July 21 2020 ABC English EDUCATION Students taught to love parents A middle school in Wuhan has stood out among other schools in students' love and care for their parents. The students are asked to spend at least one hour doing housework for their parents or giving some help in the neighborhood every Sunday, Mother's Day and parents' birthdays. The school aims (旨在) at turning the students into well-mannered children. The students, mostly from one-child families, were taught to be a good child under strict rules. For example, they are now used to saying good-bye to parents in the morning before they go to school. And no one forgets to say hello to the parents when they return from school. The parents are pleased to find their children can help them with some housework such as making beds, washing and cooking. From Wuhan Post |

Some students want to be the leader of the class(班长). Now, they are making speeches.
|
Hi, I'm Helen. I'm a good listener. Good leaders don't tell others what to do. They listen to others with an open mind and always care for others. Choose me! And I'm always here to help! |
|
I'm Jack! Everyone wants school to be fun and drama is fun! So we need a drama club! I have a good sense of humor and you do, too! If you have good ideas, we can make that happen! So don't pick your nose! Pick me! |
|
I'm Feifei, and I'm a people person. I like hanging out with people, and I am easy to work with. It's important to have friends. We can do lots of activities in our club and make new friends. |
|
Hello, everyone! I'm Lee and I love to learn. Good leaders always have a hunger for new things. The more we learn, the smarter we get! Choose me, and let's make a study club to learn together! |
When learning new knowledge, it's normal to have problems and many students choose to ask the people around them for help. They can not only solve the problems but also improve a lot by discussing with their classmates, friends or teachers. However, a growing number of students are used to asking for help online.
As technology is developing, many apps can offer us lots of information on different subjects. Xiaoyuansouti is one of them. With its help, the students can understand the problems by sending the photos to it.
●Which do you prefer while having a problem: asking someone for help or searching online?
|
I'm Tommy. Asking someone for help can inspire me to have a full understanding of the problem. The process of our discussion leads me to think step by step better. | I'm Emma. I often ask my teachers about the problems. Whenever I can't understand something well, I can ask them to explain it. With the communication, I can learn much more easily. |
| I'm Jackson. I don't like talking much. I enjoy searching how to solve a problem online. I usually think over while reading the steps to solve a problem. I can always understand them well. | I'm Kelly. If you're a slow learner, you may be disliked by| the others. But if you learn by yourself online, you can learn the same thing again and again until you understand it. I have improved a lot in this way. |
●What can you do to work out your problems effectively(有效地)?
It's necessary to learn to work out problems effectively no matter you choose to ask someone around you for help or use the apps online. First, you should make sure what the problem is. Second, you need to find a proper example of solving the problem. Third, you should observe(观察) the steps and follow them. After that, you can rethink the process of solving the problem and further understand it in your own way. Finally, you had better do another similar exercise to check if you really learn something from it.

We got to the clean, lovely city- Yangzhou early in the morning. This is our first trip to China. We tried some delicious food for dinner in the evening. The hotel we are staying in is not expensive and it is very clean. We plan to stay here for a few days, visit some places of interest in the city, and then travel to the Great Wall in the north.
Sunday, April 27th
We visited the famous Slender West Lake(瘦西湖) which was crowded with visitors from all over the world, and bought a lot of toys for our friends outside the gate of the park. Everything was so colorful, and we took hundreds of photos already! Later today we will do the famous foot massage (按摩) and then leave Yangzhou for Beijing. We will take the night train north, stay in Beijing for two days and then catch a bus to the Great Wall.
Wednesday, April 30th
Our trip to the Great Wall was long and boring. We visited a small village in the mountains. People in the village love the quiet life. They are the kindest people I have ever met. They always smile and say," Hello." Ralph and I can speak only a few words in Chinese, so smiling is the way to show our kindness.

I'm happy to be here today to share my experience with you. Three years ago, my doctor told me that I had to lose weight to stay healthy. So, I made up my mind that I would change my lifestyle(生活方式).
I believe that the key to losing weight is having a positive(积极的) mind. During the past three years, whenever I faced difficulties, I would encourage(鼓励) myself. That's how I could keep going.
Next, I had to change my diet(饮食). I threw away all of the junk food in my house. When I went shopping, I only bought healthy food for myself. I suggest that when you get home, you should check the food in your fridge. Will help you become the healthy person you want to be?
Lastly, I also started exercising. I tried to get out of my room. At first, it was difficult for me. But as time went by, I started doing more and more exercise. Now, I'm able to run 5 kilometres everyday.
Losing weight is all about making the right choices for your health. I've made it. And I want to tell you that you can, too!

Beijing Zoo It is one of the best zoos in China. The zoo opened for the first time in1908. After 1949, the zoo was rebuilt(重建)and was opened again in 1950. |
Today, every city has zoos. They are great places for people to relax. People can always have a good time when they see those cute animals. But what about the animals? Are they happy in the zoos?
Do we really need zoos?
|
Mark Zoos are good places for saving animals in danger. For example (例如), there might not be any pandas left if we don't have zoos. |
|
Anna People can have a nice family trip in the zoo. Children can learn to love and care the animals in the zoo. |
|
Tony I don't think zoos are happy places for animals. They can't live with their family or play with their friends. In some zoos, the animals don 't have enough(足够的) food to eat and their places are too small for them. |
What do people usually do in the zoo?
There are some animal shows in the zoo. For example, people can watch birds' shows or watch elephants play ball games. And some people like to take photos with cute animals. Some children like to give food to animals. But it is not good for animals sometimes.

Beyonce: Coachella Music Festival
California

Dear Paul,
I'm so happy that you will go to middle school this September. I will give you some advice on your middle school 1.
Don't be 2 in class. Try to be an active student and 3 the teachers' questions. You may make some mistakes, but don't be 4 of that.
Get on well with your 5. Be a friendly boy and 6 them when they are in trouble. Do some sports with some of your classmates in 7 class.
Don't care about your appearance too much. There is a scar on 8 face because of a car accident. Keep your head up, and 9 to be a confident boy.
Study hard and try your best to learn all the subjects. I know you do well in math, 10 you should also study other subjects like English, art, science and history.
In a word, I hope everything will be OK in your new school life.
Yours,
Dad
