Class Three had an interesting class meeting last week. Here is what four of the students said.

In 2050, China will be richer than it is now. Shanghai will prepare for the 40th Olympic Games in 2052. The sky will be bluer and clearer. The air will be fresher. There will be more pandas living happily in China. I believe that 2050 will be the year of China. |

A holiday to fly to the Moon won't be a dream. We can also fly to other planets and talk with aliens. We might also eat something like medicine pills (药丸) but not today's meals. Everyone will enjoy a more comfortable life. |

Robots will be very popular. They'll do what we don't want to do. We'll build new homes on other planets. By the 40th Olympic Games in 2052, I'll be fifty-two years old. And maybe we'll have an exciting talk with the people on Earth in my new home on another planet! |

By the year of 2050, cloning (克隆) will be used in many places. It will bring back animals in the past that we can't see now. The world will be one big family. We'll live a much easier and better life. |
Mason has seen the future—and it's fun. Mason likes thinking about how machines can make our life easier by doing the work we hate, such as cleaning. He shows a floor cleaning machine that's built into the wall. It can clean up the floor.
When it comes to the kitchen, Bruce, an expert at Whirlpool, is sure that in a few years, robots will be doing most of the boring work, freeing us to relax. "More than just fun, future kitchens will be environmentally friendly," he says. A new system will be built in the house which can recycle energy lost from your kitchen to make the whole home warm.
"The fridge will be the centre of the home," says Daniel, a market expert. The fridge will have a touch screen (触摸屏幕) where you can watch TV, surf the Internet, check your emails, keep a shopping list and order vegetables. "Your fridge is the first place you go to in the morning and the last place at night," says Daniel.
"I wonder why a 1.9-metre man and 1.6-metre woman have to cook meals on counters (柜台) of the same height," Jane Langmuir, an expert of cooking machines, says. "But times have changed. We have made a new counter where you can press a button and it moves to whatever height you want."
Ted Selker has made the dish maker which lets you make dishes and bowls out of plastics at home. After each meal, the dishes are changed straight back into plastics.
Scientists think that there has been life on earth for (million) of years. However, we haven't found life on other planets yet. The earth is a planet and it (go) around the sun. And there are seven other planets (请填恰当的关系代词/引导词) also go around the sun. The sun and its planets (call) the solar system. The solar system is a small part of the universe.
Scientists have launched many spaceships (explore) other planets in the solar system. Some spaceships (去) beyond the solar system. However, no one (discover) any life in space yet.
Why has no one from other planets (send) us a message? Have they tried to send information (给) us? With so many stars in space, are we (孤单),or is there life on other planets in space?
Art lovers around the world think about this question for so many years: why does Mona Lisa smile?
However, they can ask Mona Lisa herself in the show in Beijing. It brings the 500-year-old painting to life.
Now Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting (画) can move her head and wave (挥舞) her hand in 3D, and even answer questions. She can answer the questions about her life, her age and so on. But when she talks she doesn't speak Italian but Chinese like "Da jia hao, wo jiao Mengna Lisha. Hen gao xing jian dao ni men."
The new digital (数码的) picture of Mona Lisa is the center piece of the World Classic Interactive Arts Exhibition in Beijing. You can also see other world-famous paintings such as Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper. Last Supper is another picture that they made alive (活的) with 3D. In this picture, Jesus (耶稣) can walk and talk with his believers (信徒).
It took Wang Hui and over 400 digital artists in South Korea two years to make the picture, at a cost of about 50, 000, 000 yuan.
He says, "What's special about it is that it's the first time to use computer technology (技术) to make her speak and move."
So what does Mona Lisa say if you ask her: "Why are you smiling?"
Life in the future will be different from life today. Between then and now many changes will take place, but what will the changes be?
The population is growing fast. There will be many people in the world and they spend most of time doing sports, watching TV, traveling and surfing the Internet. Traveling will be much cheaper and easier. And more and more people will go to other countries for holidays.
There will be changes in our food, too. More land will be used for(将被用来)building new towns and houses for all people. Then there will be less room for cows and sheep, so meat will be more expensive. Maybe no one will eat it every day. Instead, they will eat more fruit and vegetables. Maybe people will be healthier.
Work in the future will be different, too. Dangerous and hard work will be done by robots. Because of this, many people will not have enough work to do. That will be a new problem.
Cars, undoubtedly, are one of the most important transportation tools today. They have had a huge influence on our daily lives. In my opinion, when it comes to the future of the automobile industry, there are three challenges: accidents, traffic jams and pollution.
The first two challenges can be solved by artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things. These two technologies will make self-driving cars a reality. Cars will drive themselves to their destinations automatically. Thanks to the IT, cars, traffic lights and even pedestrians will be connected with each other. Traffic information will be transmitted in real time. For example, if there is roadwork ahead, the AI system will tell the car to change its planned route. This way, traffic jams can be avoided. There will also be fewer accidents caused by careless drivers.
The last challenge, pollution, can be solved by exploring new sources of energy. Electric cars are much cleaner than petrol cars. In recent years, electric cars have already become more and more popular. Many people have been driving electric cars. However, new problems, such as pollution caused by old batteries, have been arising. How can we solve these problems? It's high time we thought about that.
There is still a long way for us to go. I believe that with our combined efforts, newer and more reliable technologies will appear. They will help create a brighter future for road transportation.
Imagine 50 years from now. Imagine the perfect school.
Getting to school is already difficult because of traffic. In 50 year' s time, it will be even more difficult. A solution is needed. Imagine there is a big cyber﹣school, but the classes are in many different places, both in the suburbs and the city. You would never need to walk more than 10 minutes to get to school.
Once you get there, there is no teacher speaking at the front of the class. Instead there is a large screen playing a video of the teacher. There is a classroom helper who walks around helping you with your problems. You can get the best teaching there, and you have a helper who can help you understand your work. You listen to the teacher for only 15 minutes. Then you work in teams to do group projects and solve problems together.
The days of pen and paper are gone. You each have your own computer and you do all your work and tasks on it. After classes finish, you can stay there and talk with your school friends.
You each have a lover to keep your personal things. There is a fridge to keep your lunch and a microwave to warm it. There are sofas to sit on when it's time to read a book.
Your class would always be cool in summer and warm in winter. There is solar and wind power on the roof of the building. Each room is kept at a comfortable temperature automatically.
The school of the future is high﹣tech, but it is a friendly place to bel.
When you're not at home, many worries may start to fill your mind. Did I turn off TV? Did I close the door? With a smart (智能的) home, you can keep all of these worries off.
A smart home is a home with a network (网络). This network connects many things in our houses, such as our lights and TV sets, and allows controlling everything in your home from far away through your mobile phone over the Internet.
More and more people may start to get a smart home, because it makes life much easier. It can help you know what happens inside the home and send the video to your phone. When you are on holiday abroad, you can use a smart home app to turn on or off the lights, the fridge and so on. Some smart homes can even feed the cat and water the flowers.
Besides, smart homes are easy to fix and people can use the instruction to build the smart homes. When something wrong appears, you can only use the instruction to deal with it yourself without paying anybody.
But for home— users, the smart home can be quite expensive to get. Also, because the smart home system (系统) allow its owner to get home information from anywhere, it is easy for bad people to secretly use or change the information in the system.
Now, many scientists are excited at the future of smart home. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure— the smart home will change the way we live and work.

