The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the world's four oceans. The Coral Sea (珊瑚海) is in the Pacific Ocean and is home to one of nature's greatest wonders, the Great Barrier Reef (大堡礁) . And the reef is now in danger.

It is the world's largest coral reef system  (系统) . That is made up of almost 3, 000 different corals. The reef is home to 400 kinds of coral animals and over 2, 00 kinds of fish. Much of the life in the ocean calls the reef home.

However global warming (全球变暖) is causing a worse condition in the Great Barrier Reef. Rising ocean temperatures cause coral to run out of the algae (海藻) . The algae not only live in it, but also are the main food for the coral. Without it, the coral is sill alive but is slowly becoming dead.

As even humans depend on coral reef systems for food, the death of the world's largest coral reef system would be bad for the planet, Scientists hope they can help stop the global warming and protect nature's wonders like coral reefs.

On Feb. 25th, the short film Bao (《包宝宝》) won this year's Oscar for Best Animated Short (最佳动画短片奖) . The leading character (角色) is a small baozi, and it becomes the child of a Chinese woman in the movie.

Domee Shi, Pixar's first woman Chinese-Canadian director (导演), got the idea from her own mother and made the movie.

In the film, many parts show the way the Chinese woman loves her "son". She makes big meals, cleans up the house carefully and always wants to do everything for her son. But as Bao grows up, he wants to have his own life. He starts to stay with his friends and get home late, so his mom is often angry with him. He'd like to depend on (依靠) himself, but he can't get out of his mother's control (控制). In fact, many children like Bao in China also love their parents, but they have to work far away from their parents when they become adults.

    In Cameron's own words, the movie is "not like any of the films that I've done before". Its visual effects are especially impressive. The film's actors used the latest motion-capture (动作捕捉) technology. They wore special suits that record their movements. Later, motion-capture editors use these movements to make special effects. Rosa Salaza plays Alita. She wore a suit with more than 7, 000 pieces and layers. It can capture human movement. The model that was used for her face was changed nearly 5, 000 times to make it more lifelike.
