I have just finished reading the lovely book called Daddy Long Legs written by Jean Webster.
Judy was a girl who was always positive about life though she was an orphan(孤儿) living in a small village for 18 years. Then one day a man came and decided to send her to college, which later totally changed Judy's life. He asked Judy to write him a letter once a month to tell him what she had learned at school. But he would never reply to her letter. The different life between the village and the college made Judy fully realize the beauty of life and she cherished every moment of her life. She never asked too much about life. Her only quarrel (争吵) with life was that time ran too fast. She caught up with other classmates so quickly although she had a quite different childhood from them, which at first did cause her a lot of trouble. The story of Judy was told in the form of letters which were also written by Judy herself. When I was reading the letters, I was touched by Judy's character.
I am wondering whether you have ever read it and I am sure that you will be deeply moved by the unexpected and romantic ending if you are a teenage girl. In a word, Daddy Long Legs is worth reading.
Many students have hobbies, like reading, painting and looking animals. Some hobbies are relaxing and others are creative. Hobbies can make you (grow) as a person, develop your interests and help you learn new skills.
David Smith is a student, and his hobby writing. During the summer of 2011, he spent four weeks on a summer camp. As well as the usual activities, such sailing, climbing mountains and biking, there was a writing workshop with a professional writer. "She asked us (imagine) that we were in a story. Then we wrote about our experiences at the camp."
In senior high school David (write) a book about teenage life. Many teenagers love his book, and as a result, David has become a (success) young writer.
David has been very lucky because his hobby has brought enjoyment and success to (he), but he is also interested in many other things. "I like playing volleyball, too," says David. "I spend some of my free time (play) volleyball for my school team. Maybe I'll write more books in the future, I'm not sure."
There are many other interesting things to do in life, and we should try to do something new or different.

There are so many different kinds of music in America. Compared with others, jazz is much younger. Americans loved it, and soon, so did people all over the world. Jazz was a truly American creation (创造) some even say that it is the only truly American art form.
Even though jazz seemed brand new (崭新的) in the 1920s, it had actually been developing over many years. In the early 1900s, African-American blues along with music from other traditions combined (结合) with a New Orleans style of band music was played for processions (游行) . The result of that combination was a brand new sound—jazz. Jazz is seen by many as "America's classical music". Since the 1920s Jazz Age, jazz has become a major form of musical expression.
New Orleans was home to some of the original Jazz masters. Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz trumpet (小号) player; Jelly Roll Morton, the famous pianist; and Joe "King" Oliver, the famous cornet (短号) player, all called New Orleans home. Louis Armstrong was popular for his trumpet and cornet playing and for his famous gravelly (沙哑的) singing voice. In the 1920s, he played in "King" Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. Jelly Roll Morton was a great jazz composer (作曲家) , as well as a piano player.
