Attending an interview with the intent to impress the hiring manager is dangerous if you go about it in the wrong way. Below are some things you can do to maximize your chances of getting the job.
61. __________
True, sometimes interviewers aren’t prepared themselves, but that doesn’t mean they’ll forgive you for the same mistake. Developing and following a plan at the beginning of a job search has a significant impact on its success. Research the job thoroughly. Think about how your previous experience qualifies you and how it compares to the work on offer. Set "process goals" to keep you on track toward your larger career goals. "Process goals" aren’t big-picture objectives. They’re "roll up your sleeves and make it happen" objectives.
62. __________
You can’t think of any personal weaknesses, you’ve overcome all your weaknesses, or you say you haven’t given it a lot of thought. Mistakes? Not you. No one progresses in a career without making mistakes and learning from them. Trained interviewers will be looking to see if you readily acknowledge and admit your weaknesses and can describe mistakes you’ve made and what you learned from them. Never give a measured response that sugarcoats reality to a tough interview question about your past.
63. __________
If you were a 6-foot, 5-inch, 250-pound Frenchman with strong arms and a bushy beard, would you apply for the part of Little Orphan Annie on Broadway? How ridiculous that image is. If you don’t have an accurate understanding of what the job is all about, your opinion of how well-matched you are will be based on an inaccurate foundation. For example, sales professionals are expected to possess excellent communication skills, time management and organization skills. Make sure you have a full job description from the employer so you can match your skills to the job’s requirements.
64. __________
The best way to ensure a good first impression is to dress smart. What is appropriate depends on the particular employer and job but, generally speaking, it is better to dress formally while remaining comfortable. If you are unsure what to wear, you should always go with the most conservative, professional option. What you are wearing tells employers a lot about how serious you are about getting the job. The more confident and polished you appear, the more likely you are to leave the interviewer with a positive impression of you.
65. __________
Learn as much as you can about how the interview will be conducted. Employers are looking for the candidate with the best knowledge and experience, but rarely do they hire for work skills at the expense of social skills. If you lack self-awareness, it shows. And it doesn’t look good. Be on time for your interview. Be aware of your body language. Even in the critical small talk before the interview, make eye contact with your interviewer to convey confidence when you’re speaking, smile when it’s appropriate, and look alert.

The Meaning of Dreams
Sleep and dreams have interested people for centuries.Scientists are learning more about sleep, but they still know very little about why we dream.
(51) First,we have most of our dreams during REM(rapid eye movement)sleep. At this time, the brain is very active.Second, everyone dreams, even if we can't remember doing so when we awaken.(52) While we are sleep,it works more slowly and sometimes puts our thoughts and memories together in strange ways.
(53) .Some believe that our dreams are associated with thoughts and feelings that we experience while we are awake. Many dream researchers think that a dream about death, for example,is really about an important life change.(54) .Dreams about a car or travel often represent feelings about your own life.Dreams about teeth﹣especially broken or loose ones﹣may indicate stress or fear.Dreams in which you are flying often represent freedom or escape.
Researchers think people in our dreams can tell us something about﹣ourselves. If the person in the dream was yelling, for example, maybe you are angry.(55) .
There is still a lot about dreaming that we do not understand.By learning more about our dreams,we may learn more about ourselves.
A.Dreams may be more important than sleep.
B.Scientists do not know for certain why we dream.
C.If he or she was scared then maybe you are afraid of something.
D.Modern research can tell us some important things about dreams.
E.There are three things you should pay attention to to have a sweet dream.
F.Finally,a part of our brain helps us to understand daily experience we have.
G.Dreams about telephones are thought to be about giving or receiving messages.

