Australia is the smallest continent in the world. It is a little smaller than China. It is on the Southern Hemisphere of the earth. Australia is big, but its population is small. The population of Australia is nearly as large as that of Shanghai.
Enough laws have been made to fight against pollution. The cities in Australia have little air or water pollution. The sky is blue and the water is clean. You can clearly see fish in the rivers. Plants grow very well.
Last month we visited Perth, the biggest city in Western Australia, and went to a wild flower exhibition. There we saw large numbers of wild flowers on show, most of which we had never seen before. We had a wonderful time. Perth is famous for its beautiful wild flowers. Every year in spring Perth has a wild flower exhibition. After visiting Perth, we spent a day in the countryside. We sat down and had a rest near a path at the foot of a hill. It was quiet and we enjoyed ourselves very much. When we heard bells ringing at the top of the hills, we looked up, but what we saw made us pick up all our things and run back to our car as quickly as we could. There were about three hundred sheep coming towards us along the path.

Learning a foreign language can be interesting. 61 In order to increase your chances of success, it is important to consider which method of language learning will provide you with the most benefits. So think about the three ways of learning a language: self-study at home, attending classes and online courses.
The main disadvantage of learning by yourself is that there is no one available to answer your questions. One way to deal with this is to make a list of your
questions and ask for the help of a native speaker of the language regularly. 62
Learning a foreign language in a classroom is probably the most popular choice. The regularity(规律性) of the lessons will encourage you to attend. 63 In most cases, the enthusiasm of the other students may also encourage you to make progress.
Online learning is the newest method of learning a foreign language. It suits both the students who prefer to learn alone and the students who may prefer to attend a class but are unable to do so. 64 It is also possible to ask questions and to communicate with other students online.
Whichever method you choose, keep in mind the reasons why you are learning the language. 65 This will help you stay focused throughout the learning process.
A. Many students prefer to learn by themselves.
B. But it can also be difficult, frustrating and boring.
C. You should also make sure you will benefit from it.
D. You will be able to ask the teacher questions face to face.
E. You may even decide to ask others sometimes to help your self-study.
F. Online learning makes the whole process more interesting and fun.
G. Your personality should be considered when deciding which method of learning to use.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Susan,
Please forward this message to students of my history class.
Besides the life story of Rosa Parks in the textbook, the students are also required to read the passage below and some related stories that can be borrowed from the school library.
Ted Hume
The early experiences of Rosa Parks(1913-2005), long known as the “mother of the civil rights movement,” were not different from those of many African-Americans at that time. The black woman, however, turned the course of American history in December 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. “By sitting down, ” remarked John Lewis, “She was standing up for all Americans.”
Among the numerous awards Parks received in her life were the Presidential Medal of Freedom(1996) and the Congressional Gold Medal(1999).
Parks died on Oct. 24, 2005. At St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Montgomery, a large crowd including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice celebrated her life. Rice said she and others, who grew up when the political activities of Parks held public attention, might not have realized her impact on their lives, “but I can honestly say that without Mrs. Parks, I probably would not be standing here as Secretary of State.”
After her casket(灵柩) was placed at the Capitol, U.S. President Bush, members of Congress and ordinary Americans paid their respects. In American history Parks is the first woman to lie in state at the Capitol, a very high regard usually reserved for Presidents of the United States.

Here are six steps to better studying.
Pay attention in class
Do you have trouble paying attention in class? Are you sitting next to a loud person? Tell your teacher or parents about any problem that is preventing you from paying attention.
Take good notes
Write down facts that your teacher mentions or writes on the board. Try to use good handwriting so you can read your notes later. It’s a good idea to keep your notes organized by subject.
Plan ahead for tests and projects
Waiting until Thursday night to study for Friday’s test will make it hard to do your best. One of the best ways to make sure that doesn’t happen is to plan ahead. Write down your test dates. You can then plan how much to do after school each day, and how much time to spend on each topic.
Break it up
When there’s a lot to study, it can help to break things into several parts. Let’s say you have a spelling test on 20 words. Instead of thinking about all of the words at once, try breaking them down into five-word groups and work on one or two different groups each night.
Ask for help
You can’t study effectively if you don’t understand the material. Be sure to ask your teacher for help. If you’re at home when the confusion occurs, your morn or dad might be able to help.
Sleep tight
So the test is tomorrow and you’ve followed your study plan—but suddenly you can’t remember anything! Don’t panic. Your brain needs time to digest all the information you’ve given it. Try to get a good night’s sleep and you’ll be surprised by what comes back to you in the morning.
68.We know from the passage that a loud person is .
A.a student who always answers questions loudly in class
B.someone who likes to talk with others in a loud voice
C.a student who likes speaking with others in class
D.a person who makes a lot of noise in public places
69.If you don’t understand what you have learnt, you can .
A.read your notes over and over again
B.turn to people around you for help
C.put aside the material for later review
D.ask your teacher to explain it the next day
70.By saying “Sleep tight”, what does the author mean?
A.Sleep again after waking up. B.Sleep holding your breath deep.
C.Get a good night’s sleep. D.Go to sleep early every night.
Many children are afraid of _____ failing the exam.
A. to be blame for B. be to blame for C. being blame for D. being blame on

