A few students are giving their opinions about what a good friend should be like.
Kelly says, "I think a good friend should be honest (诚实的). That's more important than any other thing. And it is the start of a real friendship. If one isn't honest, he may lose his friends' trust.
Tom answers, "I think a good friend has to be generous. Here being generous doesn't mean he has to give his friends money or clothes. It means that he should share his ideas and feelings with his friends. In fact, his friends can know him better in this way.
Amy replies, "In my opinion, a good friend should understand his friends. When there is something wrong between him and his friends, he must put himself in his friends' place and think more for his friends.
Lucy says, "A good friend should be playful. Friends can play with us. They can make us laugh when we are sad or lonely.
Judy thinks good friends should be helpful. A good friend always has your back. When you are in trouble, he has no problem being there.
—They are still in great pain.
—It doesn't matter. Enjoy yourself here.
—Only some eggs.
Tom is than any other in my class.

It was a beautiful spring morning. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the sun was warm but not too hot. Mr. White saw an old man at the bus stop with a big and black umbrella in his hand.
Mr. White said to him, "Do you think it's going to rain today?"
"No," said the old man, "I don't think so."
"Then are you carrying the umbrella because the sun is too hot?"
"No, the sun is not very hot in spring."
Mr. White looked at the big umbrella again, and the man said, "I am old man, and my legs are not very strong. I must have a walking-stick. But people will say, 'Look, the man is so old, and I don't like that.' When I carry an umbrella in fine weather, people only say, 'look at that stupid man.'"
