A group of classmates got together to visit their old teacher.

These classmates all had good jobs and made lot of money. They talked happily. Then their talk soon turned to the 1in work and life. The teacher went to the kitchen and came back with a large pot of coffee and  2cups. The teacher told them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the teacher said, "Can you notice that all of you took nice-looking expensive cups, leaving behind the plain(平常的) and cheap ones? You 3want the best for yourselves, and that is exactly the source (根源) of your problems."

Waving her 5-year-old daughter goodbye, Wang Yaping, together with Zhai Zhigang and Ye Guangfu, went into space aboard the Shenzhou XIII on Oct 16. The 41-year-old Wang became the first female astronaut to enter Tiangong space station. During their six-month stay, Wang, along with Zhai and Ye, will do experiments and set up robotic arms. Wang will also do the first spacewalk by a Chinese woman, reported Xinhua.

Wang's space dream started in 2003, when China sent its first astronaut Yang Liwei into space. After having safe flights for 1,600 hours over nine years, Wang was a strong candidate (候选人) to become an astronaut in 2010. She pushed herself hard, getting the same training as men, including the pull-ups and barbells (杠铃). "The space environment won't change because you are a woman." she told Xinhua.

The hardest part is the high-G training. Sitting in a spinning (旋转的) machine, Wang would become blind for a while because her brain was short of blood. "There's a red button," said Wang. "If you can't bear(忍受) it, you can press it to stop." But Wang never used it. "There is no such red button in my heart." That strong spirit finally led to realizing her dream in 2013. She joined the team for the Shenzhou X mission.

Wang said that as astronauts, women have their own advantages (优点). "Women tend (倾向于) to be more patient and can better deal with loneliness. Women's hearts are also easier to get used to the weightless environment, making them more suitable for long-term missions."

Retired NASA astronaut Catherine Coleman sent a greeting to Wang before the Shenzhou XIII trip. Coleman said: "When you look out the window and see the stars and the Earth, billions of women will be looking out that window with you." Wang carries the spirit of every young woman who dreams of something big.

In September, 2020, I had the chance to come to China for the first time and visited Yunnan Province.

On the first day, we went to a village named Xiaopingzhai. I was amazed to discover that a small tea factory could bring in 6 million yuan a year with only 20 workers.

The next stop of our trip was the village of Kangmian. Many families now live there after leaving uninhabitable(不适合居住的) areas. The new village has 450 housing units. There I have learned that the government helps the people by providing jobs so that they can support themselves. Of the 1,331 villagers, 609 now have jobs.

In Shuiduichong, a traditional Yao ethnic(瑶族) group village, we visited the workshops for making silver ornaments( 饰品). We discovered the skill had a history of more than 200 years.

Besides(除……之外还) the traditional use of silver ornaments in Yao culture,  ▲  

A set of silver ornaments can be sold for between 10,000 and 20,000 yuan on the market. The making of silver ornaments creates jobs in the village. Shuiduichong now has more than 20 family workshops.

This trip was over. I have realized that through the hard work of the Chinese government, great changes have taken place in Yunnan. These impressive(印象深刻的) results should serve as an example for other developing countries.

Let me tell you something that happened to me last Monday night.

It was a hot night. At midnight, I was so thirsty that I had to get up from the bed. I went straight to the kitchen. How I wanted to have it at once! When I was outside the kitchen, I heard some sounds in it. What made the sounds? I was a little scared. It was under my bed just now. It couldn't be the gas cooker (煤气炉), because I remembered my mother had turned it off. And it was a habit for her to turn off the gas cooker after cooking.He must go in through the window of the kitchen and was just ready to go to the living room or the bedroom to steal something.

Suddenly, an idea came into my mind. I carried a stick and went into the kitchen.It was the wind that was blowing lightly there. Oh, my god…
