Although most games have winners and losers, the goal of sports is not to win every game. The real goals include getting exercise, having fun, and learning important social skills, like sportsmanship.

Good sportsmanship is all about respect. Good sports (具有运动家品格的人) respect the other players on their team. They respect the players on opposing teams. They respect coaches, and they also respect the referees or other officials involved in their games. They shout at their teammates and they talk back to coaches or referees.

Kids usually learn sportsmanship ─ good and bad ─ from the adults in their lives. If parents and coaches show disrespect to other fans, referees, or each other, kids will likely act the same way on the field.

Some of them are very basic and easy to do, like shaking hands with other players before a game. Other examples may take a little more courage, such as acknowledging a great play made by the opposing team.

Learning good sportsmanship is important because it helps you develop an attitude of graciousness (礼貌) and respect that will carry over into all the other areas of your life!  Being a good sport in the classroom will eventually lead to being a good sport in the workplace.

So be a good sport in whatever you do!  When others see you acting in a way that makes it clear that winning isn't the most important thing, you can move on to focusing on the important things, like having fun, getting exercise, and improving your skills.

A. Good sportsmanship can be shown in many ways.

B. On the contrary, bad sportsmanship is all about disrespect.

C. The example you set can be a powerful teaching tool for others.

D. Players 'parents and coaches set examples that kids tend to follow.

E. We can be good sports by encouraging others but not laughing at them.

F. Starting as a good sport earlier will help you be a good sport as you get old.

G. If you're a good sport on the field, you'll also likely be a good sport in the classroom.

Many people find it hard to lose weight and have to go starvation. Now, I’d like to offer some tricks to help lose weight.

Put out a large vegetable plate. Eating water-rich foods such as tomatoes during meals reduces calorie consumption. Other water-rich foods include soups and salads. Because the body processes hunger and thirst through different systems, it simply doesn’t register a sense of fullness with water (or tea, coffee or juice).

Downsize your dinner plates. The less food put in front of you, the less food you’ll eat. So instead of using standard dinner plates, serve your main course on salad plates.Instead of large glasses and coffee mugs, return to the old days of cups and even smaller coffee cups.

Serve your dinner restaurant-style (with food already on the plates) rather than family-style (where the food is served in bowls on the table). There's no reaching for seconds.

You’re more likely to eat more—and eat more high-fat, high calorie foods—when you eat out than when you eat at home.

Eat slowly and calmly. Vary your eating with stories of the interesting things that happened during your day. Your brain is behind your stomach by about 20 minutes when it comes to fullness signals. If you eat slowly enough, your brain will catch up and tell you that you no longer need food. Serving separate courses will also slow you down

A. The same goes for liquids.

B. Eat 90 percent of your meals at home.

C. When your plate is empty, you’re finished.

D. Put your fork or spoon down between every bite.

E. Be sure to choose a high-fiber, low-sugar variety of food.

F. You won’t get the same benefits by just drinking water, though

G. You should eat equal amounts of vegetables and grains at dinner.

We were high in the mountains of Xishuangbanna, as far south as you can get in Yunnan, skirting the borders of Myanmar and Laos. The drive was typical, textbook beauty: mountains thick with rubber tree forests, pu'er tea plantations and banana palms and tiny Dai villages. Hidden among the fields of green, I spotted an odd collection of wooden boxes near a tent on the side of the road

We had run into the current home of Wei Dajing, a 17-year-old apprentice (学徒) beekeeper who was manning his hives. Wei was fresh to the beekeeping life, and had been on the job for just two months and was here to learn from a master beekeeper. Their tent and hive set-up is always temporaryThis particular spot was stationed at a sunny patch of yellow flowers. Once these flowers die, the rubber trees will be flowering, so we will move toward them,” he told Sam.

Like thieves in the night, the beekeepers will stealthily pack up their hives in the dark once the bees go to sleep. “They are most active around midday when they are collecting their nectar (花蜜)Wei explained.

The hives were humming, and bees were invasively buzzing around Wei as he spoke to us. Pieces of fruit lay drying among the hives, used to feed the bees and give them an extra boost of energy once Wei bottles up their hard-earned honey. Sam, who also has a couple of his own small hives in his backyard, tells us you must always leave a little bit of honey in the hive

We waved goodbye to Wei. Back at Sam's house, he gave us a bowlful of local honeyLacking the usual sweetness of honey but instead rich with a more savory, spiced flavor, it tasted just like China.

