“Who needs a shopping mall (购物中心)if you have Taobao?” says Wang Lin,28,a writer in Beijing.
Taobao,China’s largest online shopping site (网上购物网站),has become an important part of Wang Lin’s life. She spends lots of money on Taobao. A growing number of Chinese Internet users like Wang have found the joys of online shopping .Most online shoppers are students or young workers .More women shop on line than men. Clothing and home-use products(产品)are the most popular on line.
It was reported that more than 250 billion(十亿)yuan was spent on online shopping last year, 80% through Taobao.
Taobao means “looking for treasure” in Chinese. People can find almost everything they need on Taobao, from clothes to books , from candies to DVD players .
You may question the security of online shopping ,Wang Lin said, “”It’s very safe and convenient ( 便利的).Unless you receive the products from the sellers and are satisfied with them, the shop owner will not get the money .You can also get your money back if you want to return the products.”

According to a survey, which was based on the responses of over 188,000 students, today’s traditional age college freshmen are “ more materialistic and less altruistic(利他主义的)”than at any time in the 17 years of the poll.
It is quite common that in these hard times, the students’ major aim is to be financially(经济地)well off. Developing a meaningful idea of life has become less important. It follows then that today the most popular course is not literature or history but accounting.
That’s no surprise. A friend of mine( a sales representative for a chemical company) was making twice the salary of her college teachers her first year on the job.
Though it’s true that we all need a career, it is equally true that our civilization has accumulated(积累)an incredible amount of knowledge in fields beyond our own and that it’s better for us to understand other contributions--- whether they are scientific or artistic. It is equally true that, in studying the diverse wisdom of others, we learn how to think. More important, perhaps, education teaches us to see the connections between things, as well as to see beyond our immediate needs.
But the most important argument for a broad education is that in studying the accumulated wisdom of the ages, we improve our moral sense. I saw a cartoon recently which shows a group of businessmen looking puzzled as they sit around a conference table; one of them is talking on the intercom(对讲机), “ Miss Baxter,” he says, “ could you please send in someone who can tell right from wrong?”
From the long-term point of vies, that’s what education really ought to be about.
72. According to the author’s observation, college students_______.

C. have never been so financially well off as today.

A. business management should be included in educational programs
B. human wisdom has accumulated at an extraordinarily high speed
C. our civilization has accumulated knowledge far beyond us
D. the importance of a broad education should not be ignored.
75.Studying the diverse wisdom of others can_______.

“Cleverness is a gift while kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy—they’re given after all. Choices
can be hard.” —Jeff Bezos
I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact that the Internet usage was growing at 2,300 percent per year. I’d never seen or heard of anything that grew that fast, and the idea of building an online bookstore with millions of titles was very exciting to me. I had just turned 30 years old, and I’d been married for a year. I told my wife MacKenzie that I wanted to quit my job and go to do this crazy thing that probably wouldn’t work since most start-ups don’t, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. MacKenzie told me I should go for it. As a young boy, I’d been a garage inventor. I’d always wanted to be an inventor, and she wanted me to follow my passion.
I was working at a financial firm in New York City with a bunch of very smart people, and I had a brilliant boss that I much admired. I went to my boss and told him I wanted to start a company selling books on the Internet. He took me on a long walk in Central Park, listened carefully to me, and finally said, “That sounds like a really good idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn’t already have a good job.” That logic made some sense to me, and he convinced me to think about it for 48 hours before making a final decision. Seen in that light, it really was a difficult choice, but finally, I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted by a decision not to try at all.
After much consideration, I took the less safe path to follow my passion, and I’m proud of that choice. For all of us, in the end, we are our choices.

If you intend using humor in your talk to make people smile, you must know how to identify shared experiences and problems. Your humor must be relevant to the audience and should help to show them that you are one of them or that you understand their situation and are in sympathy with their point of view. Depending on whom you are addressing, the problems will be different. If you are talking to a group of teachers, you may refer to the peculiar bahaviors of their students; alternatively if you are addressing students, you may want to comment on their peculiar teachers.
Here is an example, which I overheard of a students' conversation that works perfectly because the audience all shared the same view of their English teachers. In the traffic court of Shanghai, a young lady was brought before a judge to answer for a ticket given to her for driving through a red light. She explained to his honor that she was a high school English teacher and requested an immediate disposal of her case so she could get to the school on time. A wild gleam came into the judge’s eyes. “You’re an English teacher, oh?” he said. “Madam, I shall realize my lifelong ambition, I’ve waited years to have an English teacher in this court.” “Now sit down at the table and write I will not drive through red lights.” “500 times!”
If you are part of the group which you are addressing, you will be in a position to know the experiences and problems which are common to all of you and it'll be appropriate for you to make a passing remark about the inedible canteen food or the chairman's notorious bad taste in ties. With other audiences you mustn't attempt to cut in with humor as they will resent an outsider making disparaging remarks about their canteen or their chairman. You will be on safer ground if you stick to scapegoats like the Post Office or the telephone system.
If you feel awkward being humorous, you must practice so that it becomes more natural. Include a few casual and apparently off-the-cuff(即兴的)remarks which you can deliver in a relaxed and unforced manner. Often it's the delivery which causes the audience to smile, so speak slowly and remember that a raised eyebrow or an unbelieving look may help to show that you are making a light-hearted remark.
Look for the humor. It often comes from the unexpected. A twist on a familiar quote "If at first you don't succeed, give up" or a play on words or on a situation. Search for exaggeration and understatements. Look at your talk and pick out a few words or sentences which you can turn about and inject with humor.
77.To make your humor work, you should ________.
A.ignore the differences among audience
B.make fun of the peculiarly-behaved people.
C.show great sympathy for your audience.
D.address different issues to different people.

A.punish students with repetitive tasks
B.pay attention to traffic regulations
C.value the importance of being on time
D.enjoy popularity among judges
79. It can be inferred from the text that public services ________.
A.have benefited many people.
B.are the focus of public attention.
C.are an inappropriate subject for humor.
D.have often been the laughing stock.
