How to Be Productive During Difficult Times
When we are struggling, or when we have a hard time focusing, we may turn to others for help. We may even wish we had a hero to help us. Well, today here is some advice for you.
Turn ourselves into our own heroes.
When we make ourselves heroes, we not only gain focus hut also a sense of purpose. For example.it can give us hope as stories in the books often do. In stories, writers often give their hero, the main person in the story, a purpose.
Write out our tasks and ideas.
In stories, heroes also have tasks, which they want to finish and ideas, which they see for themselves, So we can write out our tasks and ideas, not just for a project but for our life as well. With clear tasks and ideas, events in our life no longer seem to be separate events. There's just a lot of value in having tasks and ideas.
When we know our strengths, we can use them fully. In difficult times, we can make our life easier by focusing on our strengths. It is even more important to identify weaknesses. All heroes have then. On their journey they face their weaknesses and learn from them.
Have small goals within a larger goal.
As we know, the hero's journey is not a one-time thing. It is a journey we arc on in our entire life.
Our life's journey is ongoing and ever-changing. We should be realistic with our goals and to be kind to ourselves, especially during difficult times
A. Learn from heroes in stories.
B. We often live a life without purpose.
C. Know our strengths and weaknesses.
D. They become part of our larger stories.
E. So have small goals that we can measure in some way.
F. We can do the same for ourselves and identify our purposes.
D. Making ourselves the heroes in our own stories helps us in many ways.

A great loss--Shirley Temple dies at 85
February 12, 2014
BY DERRIK J. LANG, Associated Press
Shirley Temple Black, who died on February 10th at age 85, wasn’t just a child star. She was the child star—the sweet little girl whose shining smile helped illumine some of the darkest days the US has known during the Great Depression.
It’s hard today to imagine the super star Shirley was once ―America’s Little Darling. By 1940, she had appeared in 43 films. Temple worked with Bill Robison in four movies, and their dance on the stairs is still a legendary(传奇的) film moment.
In the 1930s, she was so popular that she inspired dresses, toys, dishes—even a drink (alcohol-free, of course).
US President Franklin D. Roosevelt once famously said that ―as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right. Unlike so many of today’s child stars, Temple didn’t end up with her name appearing across the headlines for bad behaviors. Instead of getting her photos on front pages or struggling with drugs and alcohol, Temple went on to a second career (生涯) in diplomacy (外交), including presidential appointments as ambassador(大使) to Ghana.
Her career in public service (20 years) was longer than her career in movies (19years). The role she valued most, however, was as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The world has lost a treasured Hollywood legend. But her movies will continue charming audiences for a very long time.
29. The word ―illumine in Paragraph l means_________.
A. shorten B. widen C. brighten D. darken
30. What part did she regard as the most important in her life?
A. A top movie star. B. Her family role.
C. Her diplomacy career. D. A businesswoman.
31. Where does this passage possibly come from?
A. A film. B. A newspaper. C. A magazine. D. A poster.
In the game of life, if it often seems like you’re on the losing end of things, you’re not alone.Life can be one giant conundrum(难解的问题)filled with ups and downs. When you feel like you’re experiencing more downs than ups, sometimes it helps to get a little tough love once in a while. That’s why we put together this list of harsh(残酷的)truths that will help you grow.
A.The first step is always the hardest.
B.You can’t always be in control of everything.
C.Life isn’t fair.
D.Not everyone will support you along the way.
E.You are the only thing holding yourself back from greatness.
F.You can’t accomplish great things without taking great risks.
66.
Life will hand you lemons, often when you least expect it.The sooner you embrace this harsh truth, the better prepared you’ll be to handle tough situations that are sure to arise.
67.
Here’s another harsh truth many people have trouble grasping: if you don’t take risks you will have a lot harder time accomplishing what you want in life.People who truly change the world are the biggest risk takers. They’re the ones who are willing to put everything on the line and fail for something they believe in.And they treat each failure as an opportunity to grow and get better.
68.
In life, there’s no shortage of doubters, haters, and pessimists.Overcoming this harsh truth is simple: don’t listen.Choose to stick with your guns, trust your instincts, and forget about people who don’t support your goals and passions.
69.
Let’s face it: changing bad habits is tough.Research proves it.Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” So if you want to change something, start with baby steps.Take a small action–any action–and grow from there.
70.
Listen, letting go is hard, especially if you’re a go-getter.But if you want to continue to grow, there are times when you need to let go your control on everything and let things unfold how they’re meant to be.This doesn’t mean your mentality for everything should be “wait and hope.” You can still strive for greatness, but put the work in and then let go with complete faith that the universe will make things right for you. You’ll be amazed at how well it works.
