If ever a drink were invented to satisfy the thirst of social media, this may be it.

With its fantastic name, bright pink and blue twist topped with a pillow of whipped cream, Starbucks' new Unicom Frappuccino(独角兽星冰乐) practically asks to be posted on social media.
And a glimpse at Twitter shows Unicom Frappuccino is indeed gaining attention.
So what's in it? As Starbucks describes it: “A sweet dusting of pink powder, mixed into a Frappuccino with mango syrup and layered with a pleasantly sour blue drizzle. It is finished with vanilla whipped cream and a sprinkle of sweet pink and sour blue powder topping.”
A look at the ingredients reveals a list less fantastic. The pink powder is actually sugar and "Fruit and Vegetable Color.”
Starbucks advertises the drink “,as rare as a unicorn." But unicorn food is actually a thing. The BBC reports, it's fashionable to post pictures of rainbow colored food which reminds of the fairy tale creature.
Rainbow sushi, anyone?
As for the Unicorn Frappuccino, Lori Aquino said the drink caught her eye on social media. Then people at work were talking about it. “I saw it was coming out today, so I decided to try it,” Aquino said at a Washington D.C. Starbucks. “I'll probably put it on Snapchat or Instagram.”
She bought one to share with her two coworkers.
And the opinion?
“It's kind of nasty,” Aquino said.
Letitia Winston agreed: "Nope. That will not be something I come looking for."
But Moriam Animashaun was more forgiving. "It's not bad,” she said, “It's just really sweet.”
A 16-ounce medium, or a grande in Starbucks speak, comes in at 410 calories, 59 grams of sugar and 16 grams of fat.
One thing the women agreed on was the drink's appearance. “It's pretty," said Animashaun.
“It looks nice," agreed Winston.
And in the age of likes, snaps and tweets, the fantasy image may be all that matters.
The Unicom Frappuccino is available April 19 through April 23 at participating stores in the United Stales, Canada and Mexico.
Although environmental problems have existed for centuries, some people still care little about our environment. Problems like ice melting, electronic waste are lighting up news programs and becoming part of an ongoing dialogue about the environment.
As a teenager, what do you think all the problems mean for your future and for the future of the planet? For our October 2016 writing contest, we want you to really consider what you think about environmental problems.
Use these questions to help focus your essay
● What environmental problem do you think should cause the greatest alarm and action?
● Do you think that you have a personal responsibility to help solve environmental problems or do you feel helpless against the struggle?
● What do you think could help a specific environmental problem?
Don't try to answer all these questions. Use one of them to make a personal essay.
The title of the essay
When you hand in your essay, title it as: Environmental Problems: _______.
Include the phrase “Environmental Problems” as the beginning of your essay title, but then make the rest of your story title unique. Examples:
● Environmental Problems: Trashy Behavior and the Plastic Bottle
● Environmental Problems: We Can't Exist If We Refuse to Change
Rules:
1) This is a non-fiction essay contest.
2) Essays are 500 words or less.
3) Essays must be your original work.
The deadline:
Midnight Oct. 30, 2016
Results:
The winner will be posted on our writing contest website or on Teen Trend Report after Nov. 26, 2016.
Word of the Day Writing Competition
Days are getting colder, and everyone is slowly backing to the warm comfort of their homes. It's the best opportunity to make good use of the quietness and peace of the season by taking pen and paper(or a computer) out to write.
OxfordWords of Oxford University Press(OUP) is calling all aspiring(有抱负的) authors out there to take part in our writing competition. What we're looking for are imaginative(富有想象力的) short stories—not more than 500 words—that include every Word of the Day (WOTD) from November.
Each entry will be carefully considered by the OxfordWords team before deciding on a winner. The best storyteller will be given a year's fee to OxfordDictionaries.com, as well as £50 worth of OUP books, and have his or her piece published on that website.
Before you get started, please make sure you're read our terms and conditions. Entries can be submitted(递交) through the entry form, or posted into the comment section. Closing date for the competition is 5th January 2015.
And finally, for inspiration, have a look at the charming short story that gives us the idea for this competition, written by a fellow Oxford Dictionaries team member, and including all thirty one Words of the Day from October.
Find out more about our Word of the Day service and sign up to receive the words via email, or on Facebook, Google, and Twitter.

