Instagram is containing so many photos of food---now a pop-up diner in London is taking advantage of this new trend by letting people settle the bill for their meals simply by uploading photos of their dishes to social networks.
I always thought people's taking pictures of their food was kind of silly, but at this new pop-up restaurant in the UK, I'd probably do it too. “The Picture House” is the world's first pay-by-photo restaurant—you order, click a photo of the food, share on Instagram and eat for free!
The restaurant belongs to frozen food giant (巨人)Birds Eye, who came up with the idea to cash in on people’s addiction with photographing food and sharing the pictures online. They conducted a survey and found out that more than half of the British population regularly took pictures of their meals. So they realized it was a better way to advertise their new dining range.
The pop-up diner was open in Soho, London for three days in May, and is now moving to other major UK cities. They serve two-course meals that customers don't have to pay for, if they photo and Instagram it.
The restaurant is a part of Birds Eye’s “Food for Life,” campaign, a new marketing project that aims at changing the way people look at frozen food. “Taking photos of food enables people to show off and to share their mealtime moments—from the everyday to the special,” said marketing director Margaret Jobling.
The reaction to The Picture House has been great so far. And the pay-by-picture concept has proven to be an effective way. Alternative payment methods are actually gaining popularity among a lot of businesses. Last year, in a cafe in Germany customers pay by how much time they spend there, not by what they eat.

Can people change their skin color without suffering like pop king Michael Jackson? Perhaps yes.Scientists have found the gene that determines skin color.
The gene comes in two versions, one of which is found in 99 per cent of Europeans. The other is found in 93 t0 100 per cent of Africans, researchers at Pennsylvania State University report in the latest issue of Science.
Scientists have changed the color of a dark - striped zebrafish(斑马鱼) to uniform gold by inserting a version of the pigment(色素) gene into a young fish.As with humans, zebrafish skin color is deter-mined by pigment cells, which contain melanin(黑色素).The number, size and darkness of melanin perpigment cell determine skin color.
It appears that, like the golden zebrafish, light - skinned Europeans also have a mutation (变异) in the gene for melanin production. This results in less pigrnented skin.
However, Keith Cheng, leader of the research team, points out that the mutation is different in hu-man ancl zebrafish genes.
Humans acquired dark skin in Africa about l.5 million years ago to protect bodies from ultra - violetrays of the sun. which can cause skin cancer.
But when modem humans leave Africa to live in northem latitudes, they need more sunlight on their skin to produce vitamin D. So the related gene changes, according to Cheng.
Asians have the same version of the gene as Africans, so they probably acquired their light skin through the action of some other gene that affects skin color, said Cheng.
The new discovery could lead to medical treatments for skin cancer.lt also could lead to research in-to ways to change skin color without damaging it like chemical treatment did on Michael Jackson.

Every morning, some people may have the habit of watching the astrological(占星术的)advice on the TV news before they go to work. When reading magazines, some people might first go to the section on astrological predictions to determine what’s in store for them in the coming day, week or month. This interest in astrology is especially strong at the beginning of a new year.Immediately before a new year, many astrological experts are making predictions and giving advice. It seems that astrology is gaining popularity, but how popular is astrology and is it actually trustworthy?
According to a study by searchterms com,the word astrology is the most searched topic on the Internet, and a search for astrology on Google will bring up nearly two million websites.A study by the newspaper USA Today shows that a third of all Americans believers in astrology and spend almost $100 million a year on it.More surprisingly, the fastest-growing group of believers in America is made up of managers and professionals. No wonder Donald Regan, former White House Chief of Staff, said,“It’s common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street brokers use astrology.”
The most famous astrologer is Nostradamus.Long ago,he correctly predicted events such as the Second World War,the killing of U.S.President John F.Kennedy, and most recently, the attack on the World Trade Center.Another famous astrologer,Frau Elsbeth Ebertin, accurately predicted that Adolph Hitler would become Fuhrer-the leader after she was given Hitler’s birth chart. In fact,Hitler himself was a believer in astrology.Ifs thought that he used an astrologer throughout the Second World War.The wife of former American president Ronald Reagan,Nancy, was also a firm believer in astrology. She employed an astrologer to ask about President Reagan’s future safety after the president was shot.
Though some people may consider astrology superstitious(迷信的),others think it is both a science and an art.Since the moon has an effect on the ocean, and 75 percent of the human body is made up of water,it is reasonable to say that astrology,a study of the stars, may affect humans as well. Therefore,if viewed in this way, astrology may be believable and it is easy to see why it is so popular.

Mr Amabile,a respected business thinker, taught a lot of companies his theories of competitive advantage. Mr Amabile claims that competition can save even America’ S troubled health-care system, the largest in the world. He and Elizabeth Olmsted Teisberg argue in their book “Redefining Health Care” that competition, properly applied, can fix what troubles this sector(部门).
That is a daring claim, considering the horrible state of America’ S health-care system. Just consider a few of its failings : America pays more for health care than most countries, but it still has some 45 million citizens with no health insurance at all. While a few receive outstanding treatment, most do not. The authors conclude that it is “ on a dangerous path, with a poisonous combination of high costs, uneven quality, frequent errors and limited access to care. ”
The authors offer a package of solutions to fix this mess, and thereby to put the sector on a genuine competitive footing. First, bring the data in the broad daylight. Second, transform competition from the level of doctors and hospitals to the level of medical conditions, which is completely absent. The authors argue that the right evaluation of “value” for the health sector should be how well a patient improves over the entire treatment, and what the cost is for that entire cycle.
If there is a drawback in this book,it is that the authors sometimes appear over-optimistic. They argue ,for example, that their solutions are so reasonable that private clinic could practise them well without waiting for the government to fix its policy mistakes. That seems to be an attractive idea, but it falls into a trap(陷阱)that economists call the fallacy(谬论)of the $20 bill on the street. If there really were easy money on the pavement, surely previous passers-by would have bent over and picked it up by now!
In the same way,if Mr Amabile ’ S prescriptions (处方)are so sensible that companies can make money in the absence of government policy changes, why have they not done so already? One reason may be that they can make more money in the current mess than in a perfectly competitive market.
In the end, though, that is small criticism of a very big book.
67.Mr Amabile argues in his book that_______.
A. America’s health-care system leaves nothing to be desired
B. it is no easy task to improve America ’ S health-care system
C. competition can help improve America’ S health-care system

