want to avoid—will make you more likely to 65 (actual) struggle for it.
Prepare for failure (in a good way).
Moments of failure can’t 66 (avoid), but most of us abandon the goal entirely when slight failures start piling up. At the moment when you fail, often the first instinct (本能) is to push the goal away. It’s so __67__ (comfort) to be in that condition of self-doubt or self-criticism and guilt.
Your task is not to avoid failures, 68 to plan for them. For example, if you’re likely to choose unhealthy meals when you’re hungry, carry a light snack with you.
69 conclusion, wise choices and full preparations are 70 (rely) measures to reach our goals.
Education department aims teachers’ teaching abilities, so they let all teachers attend training in summer.
