Dear Mr. Wang, Someone comes to the office to see you in the morning, but you and your wife are out. He comes here at 10 am. Because he is very busy, he goes away half an hour later. He tells me that he is your classmate(同学) at college(大学). Now he teaches Chinese in a high school(高中) in this city and he lives near the No. 6 Middle School. He is a very tall man with short hair. If you go to Thailand, you'll see a very interesting vehicle(交通工具). It is like a three-wheeled(三轮的) motorbike. There is a cabin(舱室) for the driver in the front and two or three passengers(乘客) can sit at the back. When it starts(启动), it will make the sound "tuk, tuk." That's why it is called tuk-tuk.
In Thailand, tuk-tuks are everywhere in big cities like Bangkok. Why? Because they are very small, and they can go very quickly. We can also find tuk-tuks in China, Italy and some other places. One thing is very interesting, the German(德国)car maker,BMW, makes a funny-looking tuk- tuk.
How can you have a nice trip by tuk-tuk? Here are two tips. First, tell the driver where you are going, and talk about the price before you leave. If you don't do that, you may pay(支付) too much money for your trip, because tuk-tuks don't have the meters(计程表).Second, don't put your feet on the rail(横杆) behind the driver's head. It is not so good to the driver.
Remember the tips and you'll have a nice trip in Thailand.
There was once a wise old lady who lived on a hill. All the children used to go and ask her questions. She always gave them1answers.
There was a little boy among the children. One day he caught a little bird and held it in his hands without anybody seeing it. Suddenly he had an idea and asked his friends to2.
"Let's3the old lady," he said, "I'll ask her what I'm holding in my hands. Of course, she`ll answer that I have a bird. Then I'll ask her if the bird is alive or dead. If she says the bird is dead, then I'll4my hands and let the bird fly away. If she says the bird is alive, I'll quickly5it and show her the dead bird. Either way, she'll be6."
The children agreed this was a clever plan. So7the hill they all went to the lady's house.
"Granny, we have a8for you," they all shouted.
"What's in my hands?" the little boy asked
"Well, it must be a bird," the old lady replied
"But is it alive or dead?" the boy asked9.
All the boys10her answer and got ready to laugh at her The old lady thought for a moment and then replied, "It's up to you, my child. If you're kind enough, it'll be alive."
