Have you ever received a gift that was so dearly, not your taste that you wondered if perhaps it had been handed to you by mistake? Worse, have you ever given a present and watched your friend look as though she had opened the wrong box? Maybe she responded with a polite "Why, thank you," but you knew you had missed the mark. Why do presents sometimes go wrong? And what do your choices (good and bad) reflect about your personal qualities?
Choosing the right gift is an art, I believe. It calls for empathy -- the ability to put yourself into someone else's head and heart. We're all able to do this; in fact, we're born with a kind of natural empathy. After the earliest period of childhood, however, it needs to be reinforced (加强)--by our parents, teachers, friends. When it isn't, we're not able to understand other people's feelings as sharply. This can show in the gifts we select, and so can many other emotional (情感的) qualities.
Think back to the presents you’ve given over the past year, the time and effort you put into your selection, how much you spent, your thoughts while you were shopping, and your feelings when the receiver opened the package. Keep in mind that what you choose displays your inner world. (Of course, you may express yourself differently with different friends, relatives, and other people you know.
We live in a society where exchanging presents is an important part of communication. Ignoring the tradition won't make it go away. If you really dislike such a tradition, tell your friends ahead of time.

Students learn about art. Some famous pieces were written about important works of art,and students learn about the artists and styles as they're playing the music.Music education also brings higher thinking to our children. It allows them to think about complex patterns (How can I make my part sound better? How do this music and these different parts fit together?).Students have to know absolutely what every other musician does at all times. In that way,it develops teamwork. As one can see, music is very important to education besides bringing us fun.

Many years ago, on a winter morning, Lily, our only daughter, sat quietly, all her heart put into her work. Every once in a while she would ask how to spell the name of someone in our family, and then painstakingly(费力地) formed the letters one by one. Next, she added flowers and green grass at the bottom of each page with a sun in the upper right corner, surrounded by the blue sky. Holding them at eye level, she was satisfied.
“What are you making, honey?” I asked.
“It’s a surprise,” she said, covering up her work with her hands.
It wasn’t until later that evening that I noticed the “mailboxes” fastened to the door of each of our bedrooms. There was one for Edward, one for Tom. She hadn’t forgotten Peter and baby Paul.111]
For the next few weeks, we received mail regularly. There were little notes showing her love for each of us and short letters full of tiny things that only a seven-year-old child would notice. I was in charge of retrieving(取回) baby Paul’s letters, page after page of colored scenes, including flowers with happy faces.
“He can’t read yet,” she said, “but he can look at the pictures.”
This little girl grows up now, but something about her has never changed. One morning only a week or so ago, I found a love note next to my pillow.
“Thanks for always being there for me, Mum,” it read, “I’m glad that we are best friends,”

Too many of us are waiting too long to live our best lives. We keep putting everything off until tomorrow. Then, before we know it,we find ourselves asking,"How did it get so late so soon?"
So we'd better make today the beginning of our new life.Take time to figure ourselves out.Take time to realize what we want and need.Take time to love, laugh, cry, and learn.(11) .Here are five things we should start doing today:
Accept ourselves. The secret to happiness and success is the acceptance of ourselves. We will never become who we want to be if we rely on everyone else to qualify us.(12) .So always go with ourselves, never against ourselves.Be who we were created to be and we will set the world on fire.
Make ourselves a priority. To tell the truth, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to us,so we should stay true to ourselves.Put our own needs into the list of things to do.
(13) .Don't sit back and let things happen to us.Go out and make things happen. We are what we do,not what we say we'll do.Stop saying"I wish"and start saying"I will".Turn our dreams into plans.
Do the work.We can't underestimate (低估) a person who always works hard.Be that person.(14) .Always remember that the task ahead of us is never greater than the strength within us.Do what's right, not what's easy. Our dreams are worth it.
(15) .We can't force things to happen; we can only drive ourselves trying crazily. There's a time and place for everything. So don't force what's not yet supposed to fit into our life. When it's meant to be,it will be.Work hard, and be patient.
A.Take positive action.
B.Enjoy every moment of life.
C.Life is shorter than it often seems.
D.Everyone has a different way of life.
E.Accept ourselves just the way we are.
F.Allow life to happen like it's supposed to.
G.In life,we don't get what we wish for; we get what we work for.
