How Learning Habits Influence On Learning Results. Its useful and necessary to discuss learning habits. There is a famous saying Good habits lead to good endings.,    1    shows the importance of habits.

An apple a day keeps doctor away .also shows how a healthy everyday habit helps to build up our body.     2    , good learning habits can help us gain great learning results    3    (include) high scores and abundant knowledge. At first, learning habits form our ways of thinking and attitudes     4   the content of our learning. Obviously, a good habit can help us to speed up to reach our destinations.    5    we can see, cultivating a good habit is so important      6     I would like to introduce one kind of good learning habits -- keep a learning diary every day. We can start the habit by    7    (write) learning summary and remember to record something impressive and     8    (mean). Keep it in mind, and gradually we can gain this good learning habit and benefit from it.

I believe that through my efforts, I can gain good learning results by having good habits.

When the Internet hits an industry, the result is usually pretty dramatic.

Newcomers with revolutionary business models blow away the old established players. Think what happened to Kodak when photography went digital, and what happened to high street book shops when Amazon got going.

Now it is the turn of higher education. Right now this change is focused on the Mooc—shorthand for massive open online courses. Essentially these are packaged-up pieces of learning that last a few weeks, are often put together by a top professor at a top university, and are available to anyone with a computer. Enrolment(登记)is unlimited, there are no entry requirements, and they are completely free.

Mooc providers will tell you proudly that their product is not an alternative to going to university, it’s an alternative to not going to university. One of the big players in the Mooc world is Coursera, set up by Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, two computer science professors at Stanford University in the United States.

About two years ago Prof. Ng decided to put lectures from his Machine Learning course online, with surprising results: “I put one of courses online and it reached an audience of 100,000 students,” he says. “To put that number into context, I used to teach 400 students a year at Stanford, which means to reach a comparable sized audience I would have had to teach at Stanford for 250 years.”

“I think Moocs have a huge potential. The technology that allows one professor to teach not just one student, but 100,000 really changes the economics of higher education,” Prof. Ng says. “Once you have created the course content it costs almost nothing to sigh up another student. What that means is we can afford to connect everyone in he world to a great education.”

Today our life and work rarely feel light or pleasant. Instead, the whole experience of being alive begins to melt into one enormous obligation(责任).36

We say this to one another with great pride. 37 We are unavailable to our friends and family, unable to find time for the sunset, to finish off our obligations without time for a single mindful breath. This seems to have become the model of a successful life.

Because we do not rest, we lose our way. We lose the relaxation that gives us help.38 Poisoned by the belief that good things come only through tireless effort, we never truly rest. This is not the world we dreamed of when we were young. But how did we get so terribly rushed in a world filled with work and responsibility, yet it lacks joy and delight?

39Sunday is the time to enjoy and celebrate what is beautiful and good, time to sing songs, give thanks, and walk. It is time to be refreshed as we stop our work, our chores and our important projects.

Sunday is more than the absence of work. Many of us, in our desperate drive to be successful and care for our many responsibilities, feel terrible guilty when we take time to rest. 40 Many of us still recall when, not long ago, shops and offices were closed on Sundays. Those quiet Sunday afternoons are deep in our cultural memory.

A. We also miss the quiet that gives us wisdom.

B. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.

C. It becomes the standard greeting everywhere, I am so busy.

D. We work through day and night, feeling rather exhausted.

E. But the Sunday has proven its wisdom over the ages.

F. The reason is simple: we have forgotten the Sunday.

G. The busier we are, the more important we seem to ourselves and, we imagine, to others.

Is beauty something always positive? Almost everyone thinks attractive people are happier and healthier, have better marriages and have more respectable jobs. Personal advisors give them better advice for finding jobs. Even judges are softer on attractive defendants. But in the executive(主管的) circle, beauty can become a disadvantage.

While attractiveness is a positive factor for a man on his way up the executive ladder, it is harmful to a woman. Handsome male executives were considered having more honesty than plainer men; effort and ability were thought to lead to their success. Attractive female executives were considered to have less honesty than unattractive ones; their success was connected not with ability but with factors such as luck.

All unattractive women executives were thought to have more honesty and to be more capable than the attractive female executives. Why are attractive women not thought to be able? An attractive woman has an advantage in traditionally female jobs, but an attractive woman in a traditionally manly position appears to lack the manly qualities required.

This is true even in politics, “When the only clue is how he or she looks, people treat men and women differently, ” says Anne Bowman, who recently published a study on the effects of attractiveness on political candidates(候选人). She asked 125 college students to rank two groups of photographs, one of men and one of women, in order of attractiveness. The students were told the photographs were of candidates for political offices. They were asked to rank them again, in the order they would vote for them.

The results showed that attractive males completely defeated unattractive men, but the women who had ranked most attractive unchangeably received the fewest votes.

32. In traditionally female jobs, attractiveness ________.

A. makes women look more honest and capable               B. strengthens the manly qualities required

C. often enables women to succeed quickly          D. is of no importance to women

33. Bowman’s experiment shows that when it comes to politics, attractiveness _____.

A. turns out to be a disadvantage to men             B. has as little effect on men as on women

C. affects men and women alike                           D. is more of a disadvantage than an advantage to women

34. According to the passage, people’s views on beauty are often _____.

A. practical               B. one – sided          C. old fashioned         D. supportive

35. The passage is mainly about _____.

A. the advantages of being attractive                   B. the disadvantages of being attractive

C. equal rights for women                              D. the importance of appearance

She got up early to be ready for the post. From the second floor flat she could see the postman when he came down the street, and the little boy from ground floor brought up her letters on the rare occasions when anything came.

Today she was sure there would be something. Myra wouldn’t forget her mother’s birthday, even if she seldom wrote at other times. Of course Myra was busy. The old lady was proud of Myra. Her husband had been made Mayor, and Myra herself had got a medal for her work.

The old lady was eighty today. She had put on her best dress. Perhapsperhaps Myra might come. After all, eighty was a special birthday.

Even if Myra did not come, she would send a present. The old lady was sure of that. Two spots of colour brightened her cheeks. She was excitedlike a child. She would enjoy her day.

Yesterday Mrs. Morrison had given the flat an extra clean, and today she had brought a card and a bunch of flowers when she came to do the breakfast. Mrs. Grant downstairs had made a cake, and in the afternoon she was going down there to tea. The little boy, Johnnie, had been up with a packet of mints, and said he wouldn’t go out to play until the post had come. “I guess you’ll get lots of presents.” he said.

What would she like? A pair of slippers perhaps. Or a new coat. A coat would be lovely. Blue’s such a pretty colour. Jim had always liked he in blue. Or a table lamp. Or a book, a travel book, with pictures, or a little clock, with clear black numbers. So many lovely things.