My ears are recently full of joyous remarks from my friends such as, “Oh, Beckham is so handsome, so cool, that I can’t help falling in love with him!” or “What perfect skills he has!” Yeah, I agree 16 some degree, though I sometimes do want to ask them how much they 17 Beckham, apart from his appearance and how much they know about football 18 scoring goals. It seems funny that we are crazy for things, with which we are unfamiliar or 19 we are uncertain, but we all, my friends 20 I, consider this 21 .
We need these pleasures to brighten up our lives. But that doesn’t amount to craziness 22 nonsense. As an old saying 23 :“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” We should not 24 anything from its appearance. We should all know, it is one’s good character and great contribution that 25 one a star and unforgettable. Therefore we’d better say 26 about Beckham’s good looks.
If we close our eyes, 27 in deep thought, we can find that the things 28 us to be in truth happy, sad or moved 29 a clear meaning. If we don’t go deeper and just satisfied with superficial things, 30 we will find that we have not really gained anything 31 our first impression has blinded and misled us, and we’ll remain ignorant 32 we realize that and make some changes.
It is believed that thinking and going deeper than before is sign of great 33 .If one day we are willing to go deeper into everything, no matter how much it 34 us, we will finally prove how much we have grown up, how much more sensible, mature, and intelligent we have 35 .

Why does most of the world travel on the right side today? Theories differ, but there's no doubt Napoleon was a major influence. The French have used the right since at least the late 18th century. Some say that before the French Revolution, noblemen drove their carriages on the left, forcing the peasants to the right. Regardless of the origin, Napoleon brought right-hand traffic to the nations he conquered, including Russia, Switzerland and Germany. Hitler, in turn, ordered right-hand traffic in Czechoslovakia and Austria in the 1930s. Nations that escaped right-hand control, like Great Britain, followed their left-hand tradition.
The U.S. has not always been a nation of right-hand drivers; earlier in its history, carriage and horse traffic travelled on the left, as it did in England. But by the late 1700s, people driving large wagons pulled by several pairs of horses began promoting a shift (改变) to the right. A driver would sit on the rear (后面的) left horse in order to wave his whip (鞭子) with his right hand; to see opposite traffic clearly, they travelled on the right.
One of the final moves to firmly standardize traffic directions in the U.S. occurred in the 20th century, when Henry Ford decided to mass-produce his cars with controls on the left ( the reason was stated in a 1908 catalog: the convenience for passengers exiting directly onto the edge, especially if there is a lady to be considered).Once these rules were set, many countries eventually adjusted to the right-hand standard, including Canada in the 1920s, Sweden in 1967 and Burma in 1970.The U.K. and former colonies such as Australia and India are among the Western world's few remaining holdouts(坚持不变者).Several Asian nations, including Japan, use the left as well—though many places use both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive cars.
9.Why did people in Switzerland travel on the right?

BEIJING, China(CNN)—Chinese workers and army soldiers were racing to sweep snow-covered highways and railway routes for millions of travelers trapped by cold weather.
More than 67 million people have been affected by the weather and economic losses are expected to reach as much as $3 billion, Chinese officials say.
In the past week, the snowstorms have hit the provinces in central, eastern and southern China—places that used to have mild winters.
“We’ve never seen such a cold weather lasting for such a long time,” said Tang Shan, a man in his 70s Changsha, Hunan Province. “The last time we had one here was over 50 years ago, and not this bad.”
The snow has blocked roads, railways and airports, leaving tens of millions of travelers stranded(滞留),officials say. Many of them are going home ahead of the traditional Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.
The Lunar New Year travel is China’s busiest travel period of the year. But the snow is changing travel plans. Railway and highway routes have been brought to a pause, a situation in which all activity or movement has stopped and several regional airports have been closed.
In the southern city of Guangzhou, as many as 500,000 train passengers were stranded in the past few days when a power failure in neighboring Hunan seriously damaged the regular train services, local officials said. About 100,000 passengers crowded the square in front of the train station, while others found shelter in schools and other public buildings while waiting for their trains.
More terrible weather is expected. China’s weather office on Monday issued a warning of more severe(恶劣的) snowstorms in the coming days. If so, the number of stranded travelers will surely increase.

