To be thankful is a powerful way to turn around your thinking. Being thankful will always allow a person to see what is good or even great about their situation instead of feeling sad. So, it is important to teach children about the power of being thankful.
First, help your children to notice and be thankful for all the fun things that life has offered. Point out the beauty of the nature from the birdsong and the trees to the high mountains and rivers of your country.
Second, thank your children when they do something kind or other good. Parents should be a model by showing their thanks for small kindness. Thank your friends, husband, wife or other people in front of your children. That will make them keep doing good things.
Third, tell your children that they have the power to turn bad things into happiness simply by paying attention to the bright side. When they complain about (抱怨) the windy or rainy days, help them to be thankful for what they have. They are in a safe and comfortable environment away from the rain. They are able to do many fun things, such as reading books, watching a movie, drawing pictures and playing with friends.
Last but not least, tell them often that money doesn't buy happiness, but their thankful attitude (态度) does. They will be happy if they choose to be thankful.

We did a survey about unpaid work among 300, 000 married couples in our city. One third of them have no children, another third have one or two and the last third have three or more. The unpaid work includes childcare and housework. The diagram (图表) on the right shows the result of the survey.

ln the morning , we milked cows and (feed)chickens first. Then we rode horses. The horses ran a little fast. The guide was worried, so he made the horses slow down. We talked and laughed. We also (hear) the birds singing. It was excellent.
At noon, we had lunch on the farm. The food wasn't expensive delicious. It was really cheap.
In the afternoon, the farmer showed us the farming museum near a fire station. There were many lovely farming tools in the museum. We were (interest) in everything in the museum. At 4:00 p. m. ,we started to help the farmers pick apples. They (give) us some apples as gifts. We invited them to visit our school. When we got back, it was dark. We were tired but happy. All all, we had a wonderful time. Did you do anything interesting and go anywhere else?

Last weekend, I went to France(法国) for the first time. I had a trip in Sete, a small seaside town in the south of France. I went with a French friend and I stayed with her family. The sky was blue and the sun was shining.
When I was there, my friend took me to the cinema. I loved going to the cinema at home in England, but I had been in France for three months and I went to the cinema for the first time. I was worried because I was afraid that I couldn't understand(理解)the film. It was a very small cinema with just three small rooms. It looked nothing like the cinema in my hometown. We chose to watch a Disney movie because the story was easy to follow.
I was surprised to find that I understood almost everything. However, it was a little difficult to know every word of the songs, but I understood the feelings and the stories behind them, so it wasn't too bad. I recommend watching a film in a foreign(外国的)language because it shows you how well you learn the language. I have no reason to be nervous, and now I think I will watch more movies in the local cinema of the French town.
①The writer's friend took the writer to the cinema.
②The writer loved going to the cinema.
③The writer was worried that she couldn't understand the film.
④The writer arrived in France.
Accidents happen almost every day. Some accidents are not serious but some are.
It is wrong of people to think that accidents happen only on the roads or highways, or even in the workplace. Home accidents are just as common. Because very few home accidents are reported, people come to think that there are few accidents which happen in their homes.
There are many cases where people fall to their deaths from highrise flats. Children often fall over while coming down the stairs. Old people may slip( 滑倒) on wet floors if they are not careful.
Nowadays, there are a lot of modern electrical appliances, for example rice cookers. These appliances can kill people if they are not used in the proper way. Gas
stoves(煤气灶) are also dangerous if they are not properly used. They may cause burns or, in more serious cases, even fires.
But all such accidents can be stopped if we are careful and follow simple rules of safety. For example, it is unwise of people to try repairing their own electrical appliances if they do not know how to do them. It is safer to get them repaired by an electrician(电工).
It was Mother's Day, but the young mother was a little unhappy, because she was 800 miles away from her parents. In the morning she phoned her mother to wish her a happy Mother5 s Day, and her mother told her about the beautiful lilacs in the garden.
Later that day, When she told her husband about the lilacs, he said," I know where we can find all that you want. Get the children and come on. So they went out, driving down the country roads.
There on a small hill, they saw a lot of beautiful purple lilacs. The young woman ran quickly to enjoy the flowers. Carefully, she picked a few here and a few there. On their way home there was a smile on her face.
When they were passing a nursing home, the young woman saw an old granny sitting in a chair. She had no children with her. They stopped the car and the young woman walked to the old woman, put the flowers in her hands and smiled at her. The old granny thanked her again and again. She smiled happily, too.
When the young mother came back to her car, her children asked her, "Who is that old granny? Why did you give our flowers to her?"
T don't know her," she said. "But it's Mother's Day, and she has no children. I have all of you, and I still have my mother. Just think how much those flowers mean to her,"

Sometimes what we write online may have bad results we don't expected. A few years ago, a girl's birthday party turned into a nightmare (噩梦). Fifteen-year-old Cathy posted her address (地址) and an invitation to her birthday party online. When her parents got back from the cinema that evening, they couldn't believe their eyes. There were 500 people at the party, and some of them were even breaking windows, making a mess of the house.
Most teens think they know everything about social media and things like this could never happen to them. A study shows more than many young people have got into trouble because of their online activities.
Here are some important tips. They will help you to be safer online.
RULE1: Share with care!
Not everyone will like what you write on Facebook or WeChat. You can never completely control who sees your texts, your pictures, or your videos. Before posting them, everyone should ask themselves two questions: "How will I feel if my family or teachers see this?" and "How might this post be bad for me in three, five or ten years from now?'1 RULE 2: Be polite when you write!
Imagine someone is unfriendly in real life. You don't like it, right? Well, the same is true of online communication. Politeness matters, and anyone can be polite. No one likes it when you "shout" in your messages. If you feel angry or upset while you're writing a message, wait a bit. Read it again later and then send it.
RULE 3: Protect and respect (尊重)!
Don't share your passwords with anyone. Don't post your home or email address online. Pay attention to "cyberbullying (网上欺凌)" 一 don't say anything bad about other people. If you get messages like that or see them online, talk to parents or teachers.

