One day a dentist (牙医) was starting his morning work. (sudden) a man ran in. His face was red, he could only say “Quick! Quick!” The dentist thought he must be very (illness). His assistant (助手) helped to make the poor man sit in the chair. The dentist (give) the man some medicine (make) the man sleep. Then, he looked into the (man) mouth and pulled out all the bad (tooth). As soon the man woke up，he said in a low voice, “Quick, doctor, quick!”
“It's all right now”, dentist told him, “It is over.”
“You don't understand.” said the man. “I came to tell you that house is on fire."
Trees are useful to man in three very important ways. They provide him with wood and other products, they give him shade, and they help him prevent droughts floods.
Unluckily, in many parts of the world, man has not realized that the (three) of these services is the most important. In order to make money (quick) from the trees, he has cut them down in large numbers. Two thousand years ago, a rich and powerful country cut down thousands of trees (build) warships. It built up a strong empire (帝国). But without the trees, (it) soil became poorer and poorer. When the empire fell to pieces, the country (find) itself facing with floods and hunger.
Even though a government realizes the (important) of trees, it is difficult to make the people realize this. They cut down trees but are too lazy to plant and look after new trees. So, unless the government has good system of control, or the people are educated, the forests may slowly disappear.
This does not only mean that there will be fewer trees. The results are even (serious). If there are tree roots which break the soil up and allow the rain to sink in, the soil can be bound (受约束的).
This prevents the soil being washed away. But if there are no trees, the soil will become hard and poor. This causes floods. And the rain carries away the rich topsoil (表层土) in which crops grow. When all the topsoil is gone, nothing remains but useless sand.
An illusion(错觉) is something that fools the senses or the mind. An illusion may make you think something exists(存在) when it really (do) not. It may be something that appears to be one thing, but is really something else. David Copperfield calls (he) an illusionist. He is someone who makes or creates illusions.
Many people have an interest in magic, but (many) of them are not performing and getting paid for it by age 12. Nor are they teaching college classes in magic at age 16. Copperfield was the (young) person ever to be allowed to join the Society of American Magicians. When he got to college himself, Copperfield got the leading part in a play called The Magic Man. Besides acting and singing, he created all the magic in the show. The show ran for longer any other musical in Chicago's history.
Copperfield is a huge (succeed) as an illusionist, but he has other projects as well. He says that his best work is Project Magic. Copperfield developed a number of tricks(戏法) done with the hands. These tricks help hospital patients who need (improve) their physical condition. Learning to do the tricks also builds confidence(信心). Patients in the program can speak (proud) that they can do tricks that healthy people can't do.
Like many magicians, Copperfield is interested the history of magic. He has created a museum and library in which books, articles, and old magic equipment(设备) (keep) and shown. By keeping track of history, Copperfield hopes to save magic for the future.

Jacob is cool teacher. He often plays sports with boys and girls. He gives one P. E. class every day, but the students want (have) two classes every day.

Mr. Green likes (read) books. He knows a lot of things. The students love his classes on Tuesdays Wednesdays. "It is relaxing for me to have his class. I want to be a teacher like (he)." one boy says.