In many countries, 56 is not unusual for families of different backgrounds to live together in the shared space. 57 , in the United States, this idea may still be considered odd.
But this type of housing, 58 (call) co-housing, is gaining 59 (popular) in the United States, too.
Co-housing complexes are popping up across the country. For many people, this way of life is a relief to the busy modem lifestyle. A co-housing community has 60 (private) owned houses and shared land. There is often a “common house” with a kitchen and dining room, meeting room, and maybe a workshop of library or music room. About 25 co-housing communities 61 (build) in recent years, and 150 more are planned.
A co-housing complex is a place 62 residents shop, cook, and eat together. Residents of a co-housing complex like its sense of shared community. Children have other kids to play 63 , 64 many
families like. Other residents like the feeling of living in a “village”. Residents also say that they can live in co-housing for 65 (little) money than they would pay for nearby apartments.
Next time you hear a funny joke you’d better not laugh too hard. According to a paper published by the British Medical Journal, laughter isn’t always the best medicine. Sometimes it can even be harmful. Professor Robin Ferner from the University of Birmingham, one of the authors of the study, found that bad things could happen to people who laughed too much. He says: “We found people with heartbeat problems which had stopped their heart, we found people who had fainted(昏倒), and we found people who’d dislocated their jaws or burst their lungs.”
It seems that laughing can be no laughing matter. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Professor Ferner says there are benefits to laughing when you want to lose weight, for example. Yes, that’s right: laugh and be slimmer! Professor Ferner explains that: “You use energy when you laugh, you move your diaphragm(横膈膜), you expand your lungs, and both those things can be helpful.”
According to the research, laughing for a quarter of an hour can burn up to 40 calories, and if you laughed all day you’d use up about 2,000 calories, which is what most people consume in a day. But don’t do that or you might end up with a painful jaw. Ouch! Or you might find people looking at you in a funny way.
But I don’t want to finish this article leaving you feeling desperate. Laughter comes naturally for most of us. Babies begin to laugh at around 3-6 months. So give in to your sense of humour and keep smiling. Life is short anyway.
28. Laughing too much may cause the following harmful results EXCEPT_________.

A. About 40. B. About 1,000. C. About 2,000. D. About 2,040.
31. What is the author’s attitude towards laughing
in the last paragraph?
A. Uninterested. B. Disapproving. C. Worried. D. Favorable.

There are a lot of famous women of 61 (achieve)in the world. They all do 62 ( good ) in their work, such as Lin Qiaozhi, Jane Goodall and Song Qingling. There is no doubt 63 they are real heroines and worthy of 64 ( praise). But in my opinion, all healthy humans have the ability to do that. It just depends on whether you have the determination to do it and 65 the situation is in your favor. But never before have I admired a person so much 66 Helen Keller, who I just read about. She was an unlucky girl, 67 could neither hear 68 see. I just can’t imagine how she could be so successful. I really don’t believe that a deaf-blind lady could become such 69 important writer in the world. If I 70 ( be ) her, I wouldn’t have the courage to live on. It is by her courage and imagination and intelligence that I was struck.
One day, Nick invited his friends to supper. He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen. Suddenly, he 61 (find) that he had run out of salt. So Nick called to his son, “Go to the village and buy some salt, 62 pay a fair price for it: neither too much nor too little.”
His son looked surprised. “I can understand why I shouldn't pay too much, Father, but if I can pay less, 63 not save a bit of money?”
“That would be a very 64 (reason) thing to do in a big city, but it could destroy 65 small village like ours,” Nick said.
Nick’s guests, 66 had heard their conversation, asked why they should not buy salt 67 (cheap) if they could. Nick replied, “The only reason why a man would sell salt at a lower price would be that he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage of that situation would be showing a lack of respect 68 the sweat and struggle of the man who worked very hard to produce it.”
“But such a small thing couldn't 69 (possible) destroy a village.”
“In the beginning, there was only a very small amount of unfairness in the world, but everyone added a little, always 70 (think) that it was only small and not very important, and look where we have ended up today.”
I feel very lucky, because what I’ve accomplished in sports is my wildest dreams.
