Watch TV too much is bad for your health.
I was the tallest girl in my class when I started school. It made me feel 1and I believed that I looked very fat and ugly. The small girls were seen as smarter, so they were more popular and got more2 from teachers. I began to hate myself 3 not being small when I was seven years old, and by adulthood, I felt sad about my appearance.
I didn't dare to look into the mirror 4 one day my friend pulled me to the mirror to let me see that I had a good figure. It's true that I was in good shape. Then I did something kind for 5—I bought a beautiful dress for myself. I felt very happy! Happiness wasn't a part of my life as I was too busy6 others. I always thought following others could make me more popular. But it's hard to be happy when you don't see your own 7 .
Each small kindness to me made me 8 myself more. I'd do something loving and feel happier, which made me want to do 9 . That focus on myself 10 deep self-love.
Today my self-love is very 11 .It has helped me develop self-confidence and led me to 12 myself from an unhappy school teacher to a popular writer. Now I see myself 13 a very beautiful woman. I have a wonderful body without 14 .
Please join me in taking steps to develop self-love. Every little loving act you do for yourself helps you build 15.

Have you ever stayed in a hotel? Most Chinese hotels often provide guests with things like disposable (一次性的) toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and slippers. Many guests like the idea because they don't have to bring their own. But, if you travel to Beijing, remember to bring your own things. Starting from June, some hotels in Beijing will no longer provide guests with these disposables. They want to ask people to use less disposable things.
Many disposable things are made of plastic. People throw them away after only using them once. It is a waste of natural resources (资源) and is very bad for the environment. Do you know, one Chinese person makes as much as 400kg of waste a year! Most of that waste comes from disposable things. In Beijing, people throw away about 19,000 tons of plastic bags and 1,320 tons of plastic lunch bowls every year! Plastic can take between 100 and 400 years to break down. So the less plastic we throw out, the better. So, wherever you travel, bring your own things and use them again and again.
Back at home and school, you can also do something to make our world a better place. Try to do these things in your daily life: Use cloth shopping bags, not plastic ones. After using a plastic bag, wash it out and let it dry. Then you can use it over and over again. Do not use paper cups. At your school canteen(食堂), use your own bowl and chopsticks instead of disposable ones.
Nowadays more and more people are using modern traffic and modern communication means. The world (it) is becoming much smaller. So life today is much easier than it was (hundred) of years ago. but it has brought new (problem). One of the biggest problems is pollution. To pollute mean to make things dirty. Pollution comes many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It's bad to all living things in the world, but it is not the (bad) one kind of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us become angry more (easy).
Pollution by SO2 is really the most dangerous problem of air pollution. It is (cause) by heavy traffic. It is true that there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is (we) home. We must take care of it. That means (keep) the land water and air clean. And we must take care of the rise in pollution at the same time.

Do you like traditional Chinese paper-cutting? Ding Xiang, a student at Nongsishi Middle School in Xinjiang, is really good at it. At the eighth National Excellent Talents Competition last month in Beijing, the 15-year-old girl got the gold award(金奖) for her paper-cutting skills.
At the competition, Ding cut a piece: Millennium Dream(千年梦想). The piece has two papers. One shows an ancient cave painting(壁画) and the other a Chinese-made spaceship. The two papers form a sharp contrast(对比). Ding said she wanted to show three things with the piece: China's long history, China's rapid development, and her hope for the future of paper-cutting. This piece helped Ding walk away with the gold award.
"I was very surprised to get the award." Ding said in an interview with Yili Daily, a Xingjiang newspaper. "I should thank paper-cutting for bringing me the award."
All the hard work has paid off. In two years, Ding's skills have improved a lot, and she has the gold award to prove(证明) it.
Ding said she has learned a lot from paper-cutting. "I have learned to observe things carefully," Ding told Yili Daily. "I have become more confident, too. It is a great help in my studies. Also, I have learned a lot of history from the art."

