China will cut the number of climbers trying to climb Mount Qomolangma from the north this year as part of plans for the clean-up on the world's highest mountains. The clean-up activity will include moving away the bodies of climbers who died at more than 8,000 metres up the mountain.
The total number of climbers trying to reach the top of the world's highest mountain from the north will be controlled to less than 300. The climbing season will be controlled to spring.
Parts of Qomolangma are in China and Nepal (尼迫尔). Each year, around 60,000 climbers and guides visit the Chinese north side of the mountain, but few actually try to climb it. China has set up stations to sort (分类), recycle and break down rubbish from the mountain, which includes cans, plastic bags, tents and oxygen tanks (氧气瓶).
On the Nepalese side, mountaineering trip organizers have begun sending huge rubbish bags to climbers during the spring climbing season. They should collect rubbish that then can be carried by helicopters back to the base camp.
Every year there are many victims on Qomolangma often in the"death area" above 8,000 metre where the air is the thinnest. In 2017. 648 people reached the top of Qomolangma. Six people have died on the mountain that year, one of whom on the north side.
Qomolangma has become the world's highest rubbish dump (垃圾场). Meanwhile, melting(融化) ice caused by global warming is exposing (暴露) rubbish that has been left on the mountain since Edmund Hillary and Tenzing, Norgay made the first successful climbing 67 years ago.
The Youth Climate Summit (气候峰会) a week-long festival of climate action for primary and middle schools in the UK, starts on 9 November. It aims to create a fairer, more environmental world and make promises that will help the planet. Climate change is the long-term changes in the world's weather patterns that are mostly caused by human activity. "Unlike world leaders, "say the summit's organizers. "young people are refusing to let it drop off the plan. "
Each day has a topic, which includes food and fashion, looking at how humans harm the environment and how to save the planet. Organizations are leading some on line activities. For example, the Marine Conservation Society is hosting meetings on protecting sea fish. Separately, the environmental organization Greenpeace is running a workshop on how to turn worn-out clothing into something new and wearable.
The summit will finish on 13 November, when youth ambassadors (大使) wants schools to stop paper waste. Max, another 16-year-old ambassador wants schools to organize more trips and activities that get students outside to experience the beauty of nature. As part of the summit, hundreds of schools across the country are signing up to the Let's Go Zero activity, aiming to become carbon-zero (零碳的) by 2030.
Carbon-zero schools are ones that promise to stop emitting carbon in seven areas, including where they get their food and how they use water and recycle their waste. The activity is run by Ashden, a charity working towards climate solutions. Ashden hopes that schools will be able to help each other by sharing ideas and methods. It is also calling on the Government to back the promise. Head over to transform-our-world. org where you can find out more.

It is said that the eyes are the windows to our soul(灵魂). Your eyes need everyday attention.
First, you have to pay more attention to your diet. It's good for your eyes. Also, a regular amount of vitamins(维生素) A and B2 should also be taken.
Second, you must have regular and sound sleep(酣睡). This relaxes the eye muscles and gives them the rest they need. Sleep can help the body repair its tired tissue(组织). Less sleep can give you dark circles under your eyes and you may feel sleepy during the daytime.
Blink(眨眼) your eyes at regular periods to keep your eyes moist(湿润). Besides, be sure to do some eye exercises to relax your eyes after you study for a long period of time.
Last, you should treat your eyes correctly. For example, if you get something in your eye, don't start rubbing(揉) it. Rubbing is harmful to your eyes. Don't read or write in poor or bright light because it can cause eye tiredness. Too much reading, writing, watching TV or working on a computer can also cause eye tiredness, so rest is required.
China has also taken steps to protect the students' eyesight, such as larger printing in students' textbooks, at least two hours' outdoor activities a day, regular eyesight checking, less time on e-books and so on.