When you get into an elevator (电梯), there is a button (按钮) inside. After you press the button, the elevator then takes you to outer space. Does this sound like something from a science fiction film? In fact, it might become 1 in the future.
Scientists hope 2 the space elevator by 2050. The elevator has a strong cable(缆绳). The cable connects the elevator to the Space Station. The elevator goes up and down along the cable. The elevator might look like an egg. It can take 30 people. The trip is about 36,000 km. It may 3 eight days to get to space.
People can only fly rockets into space right now. But they are expensive. A space elevator would be cheaper. It can do more than just take people into space. The elevator can 4 send heavy things into space. A space elevator could make 5 easier to go into space.
It's 2050. The Earth is dying, and moving to Mars seems to be the only way out for humans. A team of American astronauts (宇航员) begin to search on Mars. This is what the movie Red Planet begins with. Known as the Red Planet, Mars is the favourite of writers and filmmakers.
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the next planet beyond the Earth. Mars is the only planet whose surface can be seen from the Earth. It is about half size of our planet.
The surface of Mars is more like the Earth than any other planet. But it is further from the Sun than the Earth, so temperatures on Mars are much lower. Plants and animals can not live now on Mars. But many scientists still believe that such life may have been on Mars long ago.
On 6th August, 1996, scientists discovered a piece of rock from Mars, which fell to the Earth 13, 000 years ago. 10 years later, some scientists still didn't accept that there was life on Mars. People may not be sure about life on Mars until a sample (样本) of life is brought back. Some further researches are being done in many countries. I think life in the future is quite different from now. For example, 20 years, people won't use paper money anymore, because will be free. As for education, kids won't go to school. They will study at on computers. Every family will have robots. They'll talk people and make them happy. They also help people do all housework. Thanks to the robots, people will have more free time, so families will time staying together every day. The life in the future won't be the as it is today. To protect our world, we should use fresh water, and we need to more trees. I believe the future world will be a place to live in.
What will the house of the future look like? Could it have gardens on its walls, or a pool with fish for dinner? Architects(建筑师) believe that they are all possibilities. The only thing for sure is that the houses will be as green as possible.
The tree house
Many architects in the world would like to build a "tree house." Like a leaf, the surface of the houses collects sunlight during the day. The energy can be used to heat water, produce electricity, and even create fresh air for the home. The "roof"(根) of the house is deep under the ground. It uses the soil (土壤)to the home's temperature.
The Lizard house
Like a lizard (蜥蜴), changing color with the weather is the most important design of a lizard house. When it's in the bright sun,the cover of the house will turn dark to protect it from strong heat. During dark days, it turns white and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.
Meals at home
This design is perhaps as much about the future of food production as architecture(建筑风格).It has gardens on the outside wall of the house. People can plant tomatoes, carrots and green tea on them. So every day in the morning, you just need to walk outside and collect your meals.
Learning from the past
Looking to the future isn't the only way to be green, Sometimes, ancient techniques(古老的技术) can also help cut down energy use. For example, a chimney (烟囱) can be a useful condition because it is easier for hot air to flow out the chimney.
What job did you dream of when you were a kid? There are a number of jobs that kids want to take. Here are three kinds of kids' dream jobs.
Actor
When kids watch TV or a movie, they often dream of becoming famous actors on the screen. In fact, many actors are not famous and only a few of them can be successful. These actors may work in televisions, films, theaters and so on. Actors do not often work every day and they usually get paid by the acting.
Athlete (运动员)
Many kids hope to become professional (专业的)athletes so that they can play their favorite sports and make a living. Becoming a professional athlete takes a lot of work. Athletes practice for long hours a day with their teammates and trainers (队友和训练员).
Doctors
Some children want to become doctors in order to help others.
Though doctors can make much money, the road to becoming a doctor is hard — a doctor needs to study for at least five years at a college, three years at a medical (医药的) school, and three to eight years of residency (实习期).
What will life be like in the year 2080? No one knows, but it is fun to have a guess.
Let's make a story about you in the year 2080. Our story will be about only one day. You wake up at seven in the morning. You get dressed. Guess what the clothes are made of? Paper? Glass? Or something we don't even know about today?
The breakfast needn't be prepared. Why? The food will be ready for eating. Now you go to work, but you don't go by car. You step onto a moving sidewalk(人行道). It takes you to a train station. There you take a special train. How will it run? On the rail over the street? Or in the air? Three o'clock comes. Your work is over for the day. "I'll call John, a friend of mine, " you say.
John answers the videophone(可视电话). You and he can hear and see each other
"What shall we do this Saturday?" you ask. "Shall we put on our robot belts and take a short trip? Or shall we go for a ride in a flying boat?"
John may say, "I want to ride in a spaceship! Let's fly to the moon !"