While visiting the North pole in winter may not be at the top of your bucket list, the ever-changing ICEHOTEL, which opened its doors to visitors on December 14 this year, may change your mind.200 km north of the Arctic Circle in the Swedish village of Jukkasjārvi, the hotel, which is carved entirely from ice, is rebuilt annually.
The 35 rooms, built to accommodate visitors on all kinds of budgets, vary from expensive suites to basic rooms that are furnished with just an icy bed and a reindeer skin. Among the highlights this year is the “Spruce Woods” suite. Sculpted by Christopher Pascoe and Jennie O'Keefe of Canada, it describes a camping scene complete with a classic microbus, a forest, and even an artificial campfire.
There is also the artfully-carved “Living Ocean” suite to remind visitors of the importance of saving our oceans. The room is full of carved sea life that includes coral and a shark “swimming” right over the ice bed. “The suite is inspired by global warming and the overfishing that affects our oceans.” says artist Jonathan Paul Green. “I also think the idea of using frozen water from a river in northern Sweden to create an ocean with shells, fish, and corals is exciting.”
The nearby “Haven” suite is a “magical gate of ice” guarded by two large animals. “We are inspired by the meeting between people and want to create an experience that invites curiosity and creativity, "says artist Jonas Johansson." It feels like a dream to get to work with ice that allows our love for light, shine, and reflection to wander freely from thought to creation.”
Regardless of whether visitors select the carved suites or the basic ice rooms, the temperature is always set to a bone-chilling -5℃! That is why guests are advised to snuggle(蜷缩)up inside sleeping bags and wear gloves and winter hats all night. Not surprisingly, most end up spending just a single night at this unique hotel before moving on to the conventional and warmer hotels nearby.
Broad Band: by Claire L. Evans. Portfolio, 2018($27)
Though often outnumbered by men, women stayed in the booming field of computing. In this inspiring tale, writer Evans records the contributions of some B. ROAD of the many women who aided the rise of the modern Internet. The Wizard and the Prophet: by Charles C. Mann. Knopf, 2018($28. 95)
The human population is moving toward 10 billion—some experts think we'll nearly hit that mark by 2050. How will the earth feed, house and otherwise support such a crowd?Environmental thinkers usually fall into one of two camps: those who prefer conservation and controlling consumption, like William ems, Norman Borlaug, for example, Writer Mann carefully record the lives and thought of the founder of these two philosophies.
A Lab of One's Own: by Patricia Fara. Oxford University Press, 2018($24. 95)
In World War I many women in the U. K. replaced their aprons with chemical suits and stepped into previously male-only fields of science, where they led war research efforts. Science historian Fara illustrates the lives of many of these forgotten women. Although the era marked a major step forward for women scientists, many worked for small wages in an environment of discrimination. In the nearly 100 years since, women have come a long way, Fara writes, but the glass ceilings remain solid and the pipelines leaky.

A Letter to My Younger Self
Dear 17-year-old self,
When your Laker (洛杉矶湖人队球员) dream comes true tomorrow, you need to figure out a way to invest in the future of your family and friends. This sounds simple, but you have to take some time to think it over.
I said invest.
I did not say give.
Let me explain.
Purely giving material things to your siblings (兄弟姐妹) and friends may appear to be the right decision. You love them, and they were always there for you growing up, so it's only right that they should share your success and all that comes with it. You buy them a car, a big house, and pay all of their bills. You want them to live a comfortable life, right?
But the day will come when you realize that as much as you believed you were doing the right thing, you were actually holding them back.
You will come to understand that you were taking care of them because it made you feel good to see them smiling. That was extremely selfish of you. While you were feeling satisfied with yourself, you were slowly eating away at their own dreams and ambitions. You were adding material things to their lives, but taking away the most precious gifts of all: independence and growth.
Understand that you are about to be the leader of the family. This involves making tough choices, even if your siblings and friends do not understand them at the time.
Invest in their future; don't just give.
Use your success, wealth and influence to put them in the best position to realize their own dreams and find their true purpose. Put them through school, set them up with job interviews and help them become leaders in their own right. Hold them to the same level of dedication (全身心投入) that it took for you to get to where you are now and where you will eventually go.
I'm writing you now so that you can begin this process immediately and don't have to deal with the struggle of getting rid of the addiction you caused. That addiction only leads to anger and jealousy from everybody involved, including yourself.
As time goes on, you will see them grow independently and have their own ambitions and their own lives, and your relationship with all of them will be much better as a result.
There's plenty more I could write to you, but at 17, I know you don't have the attention span (注意力持续时间) to sit through 2,000 words.
The next time I write to you, I may touch on the challenges of mixing blood with business. The most important advice I can give to you is to make sure your parents remain PARENTS and not managers.
Before you sign that first contract, figure out the right budget for your parents — one that will allow them to live beautifully while also growing your business and setting people up for long-term success. That way, your children's kids and their kids will be able to invest in their own futures when the time comes.
Your life is about to change, and things are about to come at you very fast. But just let this sink in a bit when you lay down at night after another nine-hour training day.
Trust me, setting things up right from the beginning will avoid a ton of tears and heartache, some of which remains to this day.
Much love,
Kobe

Most American families are smaller than the families in other countries. Most American families have one or two parents and one or two children each.
Children in the US will leave their parents' home when they grow up. They usually live far from their parents because they want to find good jobs. They often write to their parents or telephone them. And they often go to visit their parents on holiday.
Parents usually let their children choose their own jobs. Americans think it important for young people to decide on their lives by themselves.
Children are asked to do some work around their house. And in many families, children are paid for doing some housework so that they learn how to make money for their own use.
International Volunteer: Working with Children
Thinking about volunteering abroad?
Want to take a volunteer vacation? Think about volunteering internationally working with children. It is one of the most rewarding and life-changing things you can do in your spare time. Most importantly, it can dramatically improve children's lives. Given the various and interesting programs, let me give you a general description.
What types of opportunities are available?
Whether you choose to volunteer in Africa or anywhere else, there are many children who need help, so your efforts will gratefully applaud. First, you need decide which country to work in. Many volunteer abroad to experience more of a particular area they love. Next, decide on what type of project to work on. These projects generally fall under the following topics:
Work in school as a teaching assistant, helping with basic tasks such as reading, numeracy, etc. The beauty of this is that no formal training or qualifications are required!
Teaching English to children of all ages. Usually a TEFL qualification is required, but many schools only require you to speak English to a native level.
Running sports programs in various communities. If you are active and passionate about helping children through sports, this is for you.