A. It was smooth, thin and runny.

B. Wei skillfully collected honey from the hives.

C. Otherwise the bees get fed up and abandon you.

D. Maybe it is the flowers that give such unique taste to the honey.

E. By 10 pm they are asleep in their hives, which is when we move.

The color of animals is by no means a matter of chance; it depends on many considerations, but in the majority of cases tends to protect the animals from danger by making it less outstanding Perhaps, it may be said that if coloring is mainly protective, there ought to be fewer brightly colored animals. . The kingfisher itself, though so brightly colored, is not easy to see.

. Thus, for instance, the lion, and the wild donkey are all sand—colored. “Indeed, in the desert, neither trees, brushwood, nor even undulation (起伏) of the surface afford the slightest protection to its enemies..” says an expert.

The next point is the color of the mature caterpillars(毛虫), some of which are brown. This probably makes the caterpillar even more outstanding among the green leaves. What would you do if you were a big caterpillar? Why, like most other defenceless creatures, you would feed by night, and lie hidden by day. . When the morning light comes, they go down the stem of the food plant, and hide among dry sticks and leaves around the ground, and it is obvious that under such circumstances the brown color really becomes a protection. While we may say as a general rule that the large caterpillars feed by night and hide by day, it is by no means always the case that they are brown: some of them still remain green., and that the brown color is a later adaptation.

A. So do these caterpillars

B. Therefore, the color of the animals is bright

C. We can say that they formed a good habit

D. Desert animals are generally the color of the desert

E. We may conclude that the habit of hiding themselves by day comes first

F. However, there are some cases where vivid colors are themselves protective

G. So the color of birds, snakes and even smaller animals, is of one uniform sand color

While plenty of birds-such as swallows hawks and hummingbirds-migrate (迁徙) during the day, the majority of land birds travel at night.

Migration at night has at least three advantages. Secondly the air in the atmosphere is usually more stable than during the day. Lastly the air is cooler at night. A migrating bird produces a huge amount of heat that needs to be released. Most of the heat is lost from the unfeathered legs.

Nighttime migrators include sparrows, warblers, flycatchers, thrushes, orioles and cuckoos. Most of them don't live in vast open places. They aren't the best fliers, so they need the thick coverage to avoid enemies.

But flying at night is becoming more dangerous than it used to be. A well-lit high- rise can kill hundreds of migrating birds in a single night, an issue that has started to attract more public concern. In cities like New York, Chicago and Houston, some skyscrapers and other landmarks now have "lights out" programs during key bird migration times in the fall and spring.

A protein called cryptochrome, which is sensitive to blue light 9 is thought to be the key to making this happen. Cryptochromes from migratory birds have evolved to require less light and to allow their recognition of blue light to sense and respond to magnetic fields (磁场).

A. Instead, they live in the woods and other sheltered habitats.

B. Birds need the heat to keep warm and maintain a good state.

C. Birds do not have to worry about attacks from dangerous birds.

D. Only when there is enough light can they get signals to migrate.

E. Migrating birds use Earth's magnetic field to help them navigate.

F. Lights on buildings and towers confuse birds, causing them to crash.

G. The colder the air temperature is, the more quickly that heat can be released.

Bournemouth University in the UK recently carried out research trying to find out recognizers have a different way to process feces. They have found that when these people look a faces, they spend more time looking at the person's nose. Their super ability is limited only to face recognition.

Some super recognizers never forget faces. But for some, if you present pairs of feces to them at the same time, they can quickly decide whether the faces are of the same person or two different people.

In fact, many super recognizers say they are very good at "spotting" (发现) faces in a crowd. These subtypes of super recognition could be applied to many areas. Super recognizers could help match faces in CCTV footage (闭路电视镜头). They could also help police spot known troublemakers, bad people or even missing people in crowds.

Plogging

Plogging is a new way to jog while cleaning up the planet. It's a craze that began in Sweden in 2016 and the motivation behind it includes reducing the load of plastic litter in our environment, as well as keeping fit while running. If you love outdoor exercise, enjoy exercising with others, and care about removing litter from our environment, then this might just be the sport for you.

Make good preparations before plogging. Dress suitably for the environment in which you are running. This will vary depending on the weather and surroundings, but the basics are comfortable running clothes and closed-toe running shoes. Suitable gloves are a wise and useful addition, as picking up litter can be dangerous in some situations. This might be a standard trash bag, easy to carry and capable of containing litter that might have sharp edges.