What will the world be like in the future? In my opinion, a lot of what we see in science fiction films will true.
I think there will be flying cars parking on of buildings for people. If this happens, there won't be any more traffic jams! I believe that houses will be green, as we'll only use the energy wind and solar power(太阳能). In the future, I think robots will do most of our , so life will be .There will be robot teachers, too. Children will laptops(笔记本电脑) to school instead of books. No one really knows the future holds for our life on earth. All we need to do is to believe in . After all, as Albert Einstein once said, “I never think of the future. It comes enough.”
Do you know about AlphaGo? It is an AI (人工智能) robot. It always wins in a go (围棋) match, In the future, there will be more AI robots like AlphaGo.______
Well, I'm a basketball fan and I'm good at it. If there is an AI basketball robot, I'd like to play with it.
—Li Bing
I will say no. I like playing tennis after school. If an AI tennis robot always wins, I think I will not like playing tennis.
—Lu Tao
Well, yes. My father is a good football player, but he's often too busy to teach me. I hope to learn football from an AI football robot.
—Gao Xin
Yes. AI makes our life easy and fun. I hope there will be an AI table tennis robot at my home. Then I can play the ball game with it every day.
—Li Lei
Do you often think of life in the future? Will we have robots? Will we fly to the moon easily? Everyone may have his or her ideas about that. Between then and now many changes(变化) will happen, but what will the changes be?
Maybe no one will eat meat. People will eat more fruit and vegetables.
People will stay away from junk food. Maybe people will be healthier.
Maybe we will even put the computer into our pockets. There will be at least two computers in every home. And computer study will be one of the most important subjects at school.
Work in the future will be different too. Robots will do all the dangerous and hard work.
And they will have more free time for sports, watching TV and traveling.
|
A. Life in the future will be very different from life today. B. People will feel safe and relaxed. C. Computer will be small and useful. D. Will we study at home? There will be changes in our food. |