ADAPTIVE ACTION SPORTS
Adaptive Action Sports was founded in 2005 by Amy Purdy and Daniel Gale.
Amy Purdy was an active snowboarder, until she lost both her legs to bacterial meningitis(脑脊膜炎). She spent three months in the hospital fighting for her life, and doctors gave her a less than two percent chance of survival. Because of meningitis Amy lost circulation in both her legs, and when she came out of the hospital she had prosthetic legs(义肢). When she lost her legs, Amy knew she would be active again, but didn’t know how or when. She struggled to be active on her new legs, and a little over two years after her amputation(截肢) she entered the USASA (United States of America Snowboard Association) National Snowboarding Competition and won medals in three events.
Amy was at an adaptive snowboard workshop in 2002 when she met Daniel Gale. They immediately formed a connection through their enthusiasm for snowboarding, music, and art. Amy’s biggest struggle had been obtaining information on how to start snowboarding again with prosthetic legs, and she and Daniel both saw the need to help others like Amy. They “wanted to create something, a place, a forum, an organization that would enable individuals to find and participate in their enthusiasms without a struggle. Adaptive Action Sports was born.”
Their dream was to help athletes with permanent physical disabilities compete in action sports. Adaptive Action Sports holds camps, clinics, and events to create programs and opportunities for these individuals.
Since 2000, the USASA has provided opportunities for adaptive athletes to compete in snowboarding competitions. In 2007, the USASA Competition had 17 adaptive athletes compete, the largest number of adaptive athletes in adaptive athlete competition history. Although many competitors were still injured, they recovered quickly and showed how hard they are willing to push themselves.

“I can’t live without my mobile phone!” is what I often hear people say as they talk about how mobiles have become an essential part of their lives.
The so common sight of heads bent, eyes staring at mobile screens and fingers busy tapping away repeats itself across major cities around the world. Whenever there is a moment to spare while on the train, taxi or waiting in a queue, people busy themselves with their mobile phones.
Some people believe our unhealthy obsession(着迷) with mobile phones is destroying how we appreciate the little things in life or miss the moments that matter. The truth is that technology overall should be seen as just a tool to improve our lives.
Mobile phones have certainly had a g
reat influence on our lives, but I truly believe it is for the better.
It’s changed the way we communicate, whether for work or play. We are now less constrained(限制)by time and geographical location. With my mobile phone, I can dial into conference calls while stuck in a traffic jam, or reply to urgent e-mails while on the go. I can send a text message or share photos and videos with friends who aren’t living in the same country. My phone calendar keeps my life organized, and even Facebook, Twitter, and instant messaging are now accessible from mobile phones!
The mobile revolution isn’t just changing the lives of urbanities (都市人) like myself. I know of a young Bangladeshi woman named Shompa Akhter who is crazy about fashion and
design. She dreamt about starting her own business and she did just that, opening a shop in Kushtia featuring her own creations. Dealing with supplies in different towns was a problem for Shompa --- purchase orders had to either be hand delivered or mailed out to supplies. Shompa also found it tough publicizing her business to potential customers outside her town. But once she learnt to operate the mobile phone, she was addicted. The 25-year-old businesswoman now stays in touch
easily with her suppliers. Mobile e-mail is a blessing in her life.
Who would have thought that mobility could bring about such enormous change? It shouldn’t really be a surprise though.
21 In the first two paragraphs, the author wants to show ____.
A. mobile phones make people communicate less
B. mobile phones make people’s life more enjoyable
C. people’s health is greatly affected by mobile phones
D. people become addicted to mobile phones in d
aily life
22. What’s the author’s attitude towards mobile phones? .
A. Doubtful B. Supportive C. Critical D. Uninterested
23. Paragraph 5 is mainly about__________.
A. The disadvantages of mobile phones B. New changes in Information Age
C. The advantages of mobile phones D. The author’s personal experiences
24.How is the text mainly developed?
A. By inferring. B. By analysing causes.
C. By giving examples. D. By comparing different ideas.
Taking exams in a large group setting can be stressful for students and for the staff members who are watching over them.
When classrooms are crowded and desks are close together, cheating might be tempting.
One university in Thailand came up with an anti-cheating hat that makes it almost impossible for students to see other students’ papers. A photo of the students wearing the anti-cheating hats made its way to the Internet, and the university was criticized for making students wear those ridiculous looking homemade hats. The hats were made by stapling pieces of paper onto a headband, one to each side of the head.
After being criticized, senior academic staff at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, released a statement saying that the hats idea came from students. They said that in a bid to prevent cheating they asked the students for ideas on how to prevent cheating in the upcoming exam, which was being taken by almost one hundred students. Students came up with different ideas, then the paper hat idea was selected by them as the most suitable.
The university claimed that no one was forced to use the hat, but they all chose to do so. “When wearing the hat during the exam, students felt more relaxed, ” Nattadon Rungruangkitkrai, a lecturer at the university said. “It was not meant to indicate that Kasetsart students often cheat on exams. I apologize if the photo makes other people look at my students in a negative way, ” Rungruangkitkrai added.
28. According to the text, in which case cheating will become easy?
A. When desks are crowded into a classroom.
B. When too many students are sitting in a classroom.
C. When students are too stressful.
D. When the staff members who are watching over them are not responsible.
29. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs?
A. The senior academic staff at the university made the paper hat idea.
B. The students felt more stressful when wearing the hat during the exam.
C. The students don’t like wearing the hats when taking the exam.
D. The students are not forced to wear the hats when taking the exam.

C. Anti-cheating hat D. Anti-cheating hat was considered the most suitable choice
