Like most ancient villages of the Huizhou region, Xidi was constructed near the mountain and by the river. Located in Yi County, Huangshan City in Anhui Province, the cultural heritage site Xidi is rich bluestone, so the roads in the whole village are paved (铺) with bluestones, granting it a neat and gentle look. Paving the roads with bluestones (be) luxurious (奢侈的) in ancient times, so we can infer that Xidi was rather rich at that time. Xidi developed (main) with the Hu surnamed (姓) families ancestors moved here from Wuyuan during Ming Dynasty. Originally, the Hu families at Wuyuan were surnamed Li, but that changed to Hu when the descendants of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang (867-904) (move) to Wuyuan for their safety.
