Nowadays, the electric bicycle is developing fast, many kinds of that can be seen on the
road. It is popular with more and more people. Why? The reasons are simply.
First of all, it is much convenient than taking a bus or taxi. What's
more important is that it
saves strength and goes fast, so the rider feel less tired. Also it is easy of anybody to ride,
whet
her old or young. Finally, it is not only energy-saving but also environmentally friendly.
Every coin has the two sides. The electric bike also has it’s disadvantages. On the one hand, the
rider may lose the alternative to be physical involved while riding, which is not beneficial to
health. On the other hand, it may also lead to more traffic accidents. Personally, the electric
bicycle does our more good than harm. As long as the rider drives carefully, the number of
accidents can greatly reduced.

In clearer terms, she let my parents and I effectively "steal" the computer every Friday night after everyone left as long as we had it back Sunday night and ready for Monday morning.
This was massive, in case that's unclear. She played favorites and made a deal. She picked me out because she knew without focus that I would be trouble. They used to joke that I would be voted "most likely to be accused of a white-collar crime.” This was a $2000+ computer in the middle of the 80s - the pride of the school and they let me take it home. I can't imagine what would have happened had we broken it.
Each Friday evening my Dad would back his pickup up to the outside door of her class and we would go away with the Apple II. I'd spend the weekend programming, reading the massive spiral notebooks of Apple inside structures and generally staying away from trouble.
A year or so later when it was clear that I had an ability in computers, I came home from school one day and the family car was gone and there was a Commodore 64 left in its place. My Mom and Dad had sold the pickup and bought a Commodore.
When it's 30 years later and you're hanging with your wife and perhaps watching your kids play you will find yourself thinking about how this crazy journey happened. I am standing on the shoulders not only of computer science giants, but also unsung heroes like my parents and my 5th grade teacher. I look forward to the time when I will make sacrifices for my kids and the children in my life. I hope I make those decisions as unselfishly as did the adults in my life.
Thank you Mrs. Hill, for introducing me to computers even though you were breaking half dozen rules to make it happen.
Thanks, Mom and Dad for bringing a computer into our house even when there wasn't money for one.

B. Because the teacher wanted him to have a busy weekend.

D. Because the teacher wanted him to be a computer science giant.
4. How does the author sound when telling the story?

Imagine having an idea, drawing it on paper, bringing it to a store and seeing it turned into a physical object. This is now possible with the help of 3D printers. Such machines were once used just by universities and big companies, but now, stores with 3D printing services are appearing around the United States.
Bryan Jaycox and his wife opened The Build Shop LLC in Los Angeles two years ago. The store is filled with tools like a laser cutter, an industrial sewing machine and 3D printers. The Jaycoxs offer 3D printing classes and services for anyone who is interested.
“I think 3D printing is going to be huge. It’s going to have a huge effect on society as a whole.” One of the students in a recent class was KiChong Tran. He plans to open a 3D printing business in Cambodia.
3D printing services are becoming available for American consumers.
The UPS Store is a nationwide retailer(零售商)that provides shipping, copying and other services. The UPS Store recently put 3D printers in three of its independently-owned stores. Burke Jones owns one of the stores in San Diego.
“The demand has been amazing. It’ s been much more than I would have imagined.” The UPS Store plans to add 3D printers in three more stores.
At The UPS Store, the cost of the object depends on the amount of materials used. The store charges up to $95 an hour to design the object with computer software that creates a digital file to guide the printer.
Mr. Jaycox predicts that within five years, 3D printing technology could become more popular. But KiChong Tran says even current technology can make a difference in a developing country like Cambodia.
“With 3D printing, you can give them tools; you put it in their hands so they are responsible more for their own development and they learn skills beyond just learning English and becoming a tour guide or something like that or working at a bank; you can actually create things that give value to the world.”
He says it’s not just in Cambodia but anywhere where there is a 3D printer that it can turn a good idea into reality.