"Hello, everyone! Welcome to Tiangong Class." With this greeting, a special lecture began on Tiangong space station about 400 kilometers above Earth on Dec 9, 2021. The space lecture lasted for about an hour. Three astronauts from the Shenzhou XIII - Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu, hosted the lecture, introducing how they lived and worked on the space station.
This is the second live space lecture in China. In 2013, Wang delivered the country's first live space lecture to over 60 million schoolchildren across China. Compared with the one eight years ago, this year's space lecture is greatly different.
More space to teach
The "classroom" is bigger. Instead of Tiangong Ⅰ experimental module(舱), this year Wang delivered the space lecture in the Tianhe space core module, which is the biggest spacecraft developed by China.
Technological development
The quality of space to ground communication is also much improved. The first lecture sometimes faced the challenges of the video freezing and an unclear picture. With the help of China's Tianlian relay satellites, this year the transmission(传输)speed has been highly increased and the whole live broadcast has run smoothly.
More subjects
Along with the technological progress, this year's space lecture discussed more subjects. Eight years ago, Wang showed students the laws of physics and focused on something about weightlessness in space. But this year, biology was added. The astronauts compared the growth and shape of cells in artificial(人工的)gravity and zero gravity, so as to study their changing rules and mechanisms.
Though these space lectures showed different topics, the aim behind them has never changed. It is to spread knowledge about manned spaceflights and arouse interest for science among young people.
The future is unknown, and no one can predict it. What will you do in the future?
|
Lisa |
I'll try to learn as much as I can although I don't know what I will do in the future. |

A serious problem is that I feel bored time and time again. I began working in July. I hate having nothing important to do every day. I'm tired of it, so I want to get another job. |

I live and study happily now, and that is my future. I do not care about tomorrow. I will enjoy the time I have now. |

Put your heart into what you can do the best today, and make your plans for tomorrow. Then try as hard as you can. 1 don't know what 1 will be in the future, but I know what I want to be. |

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery (瞇). Today is a gift, so that's why we call it the present. |
Technology is developing fast and it has become an important part of our life. Then what will the world be like in the future?
3-D food will be both delicious and nutritious (有营养的). We can use 3-D printers to print some basic materials. ① And we can go further. Scientists believe that we just need to turn on a printer in the kitchen and then we can enjoy our favourite food whenever we like.
② 5G network will allow many more people to get information. Big companies like China Mobile and China
Unicom will start to offer 5G. It is said that 5G promises download speeds 10 to 20 times faster than 4G. For example, we can download a film within just 1 second. But with a 4G network, it takes a few minutes. There will be much bandwidth (带宽) and we can get unlimited (无限的) information.
Underwater cities will provide more space. The earth is becoming more and more crowded. We may turn to underwater homes, which will be built as low as 15 kilometers below the sea. And the different temperatures at the different depths (深度) of the sea can be used to provide power for the homes.
③ For us common people on the earth, the dream of travelling around space will come true. In the coming years, spacecraft will be as popular as buses, trains and planes. We can leave our home and enter space to take an adventure. And even we will get used to living there.
A robot will be a part of life. Robots can do many of the same things as we humans do like driving cars. But they will be used in other areas as well. They will be able to think. They can tell the difference between right and wrong. They can feel sadness or joy. When we are lonely, they can have a talk with us like real friends.
④ In a word, just as Jules Verne said, "Anything one man can imagine, other men can make real."
