A new study has found that social media  could be affecting the sleep of young adults. The study is a project of researchers at the University of PiiLshurgh's School of Medicine, They found that young  people who often use social media are more likely to suffer from sleep   than

those  who  use social  media  less.

The researchere say doctors should ask young adults  about their use of social media when treating  sleep issues. “This is one 0f the pieces of evidence that social media use really can affect your sleep, saidJessica  C, Levenson. She is a postdoctoral researcher in the university's  Difpartment  of  Psychiatry. She was the lead author of a report on the study. The researchers set out to exmine the connection belween social   media use and sleep among  young adults.

The researchers  wanted  to find  out how often young people used social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and etc.,Far the study, they gave questionnaires to nearrly 1, 800  adults, aged 19 to  32, On average, members of the study group used social media sites one hour a day. They also visited various social media  accounts 30 times per week. Thirty percent of ihe study's   participants reported havingserious problems with  sleepping. Those people who used social madia  a  lot were three times more likely Id have a sleep disorder. And those who spent the most time on  serial media were two times  as likely to suffer from sleep disturbances.

Frequent checking is big part of the problem. Levenson said the number of a person visits media is a better  predictor of sleep problems than overall time spent  on serial metdia. If this is true, she adda, then practices that stop such  behaviors may be most effective.

Researchers say social media  can influence sleep patterns in a number of ways, People can lose sleep by staging up too late looking   at social media. Sensitive    issues  about on social  media pan cause emotional ,cognitive or  physiological excitement . Using  an electrenic device   can disturb    body's  natural sleep  rhythms  because of the light coming from cell phones or  computer screens. The researchere note  that  in some cases,, young adults who have a hard time sleeping may use social media to help them fall asleep.

It also may be that both of these  hypotheses (假定)are true, says Brian A. Primack. He is director of the Center for Research on Media, Tehnology and Health. He is also the study's senior aurhor. Primack says,“ Difficult  sleeping may lead to increased   use  of social media, which may in turn lead to more problems sleeping. This cycle may be particularly problematic   with social media. Many forms of social media involve interractive  screen time thal is stimulating(刺激) and rewarding and, for thoae reasons, can keep you awake.

34.From   the results  of the questionnaire , who are  more  likely to have a sleep problem?

It's true that many dads in the wild aren't interested in parenting, but there are some that work pretty hard to give their little ones a good start. Maybe one of these dads will make you remember your own dad!

The male giant water bug doesn’t seem to mind a heavy load on his back for his kids. The female puts about 100 to 150 eggs on the back of the male, and then she leaves. Once the female is gone, the male has to look after the eggs. It usually takes one to two weeks for the eggs to hatch. The father giant water bug jumps around to make sure the growing eggs get enough air and water. All this time he can't fly because of the weight of the eggs growing rapidly on his back.

Now let's turn to the male stickleback fish. When the mother leaves after laying her eggs, the father tends his young. If the young fish go too far away, their father helps with their safe return by carrying them back in his mouth. The male stickleback looks after all his young — as many as 100 — until they can live on their own.

A similar example can be found in emperor penguins living in cold areas. The male emperor penguin goes without food while looking after his egg until it hatches. For about 62 to 67 days, the egg stays on top of the father's feet, in very cold temperatures that drop down to -39. As a result, the father may lose nearly 50 percent of his body weight while waiting for his baby penguin to be born!

30What do we know about the giantwater bug?

A. It is unable to fly.

B. The eggs grow on the father's back.

C. The male must keep still to hatch the eggs.

32What is the best title for the text?

You might think that Western students are less shy when it comes to getting on with the opposite sex, but the truth is that pupils in the UK can feel just as awkward. British are actually quite reserved (保守的) and being at university can make them feel out of their comfort zone. Everyone finds it difficult to talk to the opposite sex on campus.

However, there is a way of dealing with this shyness in Britain, and it is called "Freshers Week". "Freshers Week" is designed to help people socialize and lose their reservation. It is a one-week long party for first year students to welcome them before lectures and lessons begin.

I remember my first week at university it was terrifying. I looked at the schedule for "Freshers Week" and was amazed at how much was planned. Every hall where students live organizes its own events to help students become friends with the people they live with. My hall was called "Goldney Hall" and the week ahead included a talent show, a comedy night, and themed parties, including one for which we had to dress up as golfers.

The first event I went to was a school kid's party at which everyone dressed up as if they were in school. This party encouraged me to talk to all the people on my floor. One boy, who lived opposite my room, was very handsome and I felt nervous speaking to him at first. But when we met at the party dressed in silly school clothes, I felt a lot more relaxed speaking to him.

It sounds strange, but dressing up seems to be how British overcome their shyness at university. My "Freshers Week" was terrifying, but I managed to forget how scared I was.
