宾语从句的连接词
一、当由陈述句充当宾语从句时，用that引导，that无词义，在口语或非正式文体中常省略。
例如：1. He told us that he felt ill. 他告诉我们他感觉不舒服。
2. I know he has returned.我知道他回来了。
3. He said that he could finish his work beforesupper.他说他会在晚饭前完成工作。
注意：（一）引导宾语从句的连词that通常可以省略。
例如：1. She said (that) she would come to the meeting.她说过要来开会的。
2. I hoped (that) I would / should succeed我曾希望我会成功。
（二）that在引导宾语从句时也并不是任何情况下都可以省略。在以下情况下，that不能省略。
1. and连接两个宾语从句，that宾语从句放在and的后面时，that不能省略。
例如：Everybody could see what happened and that Tom was frightened. 每个人都能看到发生了什么，汤姆很害怕。
2.that引导的宾语从句作介词宾语时，that不能省略。
例如：I know nothing about him except that he ifrom the south. 我对他一无所知，只知道他来自南方。
3.that从句位于句首时，that不可省略。
例如：That he ever said such a thing I simply don't believe. 我简直不相信他曾说过这样的话。/他说了我根本不相信的话。
二、当由一般疑问句充当宾语从句时，用if或whether引导，意为“是否”。主要用来引导一般疑问句意思或选择疑问句意思的宾语从句，从句同样是陈述语序。
例如：1. I wonder if /whether you have told the news toLi Lei. 我想知道你是否把这个消息告诉了李雷。
2. I don't know if / whether he still lives here after so many years. 我不知道这么多年后他是否还住在这儿。
注意：但在下列情况下只能用whether:
（一）在具有选择意义，又有or或or not时，尤其是直接与or not连用时，往往用whether （if…or not也可以使用）。
例如:1. Let me know whether / if he will come or not.=Let me know whether or not he will come.让我知道他是否能来。
2. I wonder whether we stay or whether we go.我不知道我们是去还是留。
（二）在介词之后用whether。
例如: 1. I'm interested in whether he likes English.我对他是否喜欢英语感兴趣。
2. We're thinking about whether we can finish the work ontime.我们正在考虑是否能按时完成这项工作。
（三）在不定式前用whether。
例如: 1.He hasn't decided whether to visit the old man.他尚未决定是否拜访那位老人.
2. I don't know whether to go.我不知去否。
（四）whether置于句首时，不能换用if。
例如：Whether this is true or not, I can't say. 这是否真的我说不上来。
（五）引导主语从句和表语从句时宜用whether。
例如:1. Whether she will come or not is still a question. 她是否能来还是个问题。
2. The question is whether we can catch the bus.
问题是我们能否赶上公共汽车。
（六）若用if会引起歧义时，则用whether。
例如: Please let me know if you like the book.可理解为：a. Please let me know whether you like the book.请告诉我你是否喜欢这本书。
b. If you like the book, please let me know.你如果喜欢这本书，请告诉我。
三、特殊疑问句转化成宾语从句时，引导词用特殊疑问词；引导词后要用陈述句语序。
例如：1. Could you tell me what's the matter withyou你能告诉我你怎么了吗？
2.Could you tell me why you were late for the meetingthis morning?你能告诉我今天早上你为什么开会迟到吗？
特殊情况：当do you think后接特殊疑问句转化成宾语从句时，句式结构应为引导词＋do you think＋陈述句语序。
四、连接代词引导    连接代词有who, whom, whose, what, which, whoever，whatever，whichever。
例如： I don't know who (whom)you mean.我不知道你指的是谁。
2. Please tell me which you like.告诉我你喜欢哪一个。
3.I'Il do whatever l can do.我将做我所能做的事。
4.You can take whichever  you like.你爱拿哪个就拿哪个吧。
五、连接副词引导    连接副词有where，when, how,why等。
例如：He asked why he had to go alone.他问他为什么必须一个人去。
2.You don't know when you are lucky.你不知道你什么时候走运。
3. I asked how he was getting on.我问他过得怎么样。