A group of classmates got together to visit their old teacher.
These classmates all had good jobs and made lot of money. They talked happily. Then their talk soon turned to the 1in work and life. The teacher went to the kitchen and came back with a large pot of coffee and 2cups. The teacher told them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the teacher said, "Can you notice that all of you took nice-looking expensive cups, leaving behind the plain(平常的) and cheap ones? You 3want the best for yourselves, and that is exactly the source (根源) of your problems."
"What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you went for the best cups and then began 4each other's cups."
"Now think about this: life is the coffee, and the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold, and do not change the life. Sometimes, by caring only about the cups, we5to enjoy the coffee. So don't let the cups drive you, and enjoy the coffee instead."
In Chinese lunar calendar, there are 24 solar terms (节气) in a year. Start of Summer means the coming of a new season—summer. And it begins on May 5th this year. The temperature rises quickly during this time. Here are three things about how Chinese greet the Start of Summer.
Checking one's weight
The habit of weighing people at the Start of Summer is still popular in some places of China today. It's said that this practice will bring health and good luck to the people weighed.
Eating eggs
In the old days, Chinese people believed a round egg was a symbol of a happy life and eating eggs on the day of Start of Summer was a good wish for good health. People put tea into the boiling water together with eggs to make "tea eggs". Today it has become a local snack in many places of China.
Taking care of the heart
According to the Chinese traditional medicine, Start of Summer is a key time to protect the heart. When it grows hot, heat can affect health. So people prefer food such as fruit and vegetables.
The tiger is a (象征) of Eastern culture in the eyes of some Westerners. Chinese people are celebrating the Year of the Tiger(开心) now.
Do you know anyone born in the Year of the Tiger? What are they like? Are they(勇敢) and strong? If so, then they are a typical "tiger". In Chinese culture, tigers(认为) as the king of all animals. So that's why in China you can see pictures of tigers on the(墙)of temples and houses.
Tigers have important cultural meanings not just in China, but across Asia. For example, strong economies in the East — Singapore, South Korea, China's Hong Kong and Taiwan — were called" The(四)Asian Tigers". Some years ago, the Canadian writer Yann Martel(选择) a Bengal tiger as the partner for Indian boy Pi on his survival adventure in the Pacific Ocean in the book Life of Pi. The tiger(它本身) just has special meanings. (相反、代替) of tigers, lions are the king of all animals in the West. Brave soldiers have the name "the lion". Just like tigers serve as a symbol of protection in Chinese culture, we can only hope that in the Year of the Tiger more people can learn about tigers and try(保护) them.
Do you know the Tantou New Year Picture (滩头年画)? It's a famous traditional art form in Shaoyang. It is used for the Spring Festival.
The Tantou New Year Picture appeared in the Tang Dynasty first. And it has a long history—more than 1,300 years. Since the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Tantou New Year Picture has got its special features— bright colors, old and exaggerated images(夸张的图像), common materials and special skills. There are more than 20 steps to make the Tantou New Year Picture. All these steps, from making paper by hand to producing the New Year Picture, are finished in one place. This is not usual in our country.
In 1994, the Tantou New Year Picture won the silver medal at the folk arts fair. However, fewer people know the skills well now and most young people are not interested in it. The Tantou New Year Picture is in danger of disappearing in the world. Luckily, the government has taken action to protect and save it.

Last month I went to Peru with my mom and dad. My mom's company sent her there on business. It was great! We flew into Cusco. One weekend we visited Machu Picchu by car.
What is Machu Picchu? Well, it is the remains of an ancient Inca city. It is on the top of a mountain that overlooks the Urubamba River. It is more than 7,000 feet above sea level!
How did we get up that high? We could have hiked the Inca Trail(印加古道)for four days. Instead we decide to take the train. It runs right along the river. It takes only a few hours. Our guide was a man from the local area. Not only did he provide information about the area, but he worked as our interpreter. Some of the people of Peru speak Quechua, which of course we didn't understand.
As we took the train, our guide pointed out unknown plants that grew in the rain forest. The plants which grew near the floor of the rain forest, were so thick that I could hardly imagine trying to get through it back in 1911. That was when Hiram Bingham, started his expedition(探险). We also learned about the animals. There are some dangerous snakes that live there. One bite can kill a person.
His trip was well worth it, in my opinion. Machu Picchu was so big and beautiful! There were terraces(梯田)cut into the sides of the mountain, and green was everywhere. We saw where the people lived and where they farmed. The trip is great!
a. Arrived in Cusco. b. Got up to Machu Picchu.
c. Learned about animals. d. Got to know some plants.
One of the most powerful tools you can use to make your reading comprehension better is mind mapping. It is possible to create maps by simply using a pen and paper.
The first step is to draw a circle or box at the center of the page. Inside your shape write down the main idea that your mind map will focus upon. For example, if you were creating a mind map about the geography of the United States, then you would write down "the geography of the United States" in the middle of your page inside your circle.
Next you draw branches from your central idea. Much like a tree grows branches. Simply draw a line moving away from the central theme. In the case of the geography of the United States, you would probably draw 50 lines. Each line represents one of 50 state. These are the main categories (分类) with your primary concept (概念).
Each of lines can then have branches off of each. These would represent the main example under each category. For example, under the line titled, "Texas," you would find lines called Austin, Houston, and Dallas, you might draw a series of lines to represent some of its main sections like "South Dallas" and "Highland Park".
You continue to draw your mind map much like the structure of branches on a tree. Mind map helps make your comprehension of better because they enable you to quickly see relationships between main ideas, categories, examples, and details that might otherwise be missed if you use more traditional note taking strategies (策略).

They can do their homework, download(下载) some information for their homework, download music, send email and play games. Most of them spend too much time playing games, so it's bad for their study.
