March, April and May are months full of festivals and events all over the world. Here are some wonderful festivals around the world that happen in spring.

SongKran--Thailand

Dates: 13th-15th, April

In Thailand, it's time to celebrate the coming monsoon season, which will bring the rain many people have been looking forward to. They celebrate it with a festival called Songkran, when people head out to the streets with water guns to spray(喷，洒）everyone who walks past. If you walk on the streets where the festival is celebrated, prepare to get soaked!

Naghol--Vanuatu

Dates: Every Saturday from April to May

Every year, villagers come together to celebrate the harvest of yams, an important part in the people's diet in Vanuatu. The festival is most famous for its "land diving ceremony". During the ceremony men and boys dive to the ground from high wooden towers with only two thin vines (藤条) attached to their ankles (脚踝). The divers' heads have to lightly touch the ground when they jump—something very dangerous if the vines are not measured properly.

Cherry Blossom Viewing —Japan

Dates: The cherry blossom season is different from year to year depending on the weather forecast.

The cherry blossom season has huge importance to the people of Japan, who celebrate the days when the flowers finally blossom. Only a few days later, the petals (花瓣) fall to the ground, like pink snowflakes. This is one of the most beautiful things to see. In Japan, almost everyone has picnics in the parks to view the flowers.

I suppose I will always remember my kind grand-mother as one of those rare individuals that always put others first and self last. There was no ego. No trying to make herself look better than someone else. She just always tried to do what was right and fair and it didn't matter who was involved. Whether you were the richest person in town or the poorest, it made no difference. You were no better than anyone else. She lived in a small town where everyone knew each other, both the good and the bad.

She was a real champion for those who couldn't speak for themselves or were mistreated or taken advantage of. She was a true servant at heart, always making sure that everyone else's needs were met before her own. In fact, she later became Mayor of her little town. I was so proud that my grandmother became the Mayor. She managed to improve the city's water supply and was able to have the County's first Nursing Home built in her city. Her natural abilities to serve others were just fulfilled even more as Mayor.

I have always been a rather picky eater. As a young child, she noticed that I loved spaghetti. I would eat only spaghetti and I wouldn't eat vegetables or anything else that was prepared. Rather than do what most adults would do as saying, "you eat what I prepared for you, or don't eat at all," she spoiled me and made spaghetti. In fact, every time we visited and ate with her, she prepared a special batch of spaghetti just for me. She remembered and she continued doing this up until the day she passed away. As I got older, I noticed that not only did she prepare spaghetti for me, but she prepared a special desert for someone else or a special vegetable for another. She wasn't happy until she knew she had pleased someone else.

I learned the real meaning of "it is more blessed to give than to receive".

Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new "species" of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name — phubbers (低头族).

Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight. In the short film, phubbers with various social identities bury themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie in front of a car accident site, and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events eventually leads to the destruction of the world.

Although the ending sounds overstated, the damage phubbing can bring is real. Your health is the first to bear the effect and result of it. "Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck," Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying. "the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching." Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.

But that's not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Qilu Evening News reported.

It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.

Magazine sales have generally been falling since the day the inventor of the Internet said, "Hey, why don't I invent the Internet?"

But the latest ABC figures, released this week, show that sales of certain titles are actually going up. News and current affairs magazines are becoming more popular—but celebrity (名人), gossip and fashion publications are still struggling.

"Gossip and celebrity news is rarely something that requires detailed analysis—so it's best suited to bite-sized (很少的) content on social media," says Ian Burrell, media columnist for The Drum. "Once it's out there, it's quickly shared and readers move on to the next star. No one wants to wait a week to read about it in a print magazine."

Fraser Nelson, editor of The Spectator, wrote this week: "There's now too much writing online, and in an era of fake news, where you get your analysis from has never been more important. As newspapers and magazines are finding out, if you can publish writing that is consistently better than what can be found online, people will pay."

But many editors are struggling to strike the right balance between physical and digital content. They are faced with the choice of either posting all their articles online for free so the magazine stays relevant, or charging readers money to protect the financial future of the brand.

As Burrell points out, most readers are hungry for a deeper understanding of the fast-moving changes in global news and politics rather than seeking to escape from it by burying their heads in celebrity gossip and entertainment stories.

Serious times call for serious journalism. While general-interest daily news has been turned into an almost universally available commodity (商品) by the Internet, specialist journalism is still a service people value and think they can't get elsewhere.

When it refers to the people who had helped to make the world a wonderful place, will you only think of famous scientists or great leaders. That is not all the facts. An act of kindness can bring a smile to a person's face even if only for a moment.

Give away your money. . For example, if you want to help hungry children, you can try to find an international organization that provides food for those in poor areas. Every cent you donate will mean a lot.

Help a stranger. Your small actions can brighten the day of others. Hold the door for someone whose hands are full. Help the blind cross the street. . The key is expecting nothing in return for your acts of kindness.

Care about those you know. Show the people close to you how much you care about them. Tell them they mean a lot to you. Make a beautiful gift for a friend. Take your husband to his favorite fun place if he has had a hard week. .

Be grateful to others. Have you had good service in a restaurant? Thank the waiter. Do you have a very good neighbor who is always there when you need her? Tell her how much you appreciate her being in your life.

. If a friend needs skill in a certain area, offer your advice. Perhaps she is struggling to set up a computer, and you know how to do that. Offer whatever ability you have, but always remember to be polite.

Every year, my parents and I pay visit to my grandparents in my hometown.
