(In 2017) China's government plans to create an economic zone(经济区)called the Xiongan New Area. And it hopes the zone will become a center for technology.

    Henri was born in Manitoba, Canada. He joined the Canadian Army on February 11, 1943 during the Second World War. At first, he was only told for "home service(国内服役)" unless he would like to go abroad. But Henri was a brave young man and he had a will to go abroad. Finally, he was against his family's wishes and went abroad.

    As part of his "home service", Henri was sent. To Kiska, Alaska to fight the Japanese. Once he returned from Kiska, he could ask for "abroad service". In the end, he got his wish in the spring of 1944 when he was sent to Europe. He went to the front in France on August 8, 1944.

    In Manitoba, Henri's father was proud of his son, but\ his mother was worried about him. To their joy, the Germans were running away. Some reports said that the war would be over before winter. But the Germans were not yet defeated (战败). Henri became one of many unlucky soldiers who were killed during this war. On August 28, 1944, just twenty days after he arrived in France, Henri was killed near Rouen, France.

Let's clean up the ocean together! We know it's important to have dreams. However, to make the dreams come true is not an easy thing. A young Dutch man  Bryan enjoys working hard to make his dreams come true.

Bryan was 16, he went diving (潜水) in Greece. He was shocked to see plastic bags than fish in the sea. Bryan made up mind to clean up the ocean. However, everyone told him that there was nothing he could do to plastic bags from going into the ocean. But young man didn't give up. He spent several months studying plastic pollution. Finally, he came up with a science project using floating barriers (漂浮的栅栏) tothe waste. That is to say, instead of using nets and ships to collect the plastic bags, the barriers can make the plastic bags come together the help of natural ocean currents (洋流) and wind. What's more, the collected plastic can be recycled and made into products or oil.

Bryan won prizes for the project, but that was not enough for him. He wanted to make it a reality. In 2013, he set up The Ocean Cleanup. Together with scientists, engineers and volunteers, the young man is working to clean up the ocean. This will help make our world a better place.

In Chinese culture, tigers are thought of as the king of all beasts (野兽). They symbolize (象征) power, energy, protection and so on. So you can see pictures of tigers on the walls to prevent bad luck.

Tigers have an important cultural meaning not just in China, but across Asia. As they usually live in Asia, for many people in the West they have become a cultural symbol of Eastern countries. For example, strong economies (经济) in the East——Singapore，Republic of Korea, China's Hong Kong and China's Taiwan—were called" The Four Asian Tigers".

Instead of tigers, lions are considered as the king of all beasts in the West. Brave warriors (战士) were given the name "the lion". In Europe, the animal is a national symbol for England, Norway, Spain, Belgium and 13 other countries. But in the West, tigers are also seen as a very powerful animal. In English, if you want someone to calm down, you can say to them, "easy tiger".

Tigers are also one of my favorite animals. I first learned about the beauty of tigers as a child, while watching Animal World. If you ask my mom, she'll tell you that my favourite toy was my toy tiger, which I still keep to this day. I love China's twelve animal years because they show the connection, understanding and respect (尊重) that humans can have for animals, As an animal lover, I feel so sad that they are in danger and I want to help protect them Just like the tiger is a symbol of protection in Chinese culture, we can only hope that in the Year of the Tiger more people can learn about tigers and help protect them completely.

When you look at the map of the Tengger Desert (腾格尔沙漠), you will see a "green wall" in the southwest. It prevents Wuwei City of Gansu Province from sandstorms. 

With an area of over 8,000 mu, the "green wall" was planted by Wang Tianchang and his family. They have done this great job for over 20 years. 

In his seventies now, Wang Tianchang is an ordinary farmer from Gansu Province. He and his family live in a small village close to the Tengger Desert. People there once suffered a lot from sandstorms for a long time. To protect the farms and houses and hold the sand back, Wang Tianchang decided to do something. In 1999, Wang planted his first plant in the desert and started his life of sand control. 

It is never easy to bring life on the desert. In the beginning, Wang had no experience with desert plants. The sand covered the holes he dug very soon. The wind rooted out the seedlings he planted even on the second day he had done. It was challenging, but he never gave up. 

His family helped him a lot, especially his son Wang Yinji. To plant more trees, the two of them even lived in the desert for about six years. They found grass to sleep on as their beds. 

Thanks to Wang's "green wall", Wuwei City sees much fewer sandstorms. Wang has brought back not only green to the desert but also hopes to the people there. He is our hero!

A subway is not just an important form of transport. It is also a window for other people to learn about local cultures.

Beijing, China

The Beijing Subway was opened in 1969 and is the oldest subway system in China. It has added some modern technologies. All stations now have touch-screen maps. In some stations, people can also see traditional Chinese cultures. For example, on the walls of a few stations of Line 8, there are some pictures of blue and white porcelain (青花瓷).

Stockholm, Sweden

The system of the Stockholm Subway has 100 stations in use, of which 47 are underground and 53 above ground. The first subway line for Stockholm was opened in 1950. The Stockholm Subway is well-known for its decoration of the stations. It is called the longest art gallery in the world. Over 90 percent of its stations are decorated with paintings. A few stations are decorated with red bedrocks (岩床). This makes you feel as if you are in a cave.

London, UK

The London Underground or the Tube is the oldest subway in the world. It was opened in 1863. During World War II, it was used to protect people from German plane attacks (袭击) on London. Now, it is a symbol of the city. There is no air conditioning in the trains, so it is very hot in summer.

New York, US

The New York City Subway runs 24 hours a day. It has an express(特快的) train on almost every line. You can get to your destination (目的地) quickly. The trains themselves are full of fun; you will see people doing moonwalk dances like Michael Jackson, playing the guitar and singing.

The world is our only home. Doing small things can make the world a better place. Here is some advice to you.

Give someone a book you once read. Once the person takes the book and finishes reading it, you can talk about the book with him.  They'll probably feel uncomfortable.

Say something nice to someone. Tell the person how much you like his job, new clothes, singing and so on.  Just let someone know that something he is doing works.

 Draw a picture or make a delicious cake for someone. Like giving someone a book, it tells the person that you are thinking about him and want to do something nice for him. Maybe the person will respond (回应), and maybe not. That's not important.  

Teaching someone how to do something. Share your talent with a person by showing him how to do something.  Have patience and respect the person.

Anything that shows people you care about them will make the world a better place. Don't wait and just do it now.

Three fish live in a pond(池塘). One evening, some fishermen walk past the1and see the fish. "There2some fish in the pond, " they say to each other happily. "we must3tomorrow morning and get these fish." Then the fishermen4away.

Chen Jinying who is called "Honest Lady" comes from Lishui, Zhejiang. She is 90 years old. She used to be a boss. After she retired(退休), she opened a clothes factory and it went very well. In 2011, her factory was in trouble and she was in debt(欠债), so she had to sell her apartment and her factory to pay back her debt.

After ten years, she finally paid back all her debt. It's said that someone advised her to apply for bankruptcy(申请破产), then she could avoid paying back her debt, but she refuse. "I can't do that. When we're in debt, we must pay it back." The old lady sold most of her things to pay back the debt because of this faith. Some businessmen were so touched by this "Honest Lady" that they reached out to help her. When things became better, she gave away jackets worth more than 20,000 yuan to an old people's home and more than 140 persons received the warmth she passed.
