Australia has always had bushfires, but this year it's had an early and huge start to the bushfire season. Several bushfires that were already huge have joined together to cover an area of nearly 2,000 square miles.

It's hard to find enough fire fighters and equipment to deal with all the fires. This week, the government began to get the army involved(参与) in the fire-fighting.

Though thousands of fire fighters have been working to fight the fires, some fires are simply too large to be controlled. Winds have helped spread the fires. And dry weather conditions have made it harder to find the water needed.

Recent fires have trapped(困住) some people in cities and towns along the coast. On Wednesday, around 4,000 people were forced to the beach by a big bushfire and trapped there until the wind direction changed.

Tourists have been told to leave a 112-mile-long stretch(地带) of coast in New South Wales. Fire fighters warn that visitors leave the area before Saturday, when conditions are expected to get worse.

However, leaving won't be easy, since many roads are closed and many gas stations are running low on fuel(燃料). What would help the most at this point is rain. An expert said, "It was nature which started the fires and it will be nature that stops these fires."

  1. (1) Who did the government ask to fight against the fire this week?
  2. (2) What made it harder to find the water to put out the fires?
  3. (3) How many people were trapped at the beach on Wednesday?
  4. (4) Why was it not easy to leave the area?
  5. (5) If there is a heavy rain, will it be helpful with the situation?

If you find it hard to start talks, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to that person?

Think more about the ways to enjoy the party or the game. Don't waste time worrying about your looks or whether people like you or not.

When we think of summer, most of us think of fun activities outdoors. So it seems easy to lose weight over the summer. In fact, though, it's quite possible for us to put on weight. The good news is that we can avoid these problems if we know these ways.

Here are some ways to keep summer weight away.

When we don't have a plan, it's easy to spend summer moving from bed to the computer. So it is necessary to make a work or study plan, like learning a new skill or working at a job.

Because we don't have to go to school, it's easy to sleep late, watch too much TV and eat more snacks as usual. So it's necessary to make sure your summer days follow a schedule -- getting up at the same time each day and eating meals as usual times.

Whenever you're free, find something special to do, like making a dinner for your family. But remember: limit your screen time, no more than two hours a day.

If it's too hot outside or you don't like going to a gym, you can do you exercise indoors. If you love being outdoors, try swimming, running or playing soccer in the early morning or evening. Anyway, don't let the heat stop your exercise plans.

Don't eat too much meat. Choose some fresh fruit. It's better to put your focus on talking with your family and friends, not on food. Also, don't eat too many frozen things like ice cream.

A. Beat the heat                           B. Make a work or study plan

C. Think about what to eat                   D. Stay busy

E. Put everything in a schedule
