When Jake went to the classroom, Nick snatched (抢夺) his pencil. But Jake just smiled and said "You can have it. This is my sister's. She likes pink but I don't." The kids laughed. But Nick didn't. He went red again!

At lunchtime, Jake went to play soccer. Jake could play soccer well. He could stop every ball. Jake kicked the ball to Nick and asked him to stop the ball, but Nick failed and slid over in the mud. The kids laughed but Jake didn't. Instead, he told Nick how to stop the ball very patiently. From then on, Jake showed Nick all he knew about soccer. He showed him how to hit the ball with his head and how to stop a fast ball.

After that, Nick and Jake were friends. Now, no one is afraid of Nick. Because Jake showed Nick how to be a friend.

While having meals, the main difference on the Chinese dinner table is chopsticks instead of a knife and fork, but that's only superficial (表面的) -Besides, in the more upscale (高级的) restaurants, you can always ask for a knife and fork, if you find the chopsticks unavailable. The real difference is that in the West, you have your own plate of food, while in China the dishes are placed on the table and everyone shares. If you are being treated to a formal dinner and particularly if the host thinks you're in the country for the first time, he will do the best to give you a taste of as many different types of dishes as possible.

The meal usually begins with a set of at least four cold dishes, to be followed by the main courses of hot meat and vegetable dishes. Soup then will be served (unless in Guangdong style restaurants) to be followed by staple food (主食) ranging from rice, noodles to dumplings. If you wish to have your rice to go with other dishes, you should say so beforehand提前) ,as most of the Chinese prefer to have the staple food at the end of the meal or have none of at all.

Perhaps one of the things that surprises Western visitors most is that some of the Chinese hosts like to put food onto the plates of their guests. At formal dinners, there are always "serving" chopsticks and spoons for this purpose, but some hosts may use their own chopsticks. This should be taken as a sign of true friendship and politeness.

It is always poise to eat the food. If you do not want to eat it, just leave the food on the plate.

People in China tend to over-order food, as it is embarrassing to the host if all the food is finished.

When you have had enough, just say no. Or you will find yourself always overeating!

①There are many different houses in the world. They can be different because people are different. The houses can also be different because of where they are. Houses can be made in many shapes.

② The dome house

Some people live in windy places. Big winds, like hurricanes, can blow houses down. In one place, a house was made in the shape of a dome. When a big hurricane came, it didn't blow down. However, all the other houses around it did. A dome house is made of triangle shapes. The shape of the dome house lets the wind go around it. A house with a flat wall is not as safe in a strong wind. A dome house doesn't have a roof to blow off. There is no wind in a dome house, so it is safer in a fire. It is safe from termites (白蚁) ,too. There is no wood for them to eat!

③A ball-shaped house

Some houses have been made in a shape like a ball. The walls, celing and floor are all one in a house with this shape. The wind moves around-the outside of the house. Ball-shaped houses can be hung from things or float on water.

A house on the ground can take up a lot of space. A house in a tree doesn't use any space on the ground at all. No trees have to be chopped down to make room for these houses. And the tree housed can be built in the shape of bee nest (巢) . Such a house doesn't take very long to move to a new place. So it is helpful during the natural disasters.

⑤ A walking house

Some people have made a house that can walk. It is the shape of a long hexagon. The house has six legs. It can walk over any ground. It can even walk over bumpy ground. When it walks, three legs are always on the ground. A walking house would be very good if there was a flood or a fire.

⑥ Different shapes of house are so useful that different people can choose whatever they need. Which one do you prefer? Probably you can create another different shape of house one day!
