    Johnson is a 10-year-old girl from New York City. She likes staying up late to watch movies on her iPad. Sometimes because she does not have enough sleep, she feels tired at school next morning.

    Just like Johnson, many students feel tired at school in the morning. The kids aged between 6 and 13 need nine to eleven hours of sleep each night, but most of them get less than that.

    What takes the kids' sleep time away? Smart phones and tables (智能手机和平板电脑)! A scientist said, "The kids who have these things in their bedroom often get about half an hour less sleep than those who don't."

    Scientists think a good night's rest is important to students. "The students who sleep enough can learn much better at school than those who don't," another scientist said.

    Johnson's mother said her family decided to make some new rules for her daughter. "we are going to limit(限制) Johnson' screen time and ask her to go to bed earlier than before. We hope these rules can help Johnson to sleep well for school," she said.

Teeth are important. Strong, healthy teeth help you chew(咀嚼) foods that help you grow. They help you speak clearly. And yes, they help you look best. Here are some tips for you to take care of your teeth:

⒈Brush your teeth the right way.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day – after breakfast and before bedtime. If you can, brush after lunch or after sweet snacks, too. Brush all of your teeth, not just the front ones. Spend time brushing teeth along the sides and back of your mouth. Spend at least three minutes each time you brush. Play a song you like to help pass the time. Get a new toothbrush every three months. When you buy toothbrush, be sure it has soft bristles(鬃毛).

⒉Learn how to floss(用牙线清洁牙齿) your teeth.

Flossing is a very important way to keep your teeth healthy. Food may hide between two teeth. Flossing can help get rid of (除去)it. You'll need to floss your teeth at least once a day.

⒊Have good eating habits.

You need to be careful about what you eat and drink. Eating sugar is a main reason of tooth decay(蛀牙).Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink water instead of soda(苏打).

    Once，there was a young painter who was good at painting birds. His paintings soldand he was famous all over his country.

    The emperor loved collecting(收藏)paintings，especially roosters(公鸡). he asked the famous painter to paint a rooster for him. He wanted the rooster to be the best of all his collections.

     The painterto do so. The emperor waited and waited for one year, but did not get the painting. He became and asked the painter to come to see him.

    The painter came. He walked into the palacepaper, paints and a brush. In five minutes，a perfect(完美的)picture of a roosteron the paper. Seeing this，the emperor was all the more angry.“If you can paint a picture of a rooster in five minutes，did you keep me waiting for a year?”he said.

    “I'll let you know why，Your Majesty ”said the painter. “Could you please come with me?”

    My name is Sam. I joined a club called "passing help" last month. Now let me tell you why I joined it.

    One evening this May, on my way home my old car broken down. It was 25 miles from my home. I wanted to get a ride(搭便车), but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to a bus stop nearby.

    After a while, a bus came, but it did not go to my town. The bus driver was a young woman. She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes, but no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car. She was just the bus driver.

    "When I reached the bus station, I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come, so I returned here. I just can't leave you here," she said, "Get in my car and l will take you back to your home."

    "It is a long way." I said.

    "Come on, sir," she said, "Let's go."

    On the way she told me a story. A few days ago，there wasn't gas(汽油)  in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.

    When we got to my home, I wanted to give her some money to thank her, but she didn't accept. "I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along." she said.
