People make themselves into winners by their own efforts (努力).
Many years ago, look the head 1 job at a school in Baxley, Georgia. It was a small school with a weak football program.
It was a tradition for the school's old team to play against the new team at the end of spring practice. The old team had no coach, and they didn't even practice to 2 the game. Being the coach of the new team, I was excited because I knew we were going to win, 3 to my disappointment we were beaten. I couldn't believe I had got into such a 4 . Thinking hard about it, I came to realize that my team might not be the number one team in Georigia, but they were depending on me. I had to change my attention about their ability and potential (潜力).
I started doing anything I could to help them build a little pride. Most importantly, I began to treat them like winners. That summer, when the other teams enjoyed 5 holidays, we meet every day and practiced passing and kicking the football.
Six months 6 suffering our defeat (挫败) on the spring practice field, we won our first game and our second, and continued to improve. Finally, we faced the number one team in the state. I felt that it would be a victory (胜利) for us even if (即使) we 7 the game. But that wasn't what happened. My boys beat the best team in Georgia and 8 me one of the greatest thrills (兴奋感) of my life!
From the experience I learnt a lot about how the attitude of the leader can affect the members of a team. Instead of seeing my boys as losers, I pushed and encouraged them. I helped them to see themselves 9, and they build themselves into winners.
Winners are made, not 10.
In almost every big university in the United States, football is a favorite sport. American football is not like soccer.
Players sometimes kick the ball, but they also throw the ball and run with it. They try to take it to the other end of the field; they have four chances to move the ball ten yards(码). They can carry it or throw it. If they move it to the end of the field, they receive six points. This is called a touch-down(持球急蝕地).
It's difficult to move the ball. Eleven men on the team try to stop the man who has the ball. If the man does not move the ball ten yards, his team kicks the ball to the other team.
Thousands of people come to watch. They all dance and jump while they yell. Each team plays ten or eleven games each season. The season begins in September and ends in November. If a team is very good, it may play another game after the season ends. The best teams play again on January the first. Many people go to see these games and many others watch them on TV.
Do you know there are two kinds of football games? In China many young men like playing soccer. It is very popular in China. But the Chinese don't call it soccer. There are eleven players in a Chinese football team. And the ball is round. Only the goalkeeper(守门员) can play the ball with hands.
In America, soccer is not very popular. There are also eleven players in a team. But the ball is not round. and the goal is bigger(更大)than the goal in soccer. American football is quite different from soccer.

As we all know, swimming is an all-body workout. It works small muscle(肌肉) groups that often get ignored in other workouts. As you move in the water, many small muscle groups are working to help you keep balance.
Meanwhile, swimming also has some downsides though. It is not a perfect sport without any risk of injury. For example, many types of swimming use repetitive arm movements. Over time, the repeated movements can cause shoulder and neck injuries.
However, when compared to the health benefits(益处), those downsides seem manageable to the swimming lovers. Coach Wass agrees, "You know, swimming can have some injuries from high repetition. But, in general, it's one of the safest and healthiest sports out there. "
Besides the great workout you can get from swimming, a woman called Paloma brings up another important benefit. It can help to keep you alive. She said, "My husband and I believe that swimming is a life skill. If it's a life and death situation, you can swim your way out of it. That's why I taught my daughter to learn swimming and wants her to do well in swimming. "
Paloma's daughter, Pryia knows that swimming is good for her body. But the reason she likes to swim is more basic. It's just fun.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has already come to an end, and Chinese athletes (运动员) have made great achievements. But how will the stadiums (场馆) be used after the Olympics?
The designers have already considered that question in their designs (设计). The plan is to let the stadiums serve common people and increase their interest in winter sports. Just as one of the designers of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics said, " The stadiums can not only serve professional athletes in the games, but also serve the public after the games. "
For example, the professional ice race lanes (车道) for athletes are 121 meters high and are not fit for amateurs. So the National Ski and Sleigh Center has kept a special lane for common sport-lovers. The height of the lane is about 40 meters. This can make sure they will stay safe.
The National Ski Jumping Center in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province will continue being open to the public for skiing in winter and jogging in summer. In fact, people can make use of the stadiums all year round. On the top of the center, people can walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is also a standard football field that can hold 6, 000 people. Even concerts and cultural fairs can be held there as well.
Time will tell whether the stadiums can be really made good use of after, the Olympic Games. In China, 300 million people have already taken part in ice and snow sports because of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Hopefully, that number will continue to rise with plans like these. After all, snow and ice sports belong not only to talented professional athletes, but also to everyone interested in them.
