But some people think there are some problems about using self-driving cars to deliver food. For example, self-driving cars can drive well on flat (平坦的）roads, but can they drive well when the road is not flat? People must work out the problems before they can use self-driving cars.

Also, people say delivery men will lose their jobs if we use self-driving cars in the near future. Do you think so? My answer is "No." because self-driving delivery cannot bring food to everyone in every city.

Elton loved swimming, boating and riding his bike in summer. When it snowed, he was always sad. He just wanted to stay inside.

Here came the first snow this year. After lunch, the doorbell rang (门铃响了）. It was Penelope, Elton's next-door neighbor. "Elton，would you like to come outside and make a snowman with me?" Penelope asked. Elton wrinkled (皱起）his nose.

"Elton, would you like to go snow-shoeing?" asked Penelope, with two pairs of snowshoes in her hands. Elton wrinkled his nose but said, "Sure, I think so."

Elton and Penelope put on the snowshoes and walked through the trees behind the house. At lunchtime, Elton came home without his unhappy face.

That afternoon, the doorbell rang once more—it was Penelope. "Elton, would you like to go sledding (乘雪橇)?" she asked. This time Elton put on his coat quickly and went out with Penelope.

Elton decided that he loved winter. "Winter could be a ___▲___ time of a year, too." he thought.

There are different kinds of animals living on the earth. Some of them are small, and some are big. But they all sleep! All animals need sleep. Some sleep a little, others sleep a lot, and some get their zzzz's in interesting ways.

Light Sleepers

Giraffes sleep for just a few hours each day. It is dangerous for them to sleep for a long time. Why? First of all, predators, like a lion, might get them at that time. Also, it usually takes giraffes about one minute to stand up and run away at once, so they have to stand up when they sleep. However, they often need to lie (躺）down to have a deep sleep for half an hour.

Big Sleepers

Koalas live in Australia. They may sleep 18 to 20 hours a day! They wake up, eat leaves and then go right hack to sleep. Lions are predators. They get other animals as food. Lions are big sleepers, too. When lions are not eating, they usually play and sleep. They can sleep well. After all, who wants to wake up a sleeping lion?

Half-Asleep Sleepers

Scientists found that dolphins can make half of their brain(大脑）sleep at a time. The other half stays awake! Like dolphins, when some birds fly far across the sea, they can also sleep with half of their brains and the other half keeps flying. Other birds sleep for a short time when they float (漂浮） on air over the sea. They fly and sleep, fly and sleep. After they get home, they sleep a lot.

Many people dream of going on a challenging (有挑战性的) travel. Most of them keep dreaming; others make it come /tru:/. Gregg Bleakney dreamed of going bike riding from (北方）America to South America after finishing a great bike ride. His friend, Brooks Allen，had the same dream.

To (支付) for the trip, the two friends worked for years. When they were on the road, they (露营) outdoors or stayed in cheap hotels. (幸运地), in many places，people there opened their homes to the two friends and gave them food.

On their bike trip, Gregg and Brooks visited many places—large cities, small towns and villages. Along the way, they met other bicyclists from (在……周围) the world. Brooks had to go back to the USA near the bottom of South America and Gregg went on without him. In May 2007, Gregg finished his dream ride in the (结尾). He visited twelve (国家) and finished the 30,500-kilometer trip. The trips (教) both men a lot about traveling and life.

Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, and be what you want to be. Go for your dream and (战斗) for it. You can make it like Gregg and Brooks and have fun when you are at it.

It was five days before Teachers'day. Tim's mother was very busy. But she didn't forget (buy) cards for her son's teachers. She drove to a gift store on her way home from work. When she came back, she put the cards on the table the living room.

When Tim came home, she said to him, "Here are five cards for your teachers, and there is pen, stamps (邮票) and our book of addresses (地址) . Can you write the cards when I (cook) the dinner?" Tim did not say (something). He walked out of the living room and went into his room. Tim's mother was a little unhappy, she didn't say a word. She knew that her son always talked little. She was just thinking, " can I make him write the cards? "

A few (minute) later, Tim came back with a box of cards. All of them had addresses and stamps on them. Tim's mother was very surprised and asked, "Oh, what are these?" "Mum," Tim answered, "I bought the cards and (write) all of them a few days ago." Hearing this, his mother was very moved and said," You're (real) great, dear."
