Many times we do something positive or say something kind, but we don't see the influence it has on other people. We may1these “random(随意的)acts of kindness”, but we never know what happens next. One time, I was lucky enough to2.
I was returning from a trip3I stopped to refuel and get snack at a gas station. It was late. I was4, and home was still more than two hours away. I was feeling5, and my back hurt from all the6.
I went7. The checker smiled at me, and we8for a moment. I don't remember9what she said, but I do remember the10she showed me. I was11by her kindness. It kept me going on my journey home.
The next week, I was cleaning my purse, and I12the receipt. The receipt(收据) reminded me of the clerk's13, and it had the address of the store. I decided to14a thank-you note to her manager. In the letter I told the manager that his employee's kind words and caring attitude stood out to me,15my trip home.
A week16, that clerk wrote me back. As a result of my note, she got a(n)17from her manager and a company award. I was18. Robin's kindness inspired me to return her positivity.
Mother Teresa19us to “do small things with great love”. Oftentimes, when we do such small things, we don't get to see the effects of our kind words or deeds,20every so often, we're blessed to discover the positive outcome.
Three Boys and a Dad
Brad closed the door slowly as Sue left home to visit her mother. Expecting a whole day to relax, he was thinking whether to read the newspaper or watch his favorite TV talk show on his first day off in months. "This will be like a walk in the park," he'd told his wife. "I'll look after the kids, and you can go and visit your mom. "
Things started well, but just after eight o'clock, his three little "good kids"—Mike, Randy, and Alex—came down the stairs in their night clothes and shouted "breakfast, daddy." When food had not appeared within thirty seconds, Randy began using his spoon on Alex's head as if it were a drum. Alex started to shout loudly in time to the beat(节拍). Mike chanted "Where's my toast, where's my toast" in the background. Brad realized his newspaper would have to wait for a few seconds.
Life became worse after breakfast. Mike wore Randy's underwear on his head. Randy locked himself in the bathroom, while Alex shouted again because he was going to wash his pants. Nobody could find clean socks, although they were before their eyes. Someone named "Not Me" had spilled a whole glass of orange juice into the basket of clean clothes. Brad knew the talk show had already started.
By ten o'clock, things were out of control. Alex was wondering why the fish in the jar refused his bread and butter. Mike was trying to show off his talent by decorating the kitchen wall with his colour pencils. Randy, thankfully, appeared to be reading quietly in the family room, but closer examination showed that he was eating apple jam straight from the bottle with his hands. Brad realised that the talk show was over and reading would be impossible.
At exactly 11:17, Brad called the daycare centre. "I suddenly have to go into work and my wife's away. Can I bring the boys over in a few minutes?" The answer was obviously "yes" because Brad was smiling.

“Is there anything else you need, honey?” my dad asked me as he put three twentydollar bills in my hand. I was traveling back home from a family visit, and after treating me to breakfast and filling my car with gas, it was obvious that my dad wanted to make sure that I would be okay on the road.
“No, Dad. You've done so much already. Thank you!” I was overwhelmed once again by his kind acts of providing everything I needed, despite the fact I just turned 40. Yet I realize that in my father's eyes, I will always be his little girl. He takes deep pleasure in knowing his children are all right. Now that he has enough money, he loves to give whenever he sees a need.
But this was not always the case. Divorced from my mother when I was 11, my dad couldn't be around his kids as often as he would have liked. Money was also tight; even weekend visits were rare. However, my dad stayed in constant communication with us and made sure he was involved in our lives. Though he couldn't always be there in person, I knew he was only a phone call away. I could always count on that.
Even now, almost 30 years later, I treasure knowing that I can pick up the phone and call Dad, and he'll be there for me. I have a wonderful husband, but that hasn't changed how Dad sees me. I'm still his child and he loves to see that my needs are met.
I remember a time when I was shopping in a hardware store(五金店)with Dad. I mentioned my plans to paint one wall in my house. Well, that's all it took for Dad to take action. By the time I got to the checkout(结账) line, all the supplies I picked out were put out of my hands and placed with things he bought.
Then there was the time when I took him with me to do some grocery shopping for just a few “ items”. By the time we were finished, my shopping cart was full of groceries from every shelf in the store! My sister and I joke that if you don't want Dad to buy it for you, avoid even mentioning you want something.
Everyone can help to save the world
We are all environmentalists now. We all know about acid rain and the ozone hole. As consumers we have the power to make decisions which will contribute to a better world and it is in our power to do what we can to protect the earth.
In this way we have the power to influence retailers (零售商) to sell us those so-called "green" products. Therefore, the supermarkets have understood the message and are now trying to improve their environmental image. They are turning to less wasteful and recyclable packaging. The range of "green" products will continue to expand to meet the growing demand. This message has also reached the manufacturers. They have realized that protecting the environment may start as an advertising campaign but in the hands of intelligent people it can become a very profitable business. Besides, we can do more.
Furthermore, we also know there are other areas where all of us can make a positive contribution to a cleaner, healthier and safer environment. There are a number of ways we can do this. For example, we now know how important it is to have our homes well insulated (隔热). We should choose the best energy efficient technology, such as modern light bulbs which can reduce electricity consumption by 80% over the older ones. We must also work hard to reduce the amount of rubbish we produce. We all produce tons of rubbish and waste disposal has become a big problem. As an environmentally-conscious consumer we should buy products which do not have so much packaging. Also, we should try to avoid non-returnable goods at all costs. In Scandinavia and Germany, for example, plastic bottles and cans are now returnable goods.
In conclusion it is important to emphasize once again the rise of consumer power. We must realize that we are all part of the problem.
A. We can all reduce energy consumption at home and so cut the emissions from power systems.
B. For example, when we walk into a supermarket we can choose to buy environmentally friendly products and reject products which damage our planet.
C. There are some other ways to protect the environment.
D. Companies are developing environmentally friendly products that maintain a high quality and a low price.
E. But what are we doing about these problems?
F. Nevertheless we must also realize that we have the responsibility to be part of the solution.
G. Everybody has the duty to contribute to a cleaner world.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I have read your advertisement on the Internet that the Organization of International High School Students is to hold the 2017 Summer Camp. ……
Yours,

I am so tired of winter. First it was all the snow and now it's just rain, rain, rain. It (seem) like the cold and rain have been here so long that I can (hard) remember what the sun looks. It has been wet and miserable for weeks and weeks.
All I want to do is climb into bed, crawl under the covers, hide from the world until spring is really here. official first day of spring is in less than a week, but you wouldn't know it at all from the weather.
I have been feeling so bad lately and think it has a lot to do with the (depress) weather this month. March is just the (bad) month in my opinion.
Today I got thoroughly wet my way home from work. It started to pour when I was walking to my car, which (park) at the end of the lot. Why do I always forget (bring) an umbrella with me?
I had a hard time (drive) home. I was wet and the traffic was terrible. But I am home now and happy that the day is over.