A strange army of giants stands around the edges of a remote island in the Pacific Ocean.Or at least that's how it might appear. The figures lining Easter Island are actually huge stones carved to look like hulking(笨重的)human figures. The statues have”guarded” these coasts for centuries. But not even the islanders are sure how they got there.Join scientific detectives as they investigate this historical mystery.
The Mystery
Nearly a thousand giant stone figures stand side by side on Easter Island, now a part of Chile.Called moai (MOH-eye) by the locals, the statues can weigh more than 80 tons一about as much as ten whales一and some stand as tall as a three-story building.
Scientists think islanders began creating the moai some 800 years ago to honor their ancestors. In land, scientists found a volcanic crater and dug out ancient tools there used to carve figures from the volcanic rock. But the crater(火山口) is far from where most of the statues now stand. And scientists know the people didn't have wheels or animals to move the rock giants.
So how did the stone figures travel as far as 11 miles from the crater to the island's coasts? Some ideas are pretty wild一people have suggested that the moai walked by themselves, or even that space aliens beamed down to lend a hand.Scientists struggled to Easter Island to find out the truth.
The Detectives
"Heave-ho!" cry a group of scientists as they pull on ropes tied to a huge statue. The investigators are seeking clues about the moai in one of Easter Island's green valleys.Wondering if the islanders could have transported the statues upright with just rope and muscle power, they wrapped three strong ropes around the forehead of a ten-foot-tall moai copy. With several people pulling each rope.they're able to rock the 10,000-pound figure side to side, moving it forward with every tug(拖拽)·"The statue's shape makes this movement fairly easy," team leader Carl Lipo says.
In the past, researchers have tried other moving methods. One group tied rope to the top and base of an actual moai and attempted to drag it forward with twisting motions.Another team laid a real 13-foot moai onto a giant log and pulled the log forward. All the experiments shared one result: The investigators got serious pain!
The Evidence
Although various scientific sleuths (侦查) found ways to move the moai, researchers still don't agree on what really happened.Some of these techniques might have only worked over short distances and on flat land.Others would have damaged the moai.;
Many people think the statues were laid horizontally on wooden sleds which were dragged with rope across log tracks."This would have been the safest way to move the moai," archaeologist Jo Anne Van Tilburg says."It explains why hardly any are damaged."
But the truth may never be revealed.(Experts are pretty sure, though, that aliens weren't involved.)After all, the islanders stopped making the statues at least 300 years ago, later hundreds of islanders left the island or caught deadly diseases brought by explorers. Many of the tnoai's secrets disappeared with them.Today the only remaining witnesses to the events are the moai themselves. And the lips of these stone-faced giants are sealed.
59.How many possible ways of moving the rock giants are mentioned in the passage?
A.Three. B.Four. C.Five. D.Six.

I’ve always had strong opinions of how love should be expressed, but others had their own ways of showing care.
What I 36 most about visiting my boyfriend’s parents is the loud tick of the clock in the dining room as we 37 ate our meal. With so little conversation I was quick to 38 his family as cold. When we got into the 39 to go home, his father suddenly appeared. 40 , he began to wash his son’s windscreen. I could feel he is a caring man through the glass.
I learned another lesson about love a few years later. My father often 41 me early in the morning. “Buy Xerox. It’s a good sharp price,” he might say when I answered the phone. No pleasant 42 or inquiry about my life, just financial instructions. This manner of his 43 me and we often quarreled. But one day, I thought about my father’s success in business and realized that his concern for my financial security lay behind his 44 morning calls. The next time he called and told me to buy a stock, I 45 him.
When my social style has conflicted with that of my friends, I’ve often felt 46 . For example, I always return phone calls 47 and regularly contact with my friends. I expect the same from them. I had one friend who rarely called, answering my messages with short e-mails. I rushed to the 48 : She wasn’t a good friend! My anger 49 as the holidays approached. But then she came to a gathering I 50 and handed me a beautiful dress I had fallen in love with when we did some window-shopping the previous month. I was 51 at her thoughtfulness, and regretful for how I’d considered her to be 52 . Clearly I needed to change my expectations of friends.
Far too often, I ignored their 53 expressions, eagerly expecting them to do things in my 54 .Over the years, however, I’ve learned to 55 other persons’ love signs.

The latest research suggests that the key factor separating geniuses from the merely accomplished is not I.Q., a generally bad predictor of success. Instead, it’s purposeful practice. Top performers spend more hours practising their craft. If you wanted to picture how a typical genius might develop, you’d take a girl who possessed a slightly above average language ability. It wouldn’t have to be a big talent, just enough so that she might gain some sense of distinction. Then you would want her to meet, say, a novelist, who coincidentally shared some similar qualities. Maybe the writer was from the same town, had the same family background, or shared the same birthday.
This contact would give the girl a vision of her future self. It would give her some idea of a fascinating circle who might someday join. It would also help if one of her parents died when she was 12, giving her a strong sense of insecurity and fuelling a desperate need for success. Armed with this ambition, she would read novels and life stories of writers without end. This would give her a primary knowledge of her field. She would be able to see new writing in deeper ways and quickly understand its inner workings.
Then she would practise writing. Her practice would be slow, painstaking and error-focused. By practising in this way, she delays the automating process. Her mind wants to turn conscious, newly learned skills into unconscious, automatically performed skills. By practising slowly, by breaking skills down into tiny parts and repeating, she forces the brain to internalize a better pattern of performance. Then she would find an adviser who would provide a constant stream of feedback, viewing her performance form the outside, correcting the smallest errors, pushing her to take on tougher challenges. By now she is redoing problems—how do I get characters into a room—dozens and dozens of times. She is establishing habits of thought she can call upon in order to understand or solve future problems.
The primary quality our young writer possesses is not some mysterious genius. It’s the ability to develop a purposeful, laborious and boring practice routine; the latest research takes some of the magic out of great achievement. But it underlines a fact that is often neglected. Public discussion is affected by genetics and what we’re “hard-wired” to do. And it’s true that genes play a role in our capabilities. But the brain is also very plastic. We construct ourselves through behavior.

A. the function of I.Q. in cultivating a writer
B. the relationship between genius and success
C. the decisive factor in making a genius
