    The Silk Road is the name of different roads that long ago connected Europe, Africa and Asia. People reached these different places along these roads. Scientists believe people began to travel the Silk Road about 3, 000 years ago. By the time the Chinese silk trade became important in the world. The Silk Road covered almost 0, 500 kilometers. It went from Rome to China. Which is from the West to the Far East.

    Merchants travelled along the Silk Road to carry silk, of course. They also carried and traded  other things like spices (香料) , cloth, jewels and gold.

    Along and around the Silk Road, there are many fascinating and mysterious stories. It is said that Roman soldiers who lost a war travelled through Central Asia. They decided to live somewhere near the ancient Chinese villages. Some of these Romans married local Chinese women and the story of the blond-haired, blue- eyed tribes (部落) of China was started.

    Some historians believe that the people of Kashmir were taken away from their country Israel. They were prisoners (俘虏) of war almost 2, 800 years ago, People say that these people travelled along the Silk Road. They kept their Jewish way of life for a long time.

    During its busiest period, the Silk Road allowed people from many different cultures and countries to meet each other and mix. The Silk Road allowed the sharing of valuable things and new ideas. It included people and trading goods from different areas. All these peoples travelled the Silk Road. And they shared goods, stories, languages, and cultures.

    In modern times, the old Silk Road routes (路线) are still used, but now they are crossed by trains instead of camels and horses. There is even a Silk Route Museum in Jiuquan in China. It has over 35. 000 objects from all along the Silk Road. In this way, China protects the history of many countries and peoples.

A: Hey, Tony! You look so excited.up?

B: We have just won a game, and we will be in the final.

A: You mean the school football games?

B: Yes. It was quite hard for us toClass Two.

A: on your success!

Yu Lin: I agree. Can I join you

Su Hui:You are really welcomed.

Yu Lin: Thanks! What can we do?

Su Hui: A lot. We can raise money for the charity.

Yu Lin: Great ideas! The virus outbreak taught us a big lesson. It has reminded us to respect and protect animals instead of killing or eating them.

Su Hui: That's right. Besides, the NCP outbreak has made great influence happen in people's life.

    When I was a teenager, my teachers thought I was the worst student. My family also had the thought as my teachers. When I was going to give up my study, a new teacher. Miss White came to our school. She was young, beautiful and knowledgeable.

    One day，when I was sitting in my classroom, Miss White came up to me and talked to me happily. Soon her smile away my unhappiness.

    "Do you think I can go to college?" I didn't why I asked such a question. I thought she must say "no", everyone else said so.

    But she said, "Dear, you can do you want. Just try, and you'll get closer to success. I believe you are the best!"

    I was touched by her words. I decided to study hard. From then on， we became good friends. She often me with my study in her free time.

    In the end, I did well in my and went to a good college. Miss White is an angel (天使). Her words have kept me going forward. She helped me to see that I am special and can be in life.

    It may take a long time for some people to learn to speak English. However , by following these tips（实用的提示） you should be speaking English in no time.

    Tip I: Forget about having a large vocabulary. Only learn the words you will need most. For example, if you are traveling in an English-speaking country, make a list of all the possible sentences and questions that you would need to know, such as "Do you know where the nearest bathroom is? "and" I am lost. Can you help me?". Think about what sentences you would want a traveler to know if they came to your country and couldn't speak your language.

    Tip 2: Once you have a list of vocabulary that you think will be most useful to you, make sure you understand the meaning of each word and know how to use each word in a sentence. Try making lists with new words and sample sentences(例句). Ten new words is enough on each list. Then stick( 粘贴)the lists up all over your house where you can easily see them. Practice every day. Whenever you see a list, make sure you stop and read through it.

    Tip 3: Now pronounce these words and sentences properly. Try to learn pronunciation by listening to how English speakers pronounce words. Watch English TV shows, listen to English radio programs and try to talk with as many English speakers as you can, online or in person.

    Florence Nightingale was named after her birthplace, Florence, Italy. When she was almost one year old, she returned with her family to England. Florence often helped her mother give out  food to the poor. As she grew older, she decided to become a nurse. Her family was shocked because nursing was not a good job at that time. But Florence kept on her decision. She studied books on medicine. Later, she visited hospitals in France, Germany and Ireland and learned everything she could.

    In 1854, Britain was at war with Russia. Florence went to the British hospital and she was shocked. The condition in the hospital was poor and bad. The hospital left men lying on the floor, and mice were everywhere. Many people died before receiving help.

    The doctors wouldn't listen to Florence because they didn't like the idea of women in hospitals — until one day 500 unexpected patients arrived. They soon realized that Florence could give a hand. Florence made changes. She made sure the patients were washed and their wounds were cared for. Every night she would check the patients with her lamp(灯).

    When she returned home after the war, people raised money for her. Many of the people she had nursed had given away money. Finally she set up the Nightingale Training School in London.

    After years of hard work, Florence Nightingale saw cleaner and more cheerful hospitals. Nursing became an honored（受尊敬的） job. All of this was because of the "lady with the lamp”.
