Cooking has reached new heights. Recently spacemen on the International Space Station 1 the first space-baked (烘焙) cookies. They said the chocolate cookies looked out of this world. The cookies are the very first kind of food to be baked 2 space from raw (生的) ingredients. Usually, space food is prepared on Earth and then heated 3 eaten cold on the space station.     Many children in New Zealand have been on a "bear hunt (捕捉) "these days. This is a game for them to play while they are studying from home.

    New Zealand began a four-week lockdown last month but people are still1to go outside to exercise if they keep a safe distance from each other. Deb Hoffman, a mother of two, started this neighborhood activity on the Facebook page "We're Not Scared-NZ Bear Hunt". Her2comes from a children's book called "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".

    Mrs. Hoffman also3a website for people to show where their bears are on an online map. People love the game and teddy bears begin to4, standing in street-facing windows, sitting in flower beds and hanging upside down from trees. Their owners post their5on the online map so parents can take their kids on the bear hunt.

    And the children are6about it. They take paper, pens and hand-drawn maps. Some even bring binoculars (望远镜) to help them hunt out these toys.

    A mother said she was very7to live in such a loving neighborhood. Her daughter8fifty teddy bears on their walk that day. "I love it. It's a great way for neighbors to9,"the mother said. "It gives us something to look forward to."

    And who doesn't need a little10during these times?

    Locusts are grasshoppers (蚂炸). Normally grasshoppers do little harm. But when there are lots of them, their bodies and behavior change. As locusts, they travel in huge groups, eating all the plants in an area and moving on. In a single day, a small swarm of locusts can eat as much food as 35,000 people. Along the way, they lay more eggs, producing greater swarms of locusts.

    Billions of locusts arrived in Pakistan last June from Iran, which has resulted in Pakistan's worst locust problem in many years. In early February, Pakistan's Prime Minister, Imran Khan, called a state of emergency (紧急).

    One unusual solution was suggested to deal with the locusts: it was reported that China had plans to send 100,000 ducks to Pakistan. In China, ducks have helped fight locusts in the past. A single duck can eat over 200 locusts a day.

    But soon after the idea was reported, it was canceled. A team of experts pointed out that most of Pakistan does not provide a good environment for ducks, which require lots of water, like rivers and lakes. China has sent a team of experts to Pakistan to help find out how to deal with the emergency so that the locusts don't wind up becoming a problem for China, too.

    Pakistan is now planning to buy more pesticides(杀虫剂)from India so that they can do more spraying from airplanes to control the locusts. But no one knows whether this will work or not.

    VE Day is short for Victory in Europe Day. It marked the end of most of the fighting in Europe, where tens of millions of people  killed. On May 8th this year, street parties had to be cancelled because of the pandemic (疫情). People across the UK  in celebrations in homes and on doorsteps.

    Queen Elizabeth gave a  to the British people that day. She spoke to them the same hour as her father did, exactly 75 years ago. What she said touched many people's hearts.

    "Many people laid down  lives in that terrible conflict (冲突) …. We should and will remember them. The wartime generation (一代人) knew that the best way to honor those did not come back from the war, was to ensure that it didn't happen…. Today it may seem hard that we cannot mark this special anniversary (周年纪念) as we would wish. Instead, we remember from our homes and our doorsteps. But our streets are not empty; they are  with the love and the care that we have for each other. And I look at our country today, and see what we are willing to do to protect and support one another, I say with pride that we are still nation those brave soldiers, sailors and airmen would recognize and admire. "
