Larry seemed always silent and didn't have any friends. His teacher Mr. Brown noticed this. One day, he asked Larry to meet him after class. Mr. Brown said, "I see that you don't talk to anyone or show any interest in anything. What's wrong?" Larry replied, "Sir, I have a very difficult life. I have to face some very sad incidents (事件) and I always keep thinking about them. Because of this, I can't focus on (聚焦于) anything and don't even feel like talking to anybody."

Mr. Brown listened carefully, thought for a while and said, "Would you like some lemonade (柠檬汽水)?" Larry felt a little surprised and nervously replied, "Yes, thank you!"

While preparing lemonade, Mr. Brown added more salt but less sugar. Larry made a strange face as soon as he drank a sip (一小口) of that lemonade. Seeing this, Mr. Brown asked "You don't like it?"

"Um... it's just there is a bit too much salt in it," Larry answered.

Mr. Brown stopped him, "Oh, it doesn't matter. I will throw it away." As the teacher was lifting the glass to take it away, Larry stopped him and said, "Sir, please don't throw it away. If we put a little more sugar in the lemonade, it will be fine to drink"

Hearing this, Mr. Brown said happily, "This is what I want to hear from you. To improve the taste of lemonade, we don't need to remove (去除) the salt from it. Instead, we can just add some sugar to it. Similarly, we can not remove sad things that have already happened to us, but we can add sweetness of good experiences in our life. If you keep on crying about your past, neither your present will be right nor the future will be bright."

Larry realized his problem and promised to live a happy life.

Should Students Wear Uniforms?

Some schools have a rule that students must wear uniforms to class. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, uniforms are required (要求) at about 22% of U.S. public schools. Many schools say uniforms make it easier for students to focus in class. But some students think uniforms are uncomfortable and that kids should have the freedom to express themselves through their clothing. Should students be allowed to wear what they want? TIME for Kids did a research among their readers. Here two of them share their opinions.

YES! by Yuna Chong, 9, from California

Uniforms are as much about safety as they are about inclusion (包含). Teachers don't worry about losing sight of students at the playground or on a field trip. Also, when kids wear uniforms, both the older and younger students feel like they are part of the same group. I wear a uniform and feel like my school is one big team. I feel included.

I think it is harder to bully someone about his or her clothes if you are all wearing the same thing. When everyone is dressed the same, you don't have to worry about how you look or about wearing the latest style. Parents can also save money! And in the morning I can save time because I don't have to choose what kind of clothes I should wear.

I don't think kids should have to wear a uniform. If students are wearing the exact same thing, they can't express themselves. Kids should feel like they can be their own person.

During school hours, we should also be comfortable. If we're in scratchy shirts and uncomfortable dress, we're not going to focus very well. I know that the teachers don't want us to focus on anyone else's clothing, but it's still uncomfortable to be in a uniform all day.

From an early age, we were taught that if we wanted to be successful, we had to study hard and get good results at school. Some even lead an unhappy life. Why is it like that?

In some parents' eyes, school grades matter most for their kids. For example, how to be a happy person, what to do to keep healthy, and how to get along well with others. That is to say, school is not just enough if you want to have a great life.

Studies show that people who failed at school may not end up failing in life. You may have already known that some famous people, like Thomas Edison and Steve Jobs, didn't do very well at school or even failed to finish school. In fact, there are a lot of big shots (大人物)who are successful in life without finishing school.

Life is really a long lesson, so long that you can't define (界定)a person's success by just one section (部分)of it. If you have already finished school, keep learning because what you have learned at school will never be enough to live a satisfying life. Keep learning to make the most of your talents (天赋). That's how you can live a happy and successful life.

Tintin is another favorite cartoon hero. He has been popular 1929. Tintin has red hair and a small white dog. He works for a newspaper and has lots of exciting experiences. Fans have bought about 200 million copies of Tintin's stories in more than fifty languages. Tintin in China in the 1980s. Nowadays, many Chinese still these black-and-white Tintin books.