Money, jewels and important documents may not be the only valuables placed in banks these days. Some mothers store their breast milk (母乳) in banks.
There are ten breast milk banks across the United States, where mothers can donate their extra milk for other women's babies.
Experts say breast milk is the best food for babies. The World Health Organization says it is the only food babies should get during the first six months of life, in most cases. Breast milk is especially important for babies born too early. Sometimes these premature babies(早产儿) must stay in the hospital for many weeks.
James Cameron is adoctor who treats newborns at Lutheran Children's Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He says breast milk is almost like medicine. Doctor James Cameron says, "The fact is that there are so many different proteins(蛋白质) and specialized(专门的) sugars in the breast milk that the mom's able to make that help provide immunity (免疫力). It's very important for the health of the newborn."
Lucy Baur lives near Fort Wayne. She breastfed both her children and always had more milk than they needed. She wanted to donate to the Indiana Mothers Milk Bank in Indianapolis. But freezing and shipping milk can be costly. Then, a donor station opened near her home.
Milk donations in the United States work like this. Donors must be willing to provide almost three liters of breast milk. They freeze the milk and take it to the station. There, employees warm the milk and mix it with other mothers' milk. Then, the milk is heated to kill bacteria(细菌). After that, the technicians (技术员)test samples of all the milk to make sure it is safe and healthful. The milk is re-frozen and sent to the main milk bank. The milk bank transports the milk to hospitals to feed premature or sick babies.
Donors are tested for diseases before any milk is accepted. They are not permitted to smoke tobacco(烟草), use illegal drugs or drink too much alcohol.(酒精)
Easter is a religious(宗教的) holiday that is celebrated during spring in Western countries. An Easter egg hunt is a game during which Easter eggs are hidden for children to find.
This Easter, we held an Easter egg hunt. They told us that one thousand eggs were hidden in our school. The class that found the most eggs in one day would win a prize.
Our class wanted to win very much. This was easier said than done, but our team leaders, Rose and Charlotte, had a good plan. We should all arrive to school early. We would spread out across the school in small groups—each group would be in charge of(负责) one floor. We would put all of our eggs into one bag, which Rose would keep safe until the end of the day. Most importantly, we must not eat the eggs.
When the day finally came, I was the last one to arrive. Everyone had already collected lots of Easter eggs—some had 20, some a bit less than 30 and two girls even found 42! I regretted coming late. But I was able to find a few at lunchtime.
The chocolate eggs were hidden in places like teacher's drawers( no one dared to open them), stuck(粘贴) behind the blackboards, inside the display shelf , behind trophies(奖杯) and stuck in a hole in a doorframe(门框).
By the end of the day, we had 196 Easter eggs! Winning the prize is not important. If everyone works together, then we can do anything.
— So she does. She is always full of __________________.
—We can watch the new movie this weekend. I can't wait.
—Well, we________ carefully and now we have a good idea.
My son Daniel began surfing at the age of 13. After school every day he put on his wet suit and waited to be challenged by three-to-six-foot waves.
(然而), one day, his eye was badly hurt by the point of his board. My husband Mike rushed him to hospital. Daniel received stitches* from the (角;拐角)of his eye to the bridge of his nose.
I was flying home from a (会议)while Daniel's eye was being stitched. As soon as I (到达)at the hospital, he reached out both arms, crying, "Oh, Mum. I'm so glad you're home. "
I sobbed, telling him how terrible I felt about not being there when he went through pain.
"It's okay, Mum," he said. "I'll be fine. The doctor said I can go back in the water in a (两个)of weeks. "
Was he (发疯的)? I wanted to tell him that he wasn't allowed to go near water again. But instead, I(控制)myself.
For many days, he kept asking me to let him go back on the board, but always (重复)"No".
"Mum, you taught me never to give up what I love, so I want to (继续)practising surfing, " Daniel said.
Finally, I gave in. Back then Daniel was just a boy with deep love for surfing. Now he is (在……之中)the top surfers in the world.
