Dereck and Beverly are wildlife animal filmmakers(电影制片人). They have made lots of films about animals and plants.

Their job is to keep and protect the big cats of Africa from damage(伤害). Beverly also takes photos of the lions and her pictures have appeared in National Geographic magazines.

When they were kids, Dereck was quiet and healthy, he was good at math and science. Beverly had a twin brother. At that time, her brother and she often got their mother into trouble! When in the field, their work starts at around 4 am. After drinking a cup of tea, they drive out into a bush(灌木丛)to find their subjects. Sometimes that is a lion pride(群). Lions are family animals, they usually live in groups of 15 or more. Sometimes that is a single leopard(花豹). They follow the animals for the day, filming, researching, and collecting facts, information or pictures. They don’t stop working even when they have lunch. They are often back in camp by 8 pm.

When talking about the favourite places to explore, Dereck says, We live in it! Beverly thinks being in nature is her favourite. The day before my daughter Norah’s fourth birthday, I picked her up from preschool. On the way, she said, “I like old people best because they walk slowly like I walk slowly and they have soft skin like I have soft skin.”What she said marked a    16   beginning.

The following day—her birthday—again on the way home, she asked    17    we could stop at the store to buy cakes for her. How could I say    18    to a birthday girl? After paying for the bill, I noticed that Norah was standing up in the cart,    19   announcing, “Hi, old person! It’s my birthday today!” However, the old man in front of her  didn’t show he was   20    by my talkative child. He    21    with a smile, “Well, little lady! Norah asks about Mr. Dan every day. She worries about him. She wonders if he’s    26   , or cold. She wants him to be OK. She wants him to feel loved. Mr. Dan thinks about Norah too. After    27    recent visit, he said that he had    28    had a whole night’s sleep since his wife died. “Norah has healed me since meeting her.” he said. That left me    29    and my eyes wet with tears. Somehow, their hearts and souls seem to recognize each other from long ago. Sometimes talking to strangers can    30    beautiful new beginnings.

Sleepwalking (梦游) is when your child gets out of bed and walks around as if he’s awake, but he’s actually asleep. Sleepwalking doesn’t hurt your child, and it usually disappears when the kid grows up.

Sleepwalking happens during deep sleep. Your child might get out of bed and walk around as if he’s awake, but he won’t respond normally to you or anything around him. This may make you upset. But try not to worry—your child is OK.

In fact, sleepwalking is quite common. 7% to 15% of children sleepwalk, and it doesn’t usually mean that there’s anything wrong with them. Children aged 4 to 12 are more likely to sleepwalk. Both boys and girls sleepwalk.

Sleepwalking often happens in the first few hours of the night. When it happens, your child’s mind is asleep. However, his body is awake at the same time.

Sleepwalking usually has something to do with age and development. However, some things can increase your child’s sleepwalking. For example:

●Bad habits that cause poor sleep

●Fever or some other illnesses

●A family history of sleepwalking

●Medical conditions that cause poor sleep

If your child is sleepwalking at least once every night, it’s best to see a doctor. Also see a doctor if your child’s sleepwalking is influencing the sleep of other family members, or if you’re worried your child might hurt himself while sleepwalking.