Organize your plogging group. If you're lucky enough to have ploggers already in your area, seek them out. Join up and make new friends with a shared interest. Check out such meeting groups at Meetup or ask at a local sports store to find out what opportunities exist where you live. If you don't have a group, create one. Use social media, notices on bulletin boards, or place signs in the windows of sports stores to find fellow ploggers.

Collect safely. One key suggestion for staying safe while collecting litter is to avoid picking up broken glass or sharp items. If you must collect such an item, only do so when you can find a very safe way to collect it without harming yourself. If in doubt, leave it and get better equipment to remove it. If an item of litter presents a potential safety risk, try to mark the item clearly to encourage people to avoid it.

It is a way of combining individual achievement via exercise with community and environmental care. You're part of the growing movement of people who are giving back to the world at the same time as honoring self care, a sustainable and healthy way to balance your life. This could be a fantastic opportunity to show people that individual action makes a big difference.

A. Taking some photos during the process is also necessary.

B. You can also ask for assistance from the local authorities.

C. Usually performed as part of a group run, it's also a social exercise.

D. You also need to find a suitable carry bag for collecting the litter in.

E. Plogging is a great way to feel motivated as it has more than one benefit.

F. If you find a natural area with litter problem, this might be a suitable place.

G. With some advertising effort, you are likely to connect with a few interested people.

Choosing the right career can be hard. Many people graduate from school or college not knowing what to do with their lives, and get a job without really thinking about it. For some, things work out fine. Your working life lasts an average of forty years, so it's important to find a job you like and feel enthusiastic about. Luckily, there are many ways you can get help to do this.

The Australian website, www.careersonline.com, compares choosing a career with going to the movies. Before you see a movie, you find out what films are showing. — find out what jobs are available and what your options are. Next, decide which movie you like best; if you're not a romantic person, you won't want to see a love story. In other words, with your career, you should decide which job will suit your personality. Meanwhile, you should find out where the theater is before you go. With your career, you need to find information about where you can work, how much you will earn, and how to get a job in that profession.

Your physical state and build can also affect which jobs you can do. A person, for example, who is allergic to cats would probably never become a veterinarian. Flight attendants, firefighters, and police officers have to be over a certain height, and be physically fit. Are you outgoing and extroverted, or shy and introverted? If you like working alone, a job that requires lots of teamwork might not suit you.

How to Avoid Leg Pain when running

While Running is fantastic exercise, it's also a relatively high-impact activity. Pounding on the pavement can cause Leg Pain.

Spend longer warming up. If you commonly have leg pain when running, your muscles may not be sufficiently warm. Then include dynamic stretching in your warmup routine after a brief walk. These types of stretching can better loosen your leg muscles and prepare them for a run, which may help you avoid leg pain.

Evaluate your form. Get a coach or experienced runner to observe you running and give you tips on what might be causing your leg pain. For example, if you're leaning too far forward when you run, you can pull too hard on your calves(小腿肚). This can result in the pain of the lower legs.

If you're getting cramps (抽筋) or other leg pain while running, it may be because you need to build up your cardiovascular (心血管) fitness more gradually. Start by walking or jogging at a slower pace, and slowly work up to faster speeds.

Use relaxation techniques while running. Deep breathing and other relaxation techniques give you better mental focus. which can keep you from developing leg pain. You can find recordings online or on your favorite music app. These recordings can help you focus on your breath and reach a more relaxed state as you run.

A. Slow your pace

B. Shorten your step.

C. Here are some skills to avoid leg pain.

Young Lata attended an English school in Mumbai. She first picked up a brush as a child, learning the basics of art from her older sister Mai. She recalls performing a song along with a famous singer at a function and having her paintings displayed at a school exhibition.

However, her happy days didn't last long. She dropped out of college to help support the family by selling paintings and hand-painted sarees (莎丽服). After getting married, she moved with her husband to their home in Bandra East, where they have been living for nearly six decades.

Four years ago, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's which has affected her short-term memory. It was her son Paresh who helped her pick up her passion for painting again. He got her painting supplies and books on animals and plants. Now, she can spend hours painting the most detailed images. And for those hours, she is at peace and is focused. She is also most comfortable while doing some housework. She knows where everything in her kitchen is and still refuses to keep help at home.

From encouraging her art to answering all her questions when she forgets things from minute to minute, he did everything patiently. For Lata, everything is new every day and it's her painting that keeps her going. Talent has no age!
