    I still remember my kindergarten teacher, Mrs White. She looked like Walt Disney's Snow White, because she had the 1 bright blue eyes and short dark hair.

    We used to write a lot. And I would bring back what I wrote and my mother would find many mistakes, 2 no red corrections(批改) and always a star. I was feeling happy with my writing. But it 3 my mother, so one day when she met Mrs White at a Parent- Teacher meeting, she asked her why she never corrected my mistakes and why she never said no to her student.

    Mrs White said, "The children are just beginning to get excited about using words. Spelling and grammar can wait. We can't stop that 4 with red ink." It was a long time ago. And my mother gave me the main idea of what Mrs White had told her. So I 5 learning to use words with loving confidence like that.

    If Mrs White had used her red pen more often, I probably wouldn't be telling you about this now. I look back now and think she was such a 6 teacher, who tried to, use less red ink to keep the joy，wonder and excitement in my mind.

    And thanks to Mrs White I had no fear of writing what I want to write even if I couldn't quite spell it out. Also I'm not afraid of any mistakes because life is beautiful.

A teenage girl couldn't stand(忍受) her parents' discipline(管教)，so she left home. She wanted to be famous. But a few years later she had to beg on the street to live.

Now her father has died. Her mother was an old woman. But the mother still looked for the daughter. She went to every corner of the city. Everywhere she went, she posted a big picture of herself. At the bottom of the picture, she wrote, "I still love you, please come back home!"

One day, the girl saw one of the pictures. The face was familiar(熟悉的)."Is that my mother?" She moved closer and read the words. She couldn't hold back her tears.

When she got home，it was early morning. She knocked on the door. The door opened itself! She rushed to her mother's bedroom. Her mother was sleeping. She woke her mother, "It's me! Your daughter is back home!"

The mother and daughter held each other, full of happy tears. The daughter asked, "Why is the door not locked(锁)? A thief could get in.”

The mother answered softly, "The door has never been locked since you left.”

    A young woman was walking through a supermarket to get something. She saw an old man walking behind her. She thought he was just an old farmer and went on shopping. After she got all she wanted, she went to the checkout(付款处) line, but the old man got in front of her.

    "Excuse me," he said. "I'm sorry if I will make you unhappy. It's just because you look like my daughter's daughter. Five years ago she died when she was eighteen years old. And I miss her very much."

    "I'm sorry to hear that and I'm the same age as her," answered the young woman. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

    "Yes," the old man said. "When I'm leaving, can you say ' Goodbye, Grandpa' to me? It would make me feel much better."

    "Sure," answered the young woman.

    As the old man was leaving, she shouted, "Bye-bye, Grandpa!"

    When she went near to the checkout counter  (柜台)，she saw that it was $ 780.

    "How can that be?" she asked. "I only bought a ten-dollar melon!"

    "Your grandpa said you would pay for him," said the assistant.
