Hermione
and Richard Crayford, from Texas, shared with us their story of a "dream Caribbean
cruise (漫游)" that turned into a
nightmare.
"From
the moment we arrived at the port, we knew this holiday was not going to be what
we had expected. The first thing we noticed was that half the passengers were elderly
people and that the other half were families with children of all ages. The second
thing we noticed was that the ship looked a lot less luxurious (豪华的) than it did in the brochure (小册子)," said
Hermione.
But the
real shock came when they were shown their cabin (客舱). "It was small, uncomfortable and had no windows — so much for
the sea view. Of course, we went to reception immediately and asked if we could
pay a little bit extra for a better cabin. They told us that all the cabins were
full and there was nothing they could do for us. It was useless to argue with them,
so we tried to calm down," said Hermione.
However,
things got worse. The ship was just about to sail when they heard an announcement
that there was going to be a three-hour delay (延迟) due to
technical problems. There were many more dissatisfied passengers when they were
asked to stay on board and enjoy a free meal at the restaurant. "The free meal
we were offered was completely tasteless and we couldn't eat it. After lunch, we
went back to our cabin to rest for a while," said Richard. "I felt like
taking a shower but the shower wasn't working. I called reception and they said
there was a problem with the water supply in most cabins and that they were doing
their best to deal with it."
"We
hardly got any sleep that night. The next day, when the ship made its first stop
at Grand Cayman, we got off along with all the other passengers and we never went
back," said Hermione.
Richard
and Hermione have already written a letter of complaint (投诉) to the travel agency asking for a full refund (退款).