A. competition may help improve medical conditions
B. America ’ S health-care system is under severe competition
C. there is too much competition among doctors and hospitals
D. few patients in America have received qualified treatment
69.In the author ’ s opinion, the book cannot be considered perfect in that_______.
A. the solutions given are impossible to be applied
B. optimistic thinking often leads to careless judgment
C. the authors of the book have offered an economic fallacy
D. companies may make less money in a competitive market
70.The author takes a(n) _______attitude toward the book “Redefining Health Care”.

LONDON — Britain awoke on Easter Monday to a period of mourning for the Queen Mother, who died over the weekend after a life spanning a century of noisy and evident change. The 101-year-old royal matriarch died in her sleep last Saturday with Queen Elizabeth, her elder and only surviving daughter, at her bedside. For a woman who was one of the best-known figures in Britain for more than 80 years - from the time of colored portraits on tin biscuit boxes and cigarette cards to the age of the Internet, the Queen Mother remained an mysterious figure that is difficult to capture.
She achieved such a respect through immeasurable long time of, first, flattering and, later, intrusive media fascination, by remaining almost entirely silent. Her private thoughts were never showed off in public. What the public saw was a charming and kind elderly lady, expert at winning the admiration of press photographers, whom she always favored with a particular smile.

Do you spend over an hour each day texting messages to your friends? Do you frequently ignore work, study, and other activities to check your phone for messages? Are you anxious and restless if you are separated from your mobile phone? Do you hardly ever use your phone to talk any more, and do your thumbs hurt from texting too much?
If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, then it is very possible that you are a textaholic. A textaholic can be defined as someone who is addicted to sending and receiving messages. The main symptoms are a strong desire to text messages, which takes precedence (优先)over everything else, and bad moods, low spirits and a lack of self-confidence if messages fail to come in. The root of the problem, as with many addictions, is the desire to escape from emotional difficulties such as stress, anxiety and relationship problems. Experts warn that text addiction is likely to become the most common form of addiction in the future, especially among the young.
So what can you do if you think you may be a textaholic? The key is to get your life back in balance. Make sure you resist the urge to answer every message you receive, and consider leaving your mobile phone behind occasionally when you go out. Most importantly, make a point of spending quality time with friends and family, and make time to re-learn the art of face-to-face conversation instead of conducting your relationships by means of text messages. Not only will you save time and money, but you may also rediscover the pleasure of true communication.

Maintain a healthy diet
Maintaining a healthy diet can be challenging for a variety of reasons: insufficient time, ever-evolving research on super foods, and an overwhelming amount of competing and expensive diet plans. Long story short, there’s tons of noise out there about what to eat and what not to eat. It seems like everyone is an “expert” these days with an opinion. So, to save you time and undue stress, we’ve streamlined that information, pulling out the most common diet habits from leading voices in the wellness world. Keep scrolling to find out our top five.
First, remember breakfast might just be the most important meal of the day, so it’s important you start off on a healthful foot. To get started, you may find it helpful to stick to similar foods each morning, nothing too complex—think egg whites, organic berries, spinach, and avocado. Or just stick to a smoothie(果汁与牛奶混合的饮料) once you get comfortable with that, certified holistic nutritionist Elizabeth Stein advised a few delicious recipes for a healthy breakfast perfect for the weekend when you have a little more time to experiment in the kitchen.
It’s undeniable that one of the first names we think of in Hollywood wellness is Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s an ardent follower of healthy living and elimination diets such as CLEAN that consist of, you guessed it, clean whole foods; i. e. foods with tons of additives are out, like frozen dinners, fast food and most any takeout. She contributes a lot to the progress of the focus to shift to organic produce, learn animal proteins, nuts and non-gluten grains and starch (and her body is kind of proof it works). She even wrote a book of healthy recipes, it’s All Good.
Exercise benefits our health of course, but following a workout, your body is in recovery mode and your metabolism in overdrive. Consuming the correct foods to replenish, reduce inflammation, and re-hydrate is key. We even have a specific list of which foods to reach for after a workout from our exclusive interview with plant-based nutrition site Vega’s national educator and RHN, Emma Andrews.
Besides, don’t forget consuming soda is one of the worst things you can do to your body. In a study published in the medical journal Heart, drinking only two cans of any soda is proven to make you more likely to suffer from heart disease. Instead, sip on a sweet alternative like Vita Coco Coconut Water.
And we should consume healthy fat. That’s right, according to three nutritionists, there are some fats that are considered great for the body’s digestion, and we should all be adding them to our grocery list ASAP. A few to know: avocado, raw nuts, and coconut oil.
