Everyone gets sad. Sad feelings can happen pretty often. More than half of teenagers go through a sad period at least once a month.
When you're sad, it feels like it will last forever. However, feelings of sadness usually don't last very long — a few hours, or maybe a day or two.
When you're sad, the world seems dark and unfriendly. Many times, you cry, and it's hard to stop.
Crying usually makes you feel better. When sadness starts to go away, it feels like a heavy blanket (毛毯) is being lifted from your heart.
If sad feelings go on for too long, it's called depression (抑郁症). Children who have depression may not know it. Often, it's a parent or teacher who notices changes in children's behavior.
When depression happens, it's very important for children to receive treatment (治疗). When they do, they can get better quickly. Sometimes treatment includes talking to someone who knows all about depression. Sometimes it means taking medicine. Sometimes both of these things are used.
If you think you have depression, or you just have sadness that simply will not go away, it is important to talk to an adult about it. This person can help you find the right type of treatment. Many cities also have mental health hot lines that are listed in the phone book. There is always somebody who can help.

A woman one day said something that deeply hurt her best friend. She felt sorry immediately and would have done anything to take the words back. She went to an older, (wise) woman in the village, explained her situation, and asked help.
After (listen) to her, the older woman felt her pain and knew that she could never help her get out of it, she could teach. She said, "Tonight, take your best feather pillows(枕头) and put every feather on the doorstep of each house in the town before the sun (rise)."
The young woman hurried home (get) the pillows which were very dear to her. All night long, she went from doorstep door step, putting down the feathers carefully. Finally, just as the sun rose, she finished the work and returned to the older woman.
"Now, "said the wiser woman, "go back and collect all the feathers. Then everything will be as it was before. "The young woman was (surprise). "You know that's impossible! The wind blew away each feather as fast as I placed them on doorsteps!"
"That's true," said the older woman. "Never forget each of your (word) is like a feather in the wind. Once spoken, nobody can ever help you return to your mouth."

How to Make Yourself Happy
As we know, life is not all roses. Then how to make yourself happy when you have troubles?
—I'm sorry. _______ Jack ______ I have ever been there.
—I agree with you.
The little boy play than study.
My teacher asked me to give a piano performance at our school's culture festival. That made me both excited and nervous. I was worried about stage fright (怯场). Though I had been practicing the music I was going to play many times, I was afraid something bad might happen. As the day went by, I grew more and more nervous. I couldn't pay attention to anything until the moment of my performance finally arrived.
There I was, on stage. My mouth was dry. I felt as if there had been some butterflies flying in my stomach. My fingers were resting on the black and white keys. The audience (观众) waited patiently, with smiles on their faces. I looked at my mother and she smiled back at me. I could not move at all. I couldn't remember how the music began!
I was so nervous on the stage. I had to do something to change the situation. After sitting for what seemed like five minutes, I suddenly thought of an idea. I stood up, bowed, and said, "That was the song of silence. Thank you." At first, all my friends and their parents looked confused (困惑的) , but slowly they kept quiet. After that, I sat back down and began to play the music. I played it better than I ever had before. Still, I think I'm better suited to be a comedian than a musician.
