On a sunny day, the people on the seashore heard a shout. They all ran to the sea. There they saw a man in the water calling for help. A young soldier was really a strong swimmer and soon pulled the man back to the shore. All the people there admired the soldier.
The man was saved. He dressed very well. Everybody could see that he was a rich man. After he could speak, the man thanked the soldier, and put a shilling into the soldier's hand. But the soldier refused to take the money. The people around him were all very angry with the rich man and they wanted to go away. But an old man laughed and said loudly, "I'm sure the rich man knows best how much his life is."

The maker, Heelarious, designed the shoes in four colours. They are pink, black and even leopard (豹皮色的) and zebra-skin prints.
They are being sold in Britain by 36-year-old Julia Taylor, who is the only person selling them in the UK.
Some mothers in the U.S.A thought they were not safe for babies to wear. But they changed their mind after the babies tried them on. "They are really soft and comfortable," said some mothers.
The mother, Mrs. Taylor, said that the shoes were very "American". She also sells this kind of shoes through her website called "Heels for Her". She believes that they can be well sold in the UK, too.
Peter and Mike are very good friends. They are in the same class at school. They often go to school and play t, and they often visit each other's home at weekends, too.
Now they are b eight years old. Peter's mother has got a new baby. Peter is very glad to have a little brother, so he is always talking about his younger brother to Mike.
At first Mike is very interested in the new baby because he doesn't have any sisters or brothers. But after some time he begins to get tired of Peter's endless talking about it. He also feels a little jealous (嫉妒) of his friend.
One morning before class, when the two boys m at the school gate, Peter says to Mike cheerfully, "Do you know, Mike, my little brother, has put on nearly half a pound in weight this week."
"That's not much at all," answers Mike. "I know a baby who can put on more than ten pounds a day."
"Oh, that can't be t," answers Peter. "W baby is it?"
"An elephant's," says Mike.
