    11-year-old Jerome is good1running. He usually wins all of the races at Serpentine Primary School in Australia. However, after giving up2 a recent school race, the boy has won hearts of3 people. In the race, the kind boy ran back to walk with his good friend Seth and let him4the finishing line first.

    10-year-old Seth was born with cerebral palsy (脑瘫). Since he moved to the school last year, he5a lot of problems at school. Luckily, Jerome6to help him by the teachers with things like going to the toilet and showing him around. The two boys soon became good friends

Seth's father can't thank Jerome enough for looking after his son. "He is9 good kid." The two boys' story has spread quickly after Jerome's mother Susan shared it on social media. "These boys are champions10they didn't win," said the proud mother.

    Each year, a huge number of Chincse middle school students go to study in foreign countries such as the US, the UK, Australia and Japan.

    Chinese children hope very much to go1to get a wider view of the world." said Chen Yi, a Chinese writer who has lived in America for 16 years. In a talk Chen told more than 300 parents and their children that life in foreign countries can be2for young people. They have to deal with a cultural shock and language 3.

    However, these are not the most difficult things.To most children looking after themselves when studying alone in a foreign country is a big4.

    Zhang Jia,a l6-year-old student,began to study in a high school in Sydney,Australia last October.To his amazement,his teachers there5pushed students to study. And usually there wasn't homework."With the education in Sydney, we have more 6time and more space for thinking." said Zhang.  But if you don't know how to7your time and money to good use, you will not have an easy time. Some of his friends spent their whole year's money in the first two months of the term, and they8 their exams.

    "Studying abroad at a young age can help students learn a foreign language9and open up their eyes, but students and parents should know about the challenges," Chen said." If you want to study abroad,try to talk to someone with10 in foreign countries. Make sure that you are ready for it."

    I remember my mother reading to me when I was a small child. I remember watching as she showed me the words she read.” Can you say that?” she asked.

    “A for apple," Mom said many times. I listened carefully, then pointed at the letter and repeated it. Time and again my mother listened to me as I sounded out letters and simple words. By the time I reached kindergarten I could read simple sentences. A year or so later I remember running home and telling her I was in the “Red Birds”, the top group in my second grade class.

    During my high school years I remember using a Reader's Digest magazine to challenge my mother to Word Power competition. We read the words given by Reader's Digest and wrote a definition( 定义)for each word. We checked our answers and compared our scores. My beginning junior years Mom won most the challenges, but my senior year I began to beat my mom most of the time. “It's about time." She said.

    I remember Mom giving me a lifetime love of reading. Whenever I read a good book I appreciate (感激)this gift given me by my mother.

    Last year, Webster and her family gave away 30 pairs of shoes, Webster, 13, is a seventh- grader at Calvary Christian school in the US.

    I never really thought that there were people that don't wear shoes and don't get to have them,” said Webster. Last year, Webster and her classmates and staff at the school and Calvary Church donated more than 1,000 of shoes.

    This year, the school and church are still holding the activity. They collect new or lightly used shoes to Soles4Souls. It is a global nonprofit organization that gives shoes and clothing to people in need for free.

    Head of the school Troy saw Sole4Souls as a good way to develop the charitable(慈善的) giving. ”It's amazing how easy it is to give away what we have in our closet already. And it doesn't hurt too much,” he said. ”it's just growing generosity(慷慨) in our students. It's helping them to think beyond themselves.”

    The goal this year is to collect 1,500 pairs of shoes, Troy said. A group of students including Webster is heading up the thing. They create posters to put up around their school yard and spread the word to church members and their neighbors.

    Taking part in Soles4 Souls has also changed the way Bella, 12, thinks of shoes. Last year, she gave five pairs –including some she wanted to keep. Now she is looking forward to doing it.

One woman who took a ride in one of Google's cars said,”It was really kind of a space-age experience.”

    Self-driving cars could make the world a better place by reducing the number of cars people need and the amount of fuel those cars use. It could communicate with other self-driving cars to avoid traffic- cars waste a lot of fuel in traffic jams.

    The Nobel Prize are named after Alfred Nobel(1833-1896),a Swedish inventor and businessman During his lifetime, Alfred Nobel contributed to more than 350 inventions and setup 87 companies around the world. When he died, he left the largest part of this fortune, a total of 9 million, to be used to found the Nobel Prize. Now  the prizes are given to the people in six areas: peace, literature(文学)， physics, chemistry, medicine and economy.

    Winners can be individuals(个人) or organizations, the Red Cross, for example has won three times. Prizes are sometimes shared between up to three people. Prize winners receive a medal, a certificate(证书) and 10 million Swedish crowns. Generally those who win a Nobel Prize value the honor more than the money they receive.

    The youngest person ever to win a Nobel Prize was just 25 years old. He was Lawrence Bragg, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1915 together with his father. The oldest winner is Leonid. He won the Prize in Economic Sciences in 2007 when he was 90 years old.

    So far, more than ten Chinese people have won this great prize. The most recent ones are Mo Yan and Tu Youyou.
