    Sam's dad told camping stories all through dinner. "Once I saw a snake outside my tent. Did I tell you about that?" Sam shook his head and tried not to look impatient. In fact, he really wanted to get out to the tent in the backyard (后院). His friend, Kent would go there.

Miss Dinsmore lived (单独地) in a little gray house. "It's a nice little house，" she said. "But I wish it looked more cheerful. Maybe I should paint it a (明亮的), pretty color." So she went to a  paint store. She saw lots of cheerful colors there, but she didn't know which color to choose.

    When the Prince came back from hunting, Gelert ran out to meet his master. He wagged his tail and jumped up to put his paws on the Prince's chest. Then the Prince saw the blood on Gelert's jaws and head.

    "What have you done?" the Prince said. He rushed into his house and looked for his baby son.

    The cradle was lying on its side on the floor. The clothes were torn and there was blood on them.

    "So you have killed my son?" the Prince said angrily. "You unfaithful dog!" He took out his sword and killed the dog. Just as Gelert was dying, he managed to bark. Then the Prince heard a baby crying.

    The Prince ran out of the house and saw his son lying on the ground unhurt. Near him was a dead wolf. Then the Prince knew that Gelert had defended the baby and killed the wolf.

    The Prince ran back into the house but it was too late. Gelert was dead. The Prince was very sad indeed. Tears ran down his face when he realized he had killed his faithful friend. The Prince carried the body of his brave dog to the top of a mountain and buried him there. After this, the Prince never smiled again. Every morning at dawn, he walked up the mountain and stood by the dog's grave for a few minutes.

    If you go to Mount Snowdon in Wales, people will show you where Gelert is buried. There is a sign by his grave. It reminds people of a brave and faithful dog.

A man went to see a doctor.

"Open your mouth." the doctor said.

The man opened his mouth and the doctor looked in quickly.

"It's clear what's wrong with you. You need more exercise." the doctor said.

"But doctor" the man said." I don't think so."

"Don't tell me what you think" the doctor said." I am the doctor, not you. I know what you need, I see hundreds of people like you. None of them get any exercise. 2021 is the year of the ox (牛). In March, a set of stamps about the famous Tang Dynasty painting, Five Oxen, came out. It allows more people to know better the great art of ancient China, as well as the importance of agriculture (农业) in history.

Han Huang (723-787) was the painter of Five Oxen. He worked as a government official in the Tang Dynasty. His paintings were loved by many because the animals he painted were so alive. Unluckily, Five Oxen is probably his only painting left.

Five Oxen is one of the best animal paintings in China's art history. In the painting, the five oxen are in a line. They are of different colors and shapes. And each has a different appearance (形态), walking or standing, holding their heads high or low. With lively expressions and bright eyes, the oxen show the spirit of doing hard work without complaints (抱怨). As the name suggests, ___▲__. It makes people focus (关注)on the oxen themselves.

The painting was missing in 1900. Luckily, it returned to China during the early 1950s. However, it was terribly broken with many holes in it. Great efforts were made to save it. Now Five Oxen, probably the oldest Chinese painting on paper, is kept with care in the Palace Museum in Beijing.

    At about 1:00 o'clock in the morning, I was hanging out with three friends. Early today, the body of a 25-year-old man John Miller was found in West Town. The police found that John was a computer engineer. He was last seen leaving his office in East Town at about 7 p.m. yesterday. He said he was going to visit his parents.

The police believe that the murder (谋杀案) took place between 9 p.m. last night and 1 a.m. this morning. They are still working at the scene of the crime to find out whether John was killed somewhere else and then brought to West Town, or killed at the place where he was found.
