A friend invited us to help serve dinner at Tent City. A number of tents (帐篷) were set up for the homeless in that area.

I took my two boys with me. They were 9 and 5 at the time. They had a lot of questions because this whole thing challenged their common ideas about how people lived in the world.

"Why don't they have homes?"

"Why don't they get food the way we do?"

We talked through the reasons why people end up in this type of situation and the importance of creating a safety net for them. I explained that many times, the only safety net is other people who are willing to share some of their time and care.

The people we served were different in age from the young to the elderly. Many of them were missing teeth or had dirty clothes. Surprisingly, they were quite thankful that I had brought the boys. Many said how fun it was to have active, joyful children around.

After dinner, I saw my older son sitting together with several elderly gentlemen who were talking about sports in front of a small television set. He was having a great time sharing and hearing stories. As some people returned to their tents, I heard him tell them, "Thanks so much for coming to dinner with us." I could see through their facial expressions that his simple words touched them greatly. I hugged him a little tighter as we left to go home because it touched me too.

It reminds us that treating people with respect (尊重), no matter who they are, can lift all of us up.

American artist Andy Warhol once said, "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." Now, thanks to the Internet, the rise of live streamers (网红主播) has kind of shown him correct.

Li Jiaqi ,27, known as the " Lipstick (口红) Man" for his 2018 super job of selling more than 15000 lipsticks in five minutes ,is one of the most famous live streamers on Taobao, China's biggest online shopping platform (平台).With about 50 million followers on popular social media platforms like Sina Weibo, Li has at least several million fans for each live show.

Live streaming has been a fashion worldwide shopping. About 450 million online shoppers in China paid more than $4.4 billion (30.89 billion yuan) for goods and products through live streaming platforms in 2018. Live streaming has not only helped the live streamers like Li become famous, but also helped to grow their own brands. The new shopping model, with its short videos, is greatly welcomed by those who prefer to stay at home and want to get the things right away.

While live streaming provides a new fashionable way of shopping, it also has its own problems.

Days before the Double II event this year, Li tried to sell a non-stick frying pan (不粘锅) during his live show. While he used words like "super" to describe the pan, an egg he was cooking stuck to the pan and burned (燃烧). The accident has sent people worrying that some live streamers sell sub-standard products with poor after-sales services .The National Radio and Television Administration sent a notice the next day, asking platforms to check the quality (质量) of live streamed products and make sure all of the products should have good quality. It tires to protect customers from being fooled.

Liu Yuanju, a researcher at the Shanghai-based SIFL Institute, once said that the government should make laws to protect the online shopping, And the customers should be more careful when they buy the things from the live stream platform
