    Many people say that they have seen flying saucers（飞碟） in the sky. 1 can these things be?

    Some people think that they are spaceships from other planets. Doctors 2 that perhaps they are only a weakness of the eyes. It is possible that they are our own planes 3 very high. Or are they birds with the sun's light on them?

    But some people say that they have seen them 4. They have seen beings（人） get off them and walk around. They have 5 to those beings, sometimes in English.     "Haibao, the mascot(吉祥物) of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, is very cute, "said Gu Hui, a school kid. "I want a big toy like the mascot."

    Haibao looks like the Chinese word ren, which means people or a person. The name, a typical lucky one in Chinese tradition comes from the Chinese phrase "Si Hai Zhi Bao" —the treasure of the four seas. It also means the treasure of Shanghai, which lies beside the sea.

    Haibao's blue curly(卷曲的) hair looks like the waves of the sea. Its smile is a sign of the healthy spirit of China. Those thumbs-up(翘拇指) will welcome millions of people to Shanghai from around the world. Its big feet show China has the ability to host a successful Expo.

    Haibao was created by two artists, one from the mainland(大陆) and the other from Taiwan. The design is about people living together in the city. The designers want it to fit the theme of the Shanghai Expo, that is, a good life should be created by all the people and people should have harmonious relationships(和谐关系) with nature and society, so that life in cities would be better.

    Surely the mascot will become the lucky symbol and cultural remark of Shanghai Expo.

    In China, people born in and after the 1980s are called the post-80s generation(一代人). Most of them come from single-child families. However, this generation is playing a more and more important part in China, and their image(形象) in people's minds is changing. Han Han, a popular youth writer, is one of them.

    Han Han was born in 1982 in Shanghai. His talent for writing was clear at an early age. When he was 17, he attracted the public's attention with the article Viewing the People throughthe Glass. The article won first prize in the national New Concept Composition Competition. Later, Han Han again surprised the public by leaving high school. "I didn't do well in Grade One of high school and failed to move up to the next grade. I tried my best to improve my studies, but failed, so I gave up. However, I am always learning, since learning and going to school are two different things," Han Han said.

    Han Han's first novel Three Folded Gates sold very well in China. Later the book was translated(翻译) into several languages and sold abroad.

    In the following years, Han Han wrote a lot of books. All of them were welcomed by the market. In 2006, he started blogging (写博客) and had great success. Today, Han Han's blog has become one of the honest blogs on the Internet.

    Look! There are thousands of people waiting to buy tickets home in the railway station. Each time when Spring Festival comes, buying tickets of train trip would be very hard. And things seem to be getting worse and worse, although we have greatly increased the mileage(总里程) of railway network and speeded up trains. Why? It's because too many people want to go back home to spend Spring Festival with their family. Many people become angry with the Ministry(部)of Railways. They wonder why it is hopeless for them to get the tickets from the railway station. Instead, they sometimes can only buy them from ticket scalpers at much higher price.

    The Ministry of Railways estimated(估计) that about 216 million passengers would travel by train during the 40-day peak period(高峰期) during the 2010 Spring Festival holiday. The number of travelers will be 8％higher than that of 2009. This problem even attracted the President Hu Jintao's attention. He wrote a note to Liu Zhijun, Minister of the Ministry of Railways, asking him to make sure of a "smooth and safe" transportation. Afterwards, officials from the Ministry of Railways said they would try their best not to let any ticket-buyers spend Spring Festival at the railway station.

    I'm Simon from America. I am twelve and I'm at Wllize junior School(初中). This month We have two school events(事件). One is an English party and one is a school trip. Next month, there will be five events.