That was he could only speak a little Chinese at home and know little about Chinese characters. Later, he became very (interest) in the TV series Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain. And soon, he began to study Chinese and tried to put some of Louis Cha's works English by himself.
"Traditional Chinese culture (it) is too difficult for American people. online fantasy web novels about Chinese kung fu are easier for them (understand)," said RWX.

Courtney Carver lives in Utah, the United States. In 2010, she felt-really tired. "I worked too hard. I spent too much. And I slept too little." she wrote on her website. "I always wanted more because I thought I would be happy with more. I spent much of my life feeling worried and unhealthy. "She began to live more simply. She sold many of her things and she gave away other things. She became a minimalist (极简主义者). She said she gave away other things. She became a minimalist (极简主义者). She said she had never felt better. It teaches people how to live a better life with fewer things.
Minimalism is the idea that people are happier living with fewer things. It helps people get away from the things they do not need, so that they can think carefully about what is important. The problem is that we give too much meaning to our things. We often forget our health or relationship. We forgot about keeping on learning.
What do you think of minimalism? You can visit Carver's website to learn more.
|
A. She was trying to do too much. B. Do you want to be a minimalist? C. Then Carver decided to change her life. D. There is nothing wrong with having things. E. Helping others can make us live a happier life. F. She started a website called Be More with Less. |
Last Sunday evening, my parents went out for a walk with my sister. But I studied alone at home because I would have an English test. All of a sudden, I saw bright light in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he was cooking so I went on studying.
Soon, there was a terrible smell in the air and I thought something was wrong. I went out and saw fire coming out of my neighbor's kitchen. So I shouted "Fire! Fire!" But no one heard or came out.
I ran quickly into my house to call 119, and then I rang my neighbor's doorbell, knocked at the door, but there was no response. I got into the house through the window and found my neighbor sleeping in his bedroom. I woke him up and we rushed out of the house together.
We tried our best to pour water through the kitchen window, but the fire was too heavy. Luckily, the firemen came and put out the fire quickly. When my parents came back, they found I was dirty and tired. After my neighbor told them the whole story, they were happy and said I was a brave boy.
One Monday morning, the students were talking about their homework in the classroom. Last weekend, their homework was to sell something. They would use the money they made to buy school things for the children in poor areas. Now it was time for them to show how successful they were.
Liu Ling was the first one to speak. "I made some cakes and sold them. I made 40 yuan," she said happily. "My friendly words and smiles helped me. At the same time, the cakes were rally delicious." "Good," said the teacher.
Yang Mei said, "I sold newspapers. I made 55 yuan and I told everyone that newspapers can tell us what is happening around the world." "Very good, Yang Mei," said the teacher.
Li Hang said, "I sold my toys and I made 62 yuan. I told everyone they were much cheaper than new toys." "Great!" said the teacher.
Then it was Zhou Yi's turn. Everyone looked at him. Zhou Yi walked to the front of the classroom and put a box of money on the teacher's desk.
"1,242 yuan," he said.
"1,242 yuan!" said the teacher. "What did you sell?"
"Toothbrushes," said Zhou Yi.
"Toothbrushes?" the teacher asked. "How did you do it? How many toothbrushes did you sell to make that much money?"
"I found the busiest street in town," said Zhou Yi, "I set up a chocolate stand (货摊) and invited everybody who walked by to taste my chocolate for free. They all said, 'Your chocolate tastes good but it makes my teeth black!' Then I said, 'It is. Do you want to buy a toothbrush?' "
Shyness means feeling afraid when other people are around you. Some children were shy when they were born. Some become very shy later because of their life experiences. In fact, everybody gets shy sometimes. It is just how much they feel shy. Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they are shy. Some won, t go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay for their food. Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.
If shyness doesn't stop you from doing what you want to do, being shy isn't a big problem. Some experts say shy people are good at working because they think more and talk less. But remember not to let good opportunities pass you by just because of shyness. If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or give some performances in front of others, just do it. There, s nothing for you to be afraid of.
One day, I took a taxi to the train station. We ere driving on the road when suddenly a black car jumped out of another lane (车道) right in front of us. My taxi almost hit he car.
The driver of the black car started shouting at us. But the taxi driver just smiled and said sorry to the man. I thought he was too friendly. I asked, "Why did you just do that? The man almost sent us to the hospital!" This is when he taxi driver taught me what we calk now-the Law of the Garbage Truck (垃圾车定律)
"Many people are like garbage trucks, "he said. "They run around full of garbage like frustration (沮丧) or anger. They need a place to dump (倾倒) it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it seriously. Just smile, say sorry, wish them well and move on. Don't take their garbage to other people at work, at home, or in the street. "
Many people like traveling. A trip is a great way to relax. Do you know how to prepare (准备) for a trip? There are some important things you should know before going out for a trip.
First, learn to read maps and use a compass (指南针). Buy a compass and a map of the place you want to visit.
Second, listen to the weather report so that you can make a good plan for your trip. If it is sunny, it is a good day to go out.
Third, make sure that you have the appropriate (合适的) clothes for your trip. Wear a pair of comfortable sports shoes. Remember that you have to wear different kinds of clothes in different seasons.
And, take the right food for your trip. Don't forget to bring some water. Try not to take too much junk food (垃圾食品).
Hope you have a wonderful rip!
